I highly recommend Avid Speech Therapy. We've been to a couple of speech therapy places and my son didn't enjoy sessions as much as he does here. From the first session, I felt so at ease because I could tell the clinicians really cared about helping him. There was a period of time when I felt hopeless, like is my son ever going to speak?! But his therapists never gave up and tried different techniques to see what would work for him. Right around 4yrs, he started speaking more and more and every word or phrase I would tell his SLPA/SLP and we would celebrate his accomplishments together, it just felt nice to feel supported on this journey. I've really seen his growth the past couple of years and although we've gone through a couple of therapists, I have to say Miss Amber is the best. She really works with him, accommodates his interests and tries so hard to have him do something he likes but at the same time, still meet his goals. They let us know what's working for them in session so we can try at home. Miss Amber is really knowledgeable with AAC devices too. My son isn't on the typical proloquo app so it was nice to have someone experienced help him excel w/his AAC device too. If your kids get sick and you have to cancel last minute, Avid has been so understanding for us. I've never had an issue contacting them to cancel or reschedule. It's just been all around a great experience for us! read more

Avid speech has been an all around life saver. From my first contact with Jenny, the patient care coordinator I knew we were in the right place. Jenny has taken her time reexplained procedures listened to me cry shifted schedules managed numerous contacts with regional center insuring they had all they needed on top of managing the financial piece even being willing to shift her system to insure my kido got what he needed. She is truly the super start that any parent who is scared nervous and feeling a bit lost in looking for services for their kido would be lucky to stumble upon. Miss Amber has been the main speech therapist that we have worked with. She has all the obvious qualities you would want with someone working with your toddler happy, upbeat, reliable. But her energy is special and fills the room. Her ability to read my kido is unreal and unique to their relationship and this has created a connection that has changed everything. My kido loves her so much he starts to get excited two blocks before we get there. That excitement has been the catalyst into a world of small phrases and words that have allowed me to get to know my kido in a way that did not seem possible before. This to a mama is a gift that cannot be put into words. The other amazing part of our time with miss. Amber has been the parent education that I have received both through mirroring her interactions from sessions but also from her breaking down what can sometimes feel overwhelming and can send a mama down a shame spiral when done on your own. We were only able to do about 4 sessions here unfortunately since we had to move to a different county and I'm so sad that we weren't able to continue here. All of the staff was so kind and caring, thorough with my toddler and with creating a clear care plan to use at home, without feeling patronizing in the slightest. We have since tried a new facility and are amazed at the difference in quality. We are quitting our new facility and in search of somewhere else. I wish Avid was closer to our new home! But I absolutely recommend this place to any potential clients. read more

I have been to three speech therapy places and Avid is by far the best, hands down. My son has been working with Jason, he is encouraging and kind but also firm at the same time. He teaches my son HOW to articulate sounds correctly (tongue/lip movements), demonstrates it for my son, and has my son practice. Other speech therapy places would have my son drill words/sounds without actually showing him how to do it correctly. Jason not only works on sound articulation but on overall speech - volume, speed, pausing at punctuation marks- my son has become a much better speaker. Jason is super awesome, as is Patsy who worked with my son also when she was there. The front office staff, Jenny and Angela, are friendly and actually follow through and call you if slots open up on a waitlist. The owner, Narissa, of course sets the tone and really cares about providing quality speech therapy. Avid gets an A+ from me!! read more

Don't trust this place. The only speech pathologist working there is the owner, and she never sees patients. The rest are assistants and have no idea what they're doing. You're seeing a clueless assistant, yet you're billed as if you're seeing a speech pathologist. The assistant sees the kid without the supervision of the speech pathologist. My kid was going there for almost a year and showed no progression. I took my kid out and started seeing an actual speech pathologist, and my kid showed huge improvements in just one month. This place is purely business, and their only goal is to make money. They don't care about your kids. It's so unethical how they're operating this center. read more

