I would not recommend this business or any Avis. I spoke to the one 800 number and I know that Avis "on a whole " it's not a very honest company and they have poor customer service skills. To start, I would say they're dishonest to the point of being thieves. Georgia had a state of emergency with snowing on 31 January. I went to return my car on that date and I could not get past a mile from my house with a level of snow on the floor and the slipping and sliding. It was truly a safety hazard. I called the company to tell them that I live in Braselton and it's snowing very heavily and I cannot drive safely to their location on the highway, and that I would most likely have an accident or be stuck in the snow. They told me it was OK and told me to return the car on Monday. I'm referring to the customer service line. I noticed today that they did not refund my security deposit. When I called to ask about it. The customer service person who speaks very, very bad English, told me that they are keeping my security deposit because I returned the car late. She was disinterested in the issue. If I would've driven their car and happened to make it there and crashed because of the weather conditions, they would have blamed me and charged me even more money. She said no customers are getting their money back because of the weather and because of the conditions of the road that day. She did not know what a state of emergency was and she did not care. Nobody told me on Monday or at any time that they would keep my security deposit. They have all my contact information. I called them in the week to tell them that I wanted to keep the car an extra two days. I was supposed to return it on the 29th but I was gonna return it on the 31st. They told me it's fine and they would just charge me for each extra day. They would charge me the usual amount. Not keep $300 of a security deposit. That's just ridiculous. She said I would get $32 refunded to me. And she said that that's just a courtesy. When I call the individual store, nobody can even find you in the system and they don't give you the email to the owner. This is very very dishonest and very disheartening because I would've referred them to all my friends and family but now I'm going to tell my friends and family in Georgia to never use Avis in Buford Georgia. I am going to dispute this and I'm going to contact an attorney, but I feel almost positive that I'm getting my money back because I'm not gonna let it slide like this. read more

**IF I COULD GUVE 0 STARS, I WOULD!!!!** I am beyond frustrated, angry, and heartbroken over the disaster Avis created. I booked a **7-passenger minivan two weeks in advance** at **two separate locations** to ensure I'd have the right vehicle for a family trip. Despite this, **neither location had the minivan I reserved**. One location called me **an hour before pickup** to say all they had was a Dodge Durango. I had no choice but to take it. **Ten minutes after leaving, the Durango overheated and started smoking** on the road with fire under the hood! I had to pull over, call roadside assistance, and **wait for it to be towed**. Stranded, I had to **pay for an 90-minute Uber ride to the airport** because I was told I could get another vehicle there. Customer service assured me I wouldn't have to wait - that was a **lie**. I arrived to a **2+ hour line**. Furious and already **3 hours behind**, I bypassed the line to the Preferred counter, where I was told they had **no comparable vehicles** to the minivan I booked. I was offered a **5-seater SUV** - not even close to what I needed for **4 adults and 2 kids**. Out of desperation, I accepted it. But when I went to the lot - **the SUV wasn't there**. I had to **return to the counter again**. I pointed out I saw **minivans in the lot**, but the rep insisted none were available. After more back and forth, I finally got a minivan - **4 hours after I was supposed to leave**. To make matters worse, a local Avis employee admitted that **corporate lets people book vehicles online even if locations don't have them in stock**. This is completely unacceptable. Avis's negligence didn't just inconvenience me - **it ruined my trip**. I feel let down and disrespected. I WANT MY MONEY BACK! FRAUD ALERT: Avis Buford, GA Denied Swap, Lied About Cars, and Forced a $100 Upcharge Avis - 1935 Buford Mill Drive, Buford, GA 30519 This review is about the dishonest, abusive service I received TODAY, October 8, 2025, at approximately 11:00 AM. I am a current renter who returned to the counter to swap my unsuitable Chevy Bolt EV for a more practical EV in their fleet, the Hyundai Kona EV, which has a significantly better fast-charging rate. The agent at the counter immediately claimed with a straight face that they had "no other cars available." This was a blatant lie, as I saw a Hyundai Kona EV available in the lot. When I challenged this lie, the agent used two high-pressure, fraudulent tactics: 1. THE THREAT: The agent became hostile and claimed I would have to wait a full 24 HOURS for a replacement vehicle if I didn't take the upcharge option. 