We sought a wedding photographer who had a unique sense of style, great usage of light and composition and experience in urban and natural settings. Additionally, we were looking for a photographer who was flexible and could produce non-traditional wedding shots to match a non-traditional wedding format. After looking through a lot of websites, we decided to go with JR. The experience could not have been better. JR arrived early to the venue to scout, was fun to work with and worked so long into the night we had to tell him to go home. JR brought his wife as a second shooter. Despite being a less experienced photographer, we were also impressed by her pictures, her warmth and professionalism. JR's has phenomenal attention to detail, and is a talented editor as evidenced by his post production work. JR not only captured the moment, he captured emotion and great beauty with his lens.

My experience with this photographer is that he wasn't attentive to the brides needs, he didn't communicate via email in an efficient manner on many occasions, he provided poor customer service and he broke his contract. In regards to my needs on my wedding day, I would expect any photographer to take control and have some sort of direction, but he didn't. As a bride, you want photo's for memories, but unfortunately, I barely have any photos of my side of the family from beginning to end on our wedding day. JR primarily took photos of my husband and I, and focused on my husband's side of the family, which is unacceptable since our wedding was small and intimate. He also does not appear to be creative editing or does not edit at all. In regards to him breaking his contract, his contract states that we would receive our edited photos within 90 days after our wedding, but after a couple emails from me, we finally received them 127 days later after our wedding. Although JR captured several special moments in his photographs, they do not encompass all the opportunities he should have provided as a professional wedding photographer. For any bride, you want or hope to have a great experience with the vendors you choose for your wedding day. My only regret is choosing JR since many of the special moments caught in photographs cannot be recaptured.

When we got to hers, our minds were quickly made up - her work was everything we were looking for. The booking process was super smooth; we got to chat with her via Skype (as we were out of state) and work through all the little details. She really listened to what we were hoping to get out of the experience and worked with us to create a plan that fit us. We checked in with her in person a few days before the wedding to make sure all the details were set, timings were correct and to go over paper choices. I love speaking with Amanda because she is so professional and obviously a top notch photographer - but talking with her just puts you at ease. Yana was extremely easy to work with beforehand and on the day of our wedding. She made sure we took her to the venues ahead of time so she could plan out lighting and shots. During the ceremony and reception, you hardly knew she was there - she made sure to keep a low profile while still getting into the midst of the action to get close-up shots of everything. Yana has an astounding creative eye and an extreme attention to detail. She took amazing photos of us, our friends and family and other important elements of the day that will help us remember our wedding for a lifetime.
