Do NOT hire Avila Tile - Worst customer service and unprofessional behavior I've ever experienced. We hired Victor Avila of Avila Tile in August to seal a leak on the rocks around round our waterfall feature, as well as clean the calcium buildup around the pool edge. The work came with a one-year warranty. Less than a year later, the seal has cracked and is now leaking water badly. When we reached out to Victor to request the warranty repair, he completely ghosted us on text messages. My husband finally got him on the phone, and Victor's response was that he would "get to us when he gets to us" with no timeline whatsoever. He then told my husband to stop calling and texting him because he "doesn't need to be bothered" by us. After a week, he is now using emojis to dislike, laugh at or like all our precious messages to him with zero context. Perhaps he hit happy hour a bit early today. To make matters worse, when his crew was here in August, they left trash behind on our grass for me to dispose of and the workers decided to take their lunch break on our brand new patio furniture without asking permission. They left a huge mess for me to clean up. I don't even allow my own family to eat on that set, and these workers treated it like a public picnic table. When we brought it to Victor's attention he laughed. He is now stating that is part of the reason why he isn't coming back out to satisfy his warranty work. Victor Avila has been extremely rude, dismissive, and unprofessional. His warranty is clearly meaningless, and his attitude toward customers who paid him is disgraceful. We will never use this company again and strongly advise others to look elsewhere. There are plenty of reputable tile and hardscape companies that actually stand behind their work and treat customers with basic respect. I will most certainly be filing a complaint against Avila Tile. read more

Everyone involved in the project: from original estimate, to contract, to job completion, were exceptional to work with. The job entailed replacing original tiles that had fallen off the spa and spillway area, placing new mastic around the entire pool , installing two new handrails into the deck and finally sealing the leaks and cracks in the waterfall. I saw the their truck up the street from me when they were working on my neighbors pool. I was in need of their services as I was also putting in a pool and called the number on the side of the truck. I spoke with Victor who said to email the plans to him and asked if it would it be ok if he got back to me in a couple of days with the bid. I didn't really expect to find an alternative in the middle of high season for pool contractors, but when I reached out to Victor, he arranged for his crew to come out three short days later and get my pool tiled. "Unscrupulous person" My wife and I decided to hire Victor Avila due to his outstanding reviews and high recommendations from NPT tile. We were extremely excited based upon the fact of his availability. He asked for us to send him our pool plans and we did. He then came out and field measured to get an accurate account and amount of tile due to the fact that we were buying the tile ourselves. When they came out to install the tile we were extremely upcharged for an area of work that he said was not included. then 3/4 of the way through the project, Victor had told me that I did not order enough step tile. I explained to Victor that not only did I order the exact amount that he asked me to order, but I added 10% so that we would not be short and cause any delays and having my pool plastering completed. Victor told me that he was only able to come out for 3 ft of step tile. After I showed him My work order showing that we had The amount that he had requested he then told me that I made a mistake. I am a contractor and I know how to measure so when I measured the amount of step tile that he had installed I was approximately five lineal feet more than what he had just quoted me from 5 minutes prior. He then swore to me and my wife that he would come back at no charge to us on ce the tile came in and was ready to pickup. Once the tile came in I called Victor to let him know. He told me that his schedule was too full to come out for three lineal feet a step tile. He told me if you want it done before I can get there "then you do it yourself". He was paid by my wife in full with her belief of him being a man of his word. he then went to the bank immediately and cashed the check and we have not heard from him since. If this is the type of work ethic that you are looking for in a pool tile contractor, I can guarantee you that you will be very satisfied with his unethical work ethic. read more

Would have loved to hire Victor to do a tile job for me, but didn't get a good vibe from him. Of three bids I received, he was the highest by several hundred. When I asked him to work with me on the price, he definitely made an effort (which was appreciated). When I called to move forward on the project, he wasn't pleased that I hadn't responded to him earlier, became angry, and hung up. Honest, hard working, and reasonable are three words that describe Avila Tile. My husband and I needed some tile work done on our pool, so I started getting some quotes. The first quote was to drain the whole pool, with no warranty, the job would take 2-3 days, and $300 extra for unnecessary work. The next quote came from Avila Tile who gave us a fair quote, he stated he only needed to drain the pool just under the tile, it would take about 2-3 hours, and he offered us a warranty on the work. He came the next week and did a great job in only a three hours! We didn't have to waste a lot of water on refilling the pool and we didn't have to spend days without access to our pool . He then gave me an estimate on some tile work inside. He emailed us an estimate that evening with a warranty and then gave us some time to think it over. When I called a month later, he set up an appointment to come do the work and again he was fast and did a great job. I would defiantly refer Avila to friends and I would use them again for any tile repairs needed. read more

Received a quote from Victor at Avila tile for $1900 for our pool and decking tile. When he came out to do the job he had jacked the price up to $3000 because he misread our pool plans when he gave the initial quote and didn't realize it until the day before he was set to do the job. This was not communicated to us until the night before and he sent it in an email with very little explanation. When trying to speak with him about how he breaks down the cost of doing the job, he refused to discuss it with me stating that he has already explained it to 10 people and didn't have time to go over it again. He was late arriving to the job site and extremely rude to my mother in law and me when we asked him any questions about the job. He even sent away another sub contractor that was hired to do work on the job simultaneously with his crew despite me telling him that I ok'd them to do the job they were hired for. Let me start by saying I have used many great contractors and tiling installers in my life - just having completed a large interior remodel. 10 months ago I had Victor install 1600 square feet of bluestone patio in my rear yard. This was a very large job. From the beginning this has been a mess. I initially noticed much of the sloping was performed incorrectly leading to pooling of water. BUT the real bigger issue I noticed immediately -An issue which has progressed to a major problem: the lack of adhesion of stones to the underlayment. The majority of stones are hollow, many are now loose and cracking. When we walk around the patio in bare feet I can hear the stones click. Some are completely loose. I have had 3 local reputable companies come by and every one has been appalled by the installation - essentially saying the patio will completely fail within 5 years and has to be completely replaced. Victor has not been responsive - not willing to back the product - making excuse after excuse such as "that's normal" "you didn't seal the patio" (LOL) as if it's my problem the patio is failing in 10 months after installation. Bottom line - there is no guarantee with these guys. Use someone reputable or you will have to contact the CSLB as I am currently doing. read more