I cannot recommend this place enough. The obvious care the whole staff shows to the little ones is not comparable. It has only been a few weeks for us but my little guy is already showing huge leaps and I'm learning so much to continue his progress at home that is actually effective. This is a very great place for my 5 1/2 year old daughter who is non-verbal & autistic. We have been coming here for almost 1 year and I've already seen a difference with my daughter and communication. I strongly recommend this facility for any child of any age! But as soon as he arrived, he met other children with like interests and the staff was great with him. I'm not sure I'll ever find the correct words to express how grateful I am to Narissa, Jason and the rest of the staff at Avid Speech. I brought my daughter to Avid speech when she was two because she would only grunt and get very upset because we were unable to find a way to communicate effectively with each other -- needless to say it caused a lot of stress for our family and we needed the help. Jason and Narissa have been instrumental in my daughter developing her communication skills first with sign language and then onto words. They have always been kind, willing to go at the speed she needs, and have keep every single session we've attending fun --so fun in fact that my daughter looked forward to each time she went to "class with her teacher". I could see my daughter enjoyed her time there so much that we enrolled in their Summer language program where she got to have classes weekly with other kids similar in age and would have done it in a heartbeat (again) if we had stayed in Orange County. . Zoe is now a talkative and expressive (and silly) four year old and I owe many thanks to their team for helping her develop this little personality that we love. They also worked with us on several occasions on scheduling and insurance going above what I would expect from any facility we would have chosen. . After months of researching where we could take our son to help with his speech delay, we found Avid. Jenny was so helpful with setting us up with a consultation and continued to be so incredibly helpful during our entire journey there. Our son immediately felt comfortable with his Speech Therapists. Their patience and willingness to work with our son made us, as parents, feel safe. We appreciated the quick check ins after the session to let us know what we can work on at home. Speech therapy sessions for my five year old with Narissa and Jason through Zoom have been a terrific alternative to our traditional in-person sessions. We were a bit skeptical at first at how effective the lessons would be without their physical presence but quickly realized that it wasn't so much the physical presence that was necessary, but the genuine motivation, knowledge and patience that the team at Avid brings that makes each session worth while. We were referred to Avid Speech clinic by our son's pediatrician, who was concerned about the limited speech services provided at the school here in Huntington Beach. By far it has been the difference maker! I immediately had my other two children participate in their social skills programs just for the language enrichment part of it. They have been nothing but helpful and informative from the very start. I literally cannot complain about one thing. We first visited one of the larger, more well-known centers in Orange County. I left that center feeling discouraged and honestly, concerned about how they conduct their sessions. One of the therapists mentioned therapy would involve making my child constantly frustrated to encourage a reaction/speech production and that if I should hear crying, to ignore it while I waited in the waiting room (Whaaat?). This obviously sounded like a nightmare to a parent...so I continued my search for a BETTER center. This is where Avid Speech Therapy comes in! I am beyond grateful that I came across Avid Speech. My 2.5 year old son has an expressive language disorder and started sessions back in September. Fast forward 7 months and he has improved a ton! He went from only having a few words in his vocab to actually adding more and also being more comfortable when attempting to speak. Needless to say, session days are his favorite. He leaves Narissa's office in such a great, happy mood. Narissa has a wonderful way with children and is also willing to answer any questions/concerns you as a parent should have. She also keeps you in the loop and provides progress reports. Great, affordable session fees, excellent quality and results! Avid has meant so much to my family over the past year. My son was diagnosed with a moderate speech delay and was barely verbal at 3 years old. After the initial evaluation and a few sessions, speech therapy became a bright spot in my week because of how much energy and focus went into developing my son's communication skills. Sometimes I felt like every therapist knew my son personally. Narissa told me that, yeah, they discuss progress and strategies amongst each other. I sometimes even get homework to carry over strategies at home. We moved to teletherapy for a period during the shelter-in-place orders, and that was more productive than I thought.
