I called Avis and reserved a car. I asked if they are 100% sure it will be waiting for me when I drive across town in 30 minutes and they said "absolutely yes". I had to take Uber to get there. When I got there, they told me they were out of cars. When I said I had a reservation, they said it means nothing. I now hear that many people had the same problem (also same problem with different cities). read more

If I could give no stars then I would. I rented a car for Uber through Avis. Things were fine and everyone was nice. I got two payments behind because my card was locked due to a fraudulent charge. I was texting with the staff etc. The payments were 354 per week so the charge should have been like 709. Instead I was charged 1300? I did text an employee and I am told they don't see the charge and to come in. I do and speak with the owner. The owner is saying check my bank statements and he won't even look at the charge on my credit card statement? He also says check your receipts online? When I go online it shows I was suppose to return the car after the first week? They were not putting my weeks in with Uber. Then he asks if I can pay more and if have money on my card? I am like NO because you charged me 1300? So now I'm over my credit limit? Never once was I rude I was almost in tears because I am so upset just tying to figure out what is going on!!! The owner asks me to come around and look at his computer screen. When I say it was like hearing blah blah blah because nothing he said was explaining to me this additional charge. I said do I just eat this charge or what? Because you showing me I'm behind when I am showing you my credit card statement isn't solving my problem. Like I want to take care of this that's why I came in. Then the other employee an African American older gentleman starts to say at this point you just need to bring the car back because you have been late from day one, just being very rude to me in front of all the customers in Avis??? I just walked out and went home to call Avis. I am also filling a complaint with the Better Business Bureau. I finally after 4 phone calls speak with a man in billing who has half a clue. They show the 946 charge. This Avis was not putting in my additional weeks. So it looked like I just had the car for 3 weeks without paying and the 946 was the charges and late fees etc. Yet the owner and his employee said they didn't see that charge?? I asked the guy in billing why they didn't see the charge and he said they definitely did?? Then once I left The owner is texting me that I was behind with my payments and just being rude! Also threatening they could report the car stolen. Nothing to get it cleared up? I guess they didn't want to admit they were not handling my account correctly so instead they were just rude to me?? The guy in billing escalated my account and said I was due a refund. I texted the owner and he said contact the office? But when you were asking me for money you were texting me? If they would have tried to find out what happened I would have been fine with that. But the one man talking to me rudely in front of a room full of customers . All while I am out almost a 1000 dollars is a NO!!!!! Do not rent from them. I am looking for another Avis now but avoid this place at all costs because they are very very unprofessional. I am a single woman and I need to work. I didnt deserve the ugly and rude treatment I received . I would have paid obviously because I need the car. Again do not rent here !!!! The African American older gentleman needs to be fired !!!! Trying to shame me in a room full of people just for asking about the charge all while they were in the wrong is another NO. Several months ago, I made reservation to rent vehicle for more than a week (Mon-Tue); initially through Expedia/Orbitz. The initial price was little over $300. For this price why fly, right? Plans slightly changed, shifting pick-up and return by one day (Sun-Mon). I called Avis directly to make sure car pickup available and open Sunday. No price change. I specifically asked and told not. I go to pickup the the rental and price was over $900!!!! At that point, what option do you have, with road trip planned and luggage ready to load? It gets worse... I walk around car for inspection and front tires look bad, worn down. I mention to clerk and received no response. I get in the car and warning light for oil change is on. Gas is only half full, although form says full and I signed to return full. With all these problems, I finally go in and request another vehicle. The line now has 3-4 pp. The clerk calls me to front and I report the problems. He changes form to note half gas, claims oil was changed day prior, just not reset; and tires have more life. No other vehicles available. Again what choice did I have? They are clearly taking advantage. I take the clerk's word, pray he was honest and head off for a 3000 ml round trip. Tire pressure light comes during trip, I have to fill twice. Upon return, I dispute price and that clerk offered no help, saying security deposit will reduce to $700 +/-. I report to Expedia/Orbitz and they're no help. Suggested filing claim. So that's next. My advice, don't use this Avis Agency. read more