2. THE UPCHARGE: The agent forced me to book the replacement car through the Avis App at the standard rate of $380, completely circumventing my contracted Uber App rental rate of $280. This was not a service issue--it was a scam. The agent at the counter refused to honor a simple EV swap and actively obstructed the proper, lower-cost process (the Uber app) to profit by coercing me into paying a fraudulent $100 upcharge just to get a usable vehicle. Avis Buford, GA is employing deceptive, bullying tactics to charge customers more money. I demand that Avis Corporate investigate this location and issue an immediate refund for the $100 overcharge that this agent illegally coerced me into paying. read more

I had a reservation at 10am in the morning, when I arrived, a guy told me that they don't have any vehicle before 3pm, and guaranteed twice he will save me one on 3pm. When I called in 2:45pm to tried to find out the car ready or not, someone sounds pretty sleepy told me whey don't have any vehicle today! They are liars, they only wasting your time! And money! So I used to travel for work and I have a lot of experience with car rental agencies, but this was without a doubt the absolute worst experience I've ever had in my life. I booked an economy car at another location. They called me two days prior to my pick up and told me they weren't gonna have any cars available so I needed to call customer service. I called customer service. I had to call seven separate times before someone actually helped me. They changed my location to this location and told me they'd honor the price from the other location. The morning of my pick up, an hour before I'm supposed to pick up my car, Amanda from this location calls me and tells me that her manager told her all they had for me was an electric vehicle, but they still consider it an economy car because it's electric and they would still honor the price. She told me if I plug the car in at my house overnight then it would be charged, but that was not the case so when I woke up, I had to find a fast charger to plug the car in so I could return it without being charged, but unfortunately, I could not find one that charged it fast enough and I had to return the car two hours late to which they charged me another day at not the same rate they agreed to and ended up charging me over Double the original price was for the car. I've been on and off the phone with Avis customer service over 10 times before someone finally agreed to refund me. read more

I recently had a very frustrating experience with an Avis location that I feel needs to be addressed. I had a confirmed reservation for a weekly rental, and as an Avis Preferred member, I expected a smoother process. However, when I arrived, I was told my reservation was canceled because I didn't arrive within the 30-minute window. Given that it was a weekly rental and I've rented from this location multiple times, I was disappointed that they didn't make an exception or at least give me a courtesy call before canceling the reservation. As a result, there were no cars left, which set my travel plans back an entire day since I had to wait until Monday to get a rental car from Enterprise. I had two more reservations scheduled with Avis through the end of the year, but after this experience, I decided to cancel them. The two employees working on Sunday were very empathetic and did their best to help, so it wasn't their fault. The issue lies with the policy at this location, which led to this frustrating situation. In addition to these issues, I've always rented from this location through my company's corporate travel agency. Even though the reservation is made directly through a third-party agency, I'm still required to provide verification of employment when I pick up the car, which is ridiculous since my work email is included in every reservation. Recently, they've also started asking for a copy of my personal auto insurance, despite the fact that my rentals fall under my company's insurance policy. This is the only Avis location I've encountered that asks for this, and it's incredibly frustrating. When I asked to speak with a manager, I was given a business card and routed to international customer service, who were completely unhelpful. The pickup process at this location is also highly inconvenient. They hand you an inspection report and expect you to walk to the parking lot, find your car, inspect it for any damage, and then bring the report back to the office. This adds unnecessary hassle, especially when they're responsible for maintaining and inspecting the vehicles themselves. I'm not a one-time customer--I've rented from this location multiple times, and each visit has involved long lines and other customers having similar issues. Whether it's cars being unavailable, not properly cleaned, or smelling like cigarette smoke, the service has consistently been poor. Given these ongoing problems, I've decided to cancel my future reservations and will no longer rent from this Avis location. I strongly advise others to consider renting elsewhere. read more

