We went to the Marin County Farmers Market today for Mother's Day because all I wanted was to get a yummy falafel sandwich ($5) and a 1/2 Mint Iced Tea and 1/2 Lemonade ($2) with some fresh organic strawberries on the side from a vendor. I got my wish! Everything Avi makes is delicious and there's always a long line at his truck. I have had the Mediterranean Platter before and it's loaded with goodies...hummus, tabouleh salad, dolmas, spanakopita, falafel, roasted eggplant, assorted pickles, pita bread and baklava, for only $8! I've tried his beet salad which is so good, and I want to try his borscht next time because obviously I love beets! Even if I'm not hungry and I am at the market, I always get some of his iced mint tea (sometimes with lemonade, sometimes without) because it's the best I've ever had. We started our catering search over a year before our event. While I had many great conversations with very professional catering companies, I knew who our caterer was going to be once I had that 1st conversation with Maayan. She was organized, thoughtful, consultative and most importantly, she was flexible throughout the entire process. Our day started with Aviously D handling our kiddush lunch. I had so many people rave about the food that was served. Now for those that do not know, a kiddush lunch is a light lunch, nobody really ever talks that much about the kiddush lunch. However this kiddush lunch was different, I was amazed at all of the compliments and yes, I was able to finally eat and it was AMAZING!!! Dinner also lived up to our guests high expectations. On top of the food, nothing was missed, I mean nothing. Lot's of conversations & emails leading up to the event and not a thing was missed. I am still not certain how Maayan & her team did it. Her staff was amazing. NEVER in my wildest dreams did I expect our event to come off so smoothly, I mean, it was perfect. While I've never actually ordered the catering, I've ate at their truck during the San Rafael farmers market many times. It's a nice family owned company with great food! The falafel pita or falafel bowl (no pita) are so yummy! I never liked falafel, or especially didn't crave falafel, until I ate here. It's a healthy lunch alternative at the farmers market. We used Avi and the gang as caterers for our wedding and not only did we get a bargain but the meal was incredible. They did charge us a bit extra for overtime service even though the event didn't go past the time, but even with them trying to sneak that in there they were far cheaper than the next option that we were considering . Planning an event is a large undertaking, so having the knowledgable professionals at Avi's see our event through from start to finish set our minds at ease tremendously. The menus Avi offers are incredible; extensive enough that there were plenty of items for even the pickiest of guests, yet thoughtfully planned, written and prepared adding a personal touch to each selection. They were extremely accomodating; my family had a special request dish and right away I was told that this would be no problem at all! We had Avi cater our son's bar mitzvah luncheon, and we were extremely happy with all aspects of their handling of our event. They were helpful, knowledgeable, and extremely professional. We had approximately 180 people at our event, and everything -- and I mean EVERYTHING -- went off without a hitch. We received many compliments about the quality of the food and the service. Avi's daughter was the contact person for our event, and oversaw the catering at the luncheon, and was both ever-present and non-intrusive. We were extremely pleased. The food was delicious, fresh, and plentiful! Our guests ate very well. Avi's staff was solicitous without being obnoxious. Plates were cleared in a timely manner, food was refilled and consolidated as necessary, and we could not have been more pleased with the way the event was handled by Avi's daughter and her staff. My wife and I were free to circulate among our guests, and we really did not have to give a second thought to this aspect of our luncheon. Avi's staff coordinated well with kitchen staff at our synagogue, and really, it just went perfectly. Even my father, who is quick to speak up when he feels service people aren't paying sufficient attention to their duties (laugh or cry, your choice), had nothing but praise for the catering of the luncheon. Price-wise, Avi's costs were in the middle to high-middle of what we were quoted for this event. We used one of their base menus and tweaked it a bit -- a little more protein, a little less starch, etc. They were excellent to work with, and the communication was both speedy and complete. As the luncheon was concluding, we were asked how we wanted to handle the leftovers. We chose to have them box them up for us, but they also offered to donate all or part of the leftovers to a local shelter, so that no leftover food went to waste. In retrospect we should have taken advantage of this offer, as we did not need to take as much home with us as we did. Nonetheless, it was distributed among family members, and we found homes (and appetites) for the leftovers. Finally, our event was on the Peninsula, and Avi is located in Novato. This distance was not an issue, as Avi has a very well equipped van and was at the synagogue before we arrived, well in advance of the service and our guests. I would not hesitate to recommend Avi for any luncheon of a similar size! A+++ read more

They were so easy to work with and covered every detail we wanted. Our guests raved about the food and were talking about it for days! We had lots of serious food allergies to work around, and Avi and Maayan were so good about providing me with detailed ingredients ahead of time, and putting together a detailed menu that would work well for our guests and taste great and work within our budget. I had a lot of details I wanted to work out with table coverings, decorations, centerpieces, escort/table cards for each guest, room layout, etc. and Maayan had calls with me before the event to answer any questions I had and to make sure everything went smoothly. I worked with Avi on my wedding catering last year. He hand-delivered food samples to my house for us to do the tasting which was really nice. Prices are competitive within the industry. Food was delicious at the tasting but when cooking for 150+ the quality is bound to decline a bit. The chicken dish was definitely dry..the passed appetizers were as tasty as I remembered though. Avi and his team are some of the best caterers around. We hired them to cater a Bar Mitzvah lunch last weekend and everyone raved about the food. Appetizers included Baby Potato Pancakes topped with Seared Ahi Tuna and Ginger Lime Aioli, Bruschetta with Goat Cheese, Fresh Tomatoes and Mint and Vegetarian Empanadas with various chutneys. The main course included a wonderful roasted salmon, asparagus so perfectly cooked that I ate the leftovers for the next 4 days, a great fritatta for vegetarians and more. The freshness and flavor of everything were truly outstanding. The service was great, very professional servers who go out of their way to bring beverages, extra bread or what ever you need. Best of all is Avi himself. He really works with you to create a menu that you'll love. He's also flexible about changes. Each event was executed to perfection, when he sets up a buffet, everything is perfect and nothing is left undone.The food was really delicious (at each event people wanted the name of the caterer), beautifully presented and exactly as discussed.