***HORRIBLE SERVICE! DO NOT USE THIS LOCATION!*** I made my reservation on the 8th to pick up a car today at 12 pm. It was suggested through the Uber Driver app, but I also created and Avis Preferred account and linked the reservation. This location opened up at *7 am* today! I didn't get there until almost 1 pm. The franchise owner was the only staff there, and I was the only customer there. He told me that 2 other customers booked their reservations before I did, but scheduled to pick up their cars AFTER the time I scheduled. So my car should've been ready by 12 pm, and their cars should've been ready by 1 pm or later. He told me that he only had *1* car available. Keep in mind, from his own words later, he should have at least 3 available by the time I'm there. He says that I have to wait until AFTER the other two customers pick up times come and go, to see if they show up because if they do, he will give them the car instead of me! When I complain that I was sent a confirmation of my reservation and was not notified that a car wasn't available, he just complained that he was the only one working and he had not had time to check. He has been open almost *6 hours* by this time! That's a full work day. It's his location so he's literally in charge of hiring staff and scheduling them, his car inventory, and running his business. He is COMPLETELY INCAPABLE of doing so. He had no explanation, no solution, and cancelled my reservation. I have contacted the corporate office for Avis as this man should not be associated with their brand. Uber should NOT suggest this location again. read more

Do yourself a huge favor and rent a car through Turo app. The experience there was 100% satisfying as opposed to 0% with Avis.

Came to return my car on the day and time it was due. Front door was locked with a sign that said out of cars and drop box returns. I called Avis Customer Service and spent 20 minutes with them to see what to do. They advised to return the car to the next closest Avis. Drove 15 minutes further away to return. Do not rent from this location. They close during nor al business hours! I wasted an hour getting my rental car returned elsewhere. And had to spend more for an Uber to get back to work from a further distance. read more

I chose Budget/Avis because for the past couple months they have been waiving the underage driving fee, which a huge savings plus for anyone under 25, like myself! I made a reservation on their website one week before I was scheduled to pick it up. I called to make sure the price I was paying online was bottom line price and there were no surprise fees when I came to pick the car up. Keisha, the woman on the phone and at the desk was very nice and answered every question I had. They were out of sedans, so I was upgraded to an SUV free of charge, which I preferred because that's what I drive on a daily basis. Very clean vehicle. They close at 5 and I got there around 4:30 to drop back off, where a man gave me my receipt. This will be the first place I look to rent a car again because it's affordable, close by, with a great vehicle and wonderful customer service. Thank you! read more

I cannot remember the name of the woman who helped me but I do know she was the owner (I believe her and her husband) of this location. There was a small "issue" (an issue I had, not them) with the vehicle they were going to rent to me & after I spoke to her about it she was more than understanding & accommodating. Customer service is important to me & it's something that will keep me (personally) as a loyal customer. She made my trip even more special & her going the extra mile meant a lot to me & says a lot about how they run their business. read more

We had to rent a car on short notice and after calling tons of rental places in Austin, I finally got a car at this Avis location. Mike (the new/recent owner) was awesome! He was super accommodating, the car was nice/clean, and the service was quick and friendly. The entire process was seamless - which was much needed when both mine and my husband's vehicles were all of the sudden in the shop on the same day! Customer Service plus - promptly switched my car when the first one had an issue. Customer Service not so plus - when I arrived to pick up my car, no one was at the counter - no sign, nothing. I waited - the gal came in and said she was out on the lot. Maybe a sign would have been helpful to notify folks who came to the counter. Also, when I came to drop off the car, the attendant was 10 mins late. Frustrating - b/c I was also trying to get to work. They don't have a drop box - that would have helped me out so very much. Hopefully they put one in. The car was fine. Clean. No problems. If they had an "on the lot" sign and a drop box, it probably would have been a much better experience. read more

I had a great experience with Avis. My car was in the shop and they got me into a car for a very reasonable rate for a week. My rental was an Infiniti QX60. Which was far better than I expected for a standard SUV. The manager that I dealt with at the Sears location was extremely helpful and friendly. Great customer service. He even insisted on giving me a ride to the body shop without me even asking. Aside of that, the rates were far lower than their competitors. I have always rented with Enterprise in the past, but after the service, quality, price I received from Avis I won't rent from anywhere else again! Great job Avis! read more

Terrible service. One hour before I was supposed to pick up my car for an out of town trip I got a call from them saying they didn't have a car ready for me. I really needed that car! I was told there were other cars but that I couldn't get one for some reason, which shows Avis is INFLEXIBLE and NOT WILLING TO GO THE EXTRA MILE to help a customer, after THEY had let me down. Then, when I asked if I could get a car from another Avis dealer since I still had my reservation, I was enthusiastically told yes, IF I did the calling around myself! The sales counter person told me that he didn't have access to see other inventory in other Avis offices - I was astounded. How, in this age of communication between businesses, was it up to me to find a replacement auto when they are the ones who messed up to begin with?? I AM GOING BACK to Enterprise Rent a Car. They provide MUCH better customer service. read more
