Avid Pertrac is a great way to identify our pets if the become lost while traveling or during an emergency. Two of our dogs are chipped and registered. We've been customers of Avid since the early 90's when we go our first Standard Poodle. We downsized after losing our last Standard poodle and had a miniature poodle and a toy poodle. We lost our beloved Aston Martin in April of 2023. We just got our new Toy Poodle puppy Rémy Martin in January of 2024. Our Vet put in his microchip a few days ago. My dogs got out of my yard because heavy winds blew open our side door. I reported them missing to our local police department. When someone down the street found our dogs, they reported it to the police department. About 5 mins after I reported them missing, Avid called me to let me know the police department had them in their possession. This company cares so much about the customer, and pets, that they actually called me to make sure it was me who was reregistering my dog. Additionally, they are the only company that registers the customer's veterinarian. So, if you dog needs special meds and someone has found it you are covered. Finally, they make a collar that has a built in tag with all the info one needs to contact the owner. I am so pleased with Avid, there is nothing worse than having your dog run off because it saw deer, it was at night, 20 degrees and not knowing if my dog knew where he was. This company tries to email me about once a week to leave a review and then let them know. So they can give me a reward and I even attached the email they sent me telling me how I can win a raffle by reviewing not only on yelp, but on other services. They have made many mistakes in the enrollment of my dog and twice. They told me that my dog had not been enrolled when in fact it was. I'm not sure about the long term use of the company for finding your animal but it has been very difficult to update my name.Address and phone number because every time I called, they asked me to pay before they could do anything for me. But I had already spent quite a bit on the vet and chip. I understand the service has to be paid for and I did pay for the full surface but the representatives on the phone for this company tried to make me pay twice. They also messed up my email address. Multiple times after I very carefully spoke to them on the phone. This made a delay in updating my information. However, when I finally reached the third representative, she was extremely helpful. Didn't ask me to pay anything and I was able to update it. But my review, does I have to below?Because of the first two representatives that would not listen to a ward.I said until I agreed to pay again. read more

Got our pet micro-chipped for Avid PETtrac thru Hawthorne Dog & Cat Hospital. We were told by staff "the chip is useless unless you register it." But the only option to register the chip is a snail mail form that "takes up to 4 weeks to register." Avid customer service advised "just keep your pet close the next four weeks." It's an outdoor cat. Our recommendation to providers, Avid and potential customers: 1) Providers: please inform your customers that the only way to register is the form provided and that there will be a delay of up to 4 weeks until the chip is useful 2) Avid it's 2024. Find an IT fix to have vet provided prepaid registration as an online option without trying to charge EXTRA fees 3) Buyers: Beware! Your only option if purchasing PETtrac thru your vet is the prepaid snail mail form and (up to) a 4 week delay OR get suckered into paying twice by choosing to register your chip via online registration. I'm sure the service is helpful once activated but right now we've lost several hours trying to get answers. Not feeling great about the Vet, their staff, or Avid. read more
