I would not recommend this clinic. My daughter's teeth were cleaned by the dentist and not a hygienist. I was given a list of over 10 items that needed to be addressed. My first dental experience in the U.S. was at Avila Dental more than a decade ago. Although a long time has passed, every time I visit a dental office I am reminded of what happened there, so I decided to write this review now. The dentist, Dr. Bello, was professional, but my experience with the hygienist, Kelly, was extremely negative. At that time, I had just moved to the United States, did not speak English well, and naturally relied on my husband to communicate. Instead of showing understanding, Kelly made remarks suggesting that I was like a child depending on my husband. I found this deeply mocking and humiliating. During the cleaning, she smiled while inflicting pain on me, and it felt cruel and deliberate. As an Asian immigrant who couldn't speak English then, I felt that she treated me differently in a way she would not have treated other patients. That made the experience even more painful and isolating. I cannot confirm whether Kelly is still working there, but that experience left me with lasting trauma and a deep mistrust toward dental hygienists in America. In my opinion, no patient should ever be made to feel ridiculed or discriminated against because of language or cultural background. read more

I absolutely enjoy coming to Avila Dental. I've been a patient of Dra. Bello for about 2 years now and she is the best. Dra. Bello has been guiding me through my Invisalign journey making it easier for me when it comes to scheduling my appointments. I love the music her practice plays. My appointment was for a biannual cleaning as a new patient. To preface, I have had regular cleanings and exams my entire life and have had very few issues with my teeth due to diligent home care maintenance. My first stumbling block was having the office staff call me on two separate occasions to move my appointment time. It's unclear why they would offer me an appointment only to ask to move it multiple times. At my appointment, they stated I would be receiving a 3D scan of my teeth and would have multiple pictures taken with a small camera on top of extensive X-rays. It is still unclear if all the imaging is covered by my insurance despite asking for clarification twice. From the 3D scan and pictures, the dentist informed me I have over 10 cavities. It's unclear to me how these findings were not validated on the copious X-rays that were taken. As I understand, x-rays are the standard when diagnosing cavities, and a 3D scan is not needed because my teeth are in fact there in the office, in actual 3D to be examined. It was also suggested that I receive Invisalign for crowded back teeth to ease flossing (I do not have an issue with flossing, I floss every day), a fluoride treatment, and potentially having a deep cleaning due to mild gingivitis. While I believe some of these practices might be helpful, I think most of what they suggested is excessive, expensive, and unnecessary. Needless to say, I will not be seeking further treatment with this provider. I do not trust their clinical judgment and feel they have dubious practices. As such, I do not recommend this practice to anyone. read more

I was having a dental emergency (chipped tooth, no fun) and Dr. Bello and her team were kind enough to squeeze me in their schedule with really short notice and I was very grateful. The space is beautiful, very clean, and has a welcoming atmosphere. I know most of you are not big fans of dentist just like me, but I wanted to share my experience so you feel good about coming to this establishment. Dr. Bello was really attentive and considerate, she noticed I was feeling a little anxious and assured me that I wouldn't feel any pain and even offered some headphones to help with the noisy gadgets, mich appreciated but there was no need because I felt no pain, and the whole procedure was a breeze! Let me preface by saying- the 5 star rating that Avila Dental holds across multiple review platforms, is SO well deserved. Dr. Bello and her entire staff are exceptionally friendly and knowledgeable. I'm so glad to have found her practice. Dr. Bello ticks the boxes of not only being compassionate and personable, but highly skilled as well. One of my molars had a deep cavity that was bordering on a root canal and Dr. Bello (while setting reasonable expectations for the possible root canal outcome) was actually able to save the tooth! I was highly impressed with her abilities and immensely grateful. Furthermore, the office itself is clean, comfortable, and has a parking lot- a major plus for a Seattle location). I want to start by touching upon my only previous dentist, who was a very skilled dentist, but was less than empathetic when it came to anxiety issues. He frequently forgot or just didn't care that I had anxiety and was really afraid of getting dental work. After a huge panic attack at my last appointment, I decided that was it and started looking for a new dentist. After a few failed attempts at others, I came across Avila. My first consultation with Avila I was pleasantly surprised at how nice the waiting area was and how sweet the receptionist treated me. Still I was weary because, obviously that's not everything, but as aesthetically the place is very nice. I especially enjoyed the calming Spanish music playing that was a big upgrade from my last dentist's cheesy and overplayed elevator/hit music or whatever. Anyways, when I went back into the room I knew from the moment I met both the dentist and her assistant that they were awesome. They listened to my needs, were honest with me, and just appeared to genuinely care. Fast forward to my first cleaning, which I was TERRIFIED OF and hadn't gotten one in years: it went great!!!!!!!! I got all the help I needed (some anxiety drugs, headphones to listen to music) and a very attentive and caring dental assistant who made something that's usually very hard for me very doable. I can't comment yet on the quality of dental work such as fillings etc. yet, but I will update this if there's anything notable when I get work done. TLDR: if you are looking for a dentist who is compassionate, I would recommend Avila. read more

Avila Dental provides top notch dental care. I started seeing Dr. Bello to have Botox injections for clenching issues (works great BTW) and have since transferred to her office for all my dental care. Her staff is absolutely professional, friendly, courteous, and helpful. Dr. Bello is personable, Angela the office manager runs a tight ship and is an insurance wizard. Kelly the hygienist does a fantastic job in a timely manner and Nathaniel is always super helpful and so friendly. I have been to quite a few dental places and none of them treated me like family. I am used to having cleaning services, x-rays and polishing all done by the dental assistant and the dentist would just come in for a quick check up. Dr. Bello did my cleaning and basically mothered me to take better care of my teeth. It was funny and personalized. I felt like I was a part of the family. I'd been calling around for hours, mostly reaching answering machines, in search of a dentist who accepted my insurance. Only one has called back, Avila. Not only did they return my call promptly, but they did so to give me the phone number of another dentist who accepted my insurance. This is the first time I ever write a review in Yelp and it is for a really good reason. Dr. Bello and her staff made my first dental visit extremely pleasant and with the desire of going back. I have to say that this is the first time I visit a dentist in the USA since I didnt want to stop visiting my dentist in my original country that had always taken care of my teeth. But after being at Avila Dental, I have decided to keep Dr. Bello as my main dentist, her professionalism and excellent customer service have been enough to keep me as their client. The office setup and colors provide a very tranquil and relaxed atmosphere and their equipment technology made me feel very comfortable about the job the staff was performing. After years of mediocre visits to chain dentists, I tried Avila Dental based on the excellent reviews. I'm pleased to report that they fully live up to the great reputation! I use the online portal ZocDoc to schedule my appointments, which is convenient and very easy. When I arrive for my appointments, I'm promptly greeted and there is usually no wait. The examinations are thorough and they take my concerns very seriously -- each time I have gotten great advice on how to care for my teeth, and they never try to "upsell" me on gadgets or services which I really appreciate. I recommend this place to all my friends and will gladly travel across Seattle (I now live in West Seattle) for my appointments. read more

I held off scheduling with Avila for a very long time since the idea of being a new patient was nerve-wracking. Once I called them I was immediately put at ease - Angela was SO friendly and accommodating with my schedule. She was able to fit me in earlier due to a cancelation and the text reminders were awesome. At my first appointment, I was impressed by the office (it's green, clean, fresh, high tech, water and nespresso available, etc.) and the staff. Angela was lovely to meet in person, Kelly was a friendly and knowledgeable dental assistant who explained what she was doing each step of the way and made my cleaning comfortable, and Dr. Bello and dental assistant Daniela were very supportive and wonderful replacing my fillings. Pain Free! I had my first pain free teeth cleaning. I am not the best consistant oral care. With two small children, I sometimes fall asleep earlier than I plan on and then miss my own bedtime routine. And I tend not to floss. I have always figured that sitting through an uncomfortable cleaning was my penance. However, this office uses a new type of instrument that vibrates off the plaque instead of scraping with the pokey instrument that tends to cut my gums. My teeth came out clean without the pain! I also really appreciated the new digital x-rays. Dr. Bello showed me my teeth right away. And explained why one of my teeth hurts when I chew. I was afraid that there was something wrong, but really one of my old fillings is very deep and close to a nerve. read more

I went for a teeth cleaning and had a filling on a second appointment. The filling was virtually painless. I barely felt the shot. The staff was super friendly, the office space was clean and modern. Being able to visualize the deep grooves in my molars will actually help me to be a better tooth brusher. I visited Avila Dental for my 6 month check up and was most pleased with the service that was provided. The office has an amazing "zen-like" feeling and i was immediately calmed by the atmosphere and the fantastic art work. The office is new and state-of-the-art and the visit went well. All around great experience. I needed a lot of work before receiving approval for surgery. They scheduled me in a timely fashion and at no time did the Dr. or hygienist hurt me. I've had some very bad experiences with other dentists so this was a huge and pleasant surprise: excellent work with minimal pain.