This is an extremely unreliable Avis. They do not hold up to any of the contracts with Uber drivers nor do they make sure to get reliable vehicles for use. As a precaution to anyone looking to get a car from them I'd tell you not to even attempt it with them. You're better off getting one from hertz or just anywhere else. Horrible CS. After my online reservation was made they call me informing no cars in the class I booked are available. I added my wife as an additional driver and when she shows up ahead of me they ask her for a Corporate ID. This only happens at Avis. Every location of theirs sucks. I am a Gold Member at Hertz and Emerald at Enterprise and they effort these two companies and they employees make to ensure customers are happy and taken care of. I try giving this location the benefit of doubt, but every time I rent from here is another issue. The so called owner couldn't care less about customer service or satisfaction. I don't know how they stay in business, but even more so how AVIS allow them to represent their company. I have rented many cars over the years and this is BY FAR the worst the experience I have ever had. Starting with when we got there and the door was locked at 10:20 am. We knocked and no one came to the door, but after a few minutes, a girl hollers from the other end of the parking lot that she is coming. There were other employees in the store, in the back part that wouldn't come open the door. They didn't have the car I had rented and she tried to blame me for that. She was willing to upgrade us for more money! I said I wasn't prepared to pay anymore. THEN, when I go to pay, THEY DON'T TAKE CASH!!! I have credit cards, but we live Dave Ramsey's way and I had brought the cash to pay, nope, they wouldn't take it, even if I gave my debit card for a deposit. Next, it's time to go out and examine the car, as my husband is checking it over, she pushes the clipboard in my face and tells me to sign it. I asked my husband if everything looked ok and she said, Do you see anything wrong with it? Once everything was signed she walked off without another word, no have a nice trip, here's how this works, here are the features, nothing. We have always used Enterprise in the past, but we needed a specific kind of vehicle (which we didn't get!) so we went with AVIS. Never again! And I hate to even write this, but I honestly believe we weren't the 'kind' of people they wanted to help. Nice enough staff but it took over 40 minutes to get a car I already had a reservation for. And then after the reservation info was complete they had to go clean the car. What?? Why did I make a reservation then? Why is it not cleaned already? Scary. There's also no overnight drop box so the car must be returned during business hours only. So not worth it. After I got in the car and began to drive off I realize my tires were low on air. Really? So I'm gonna get sent off on my road trip like this. I can't even. Dreadful service. We booked a car 3m ago. Called up today to confirm the booking and were asked if we would like a Ford Flex instead of the mini-can we booked. Obviously our answer was no. I would like to take this opportunity to thank Catherine for her utterly Outstanding customer service. She is the nicest person I've come across in a very long time. She went above and beyond to facilitate my car rental. Not to many people actually care about the customers experience or needs during any type of transaction. I can say with absolutely no hesitation, that she deserves acknowledgement for how well she treats her customers. With limited inventory she makes things happen and makes it look easy when in reality it must be really hard to do. While in line waiting my turn on location, she had to deal with an irrational customer that was trying to drag her into an altercation about a rental that was not properly arranged by the customer. She remained calm even though the customer was completely belligerent and down right rude to her. She handled the situation with patience, class, grace, and complete control. Most people would have lost it, especially the way she was treated. Not Catherine, she was amazing. This young lady deserves a raise or at the minimum, Acknowledgement for the amazing service she provides. AVIS is very lucky to have such a Stellar employee. I arrived on time and they never held a car for us. And it doesn't help if you complain to corporate office because they do nothing. I will never rent from them again no matter what! have used this car rental facility for almost a year. Regular customer. I've had minor issues with them in the past but the same recurring issue has resurfaced. They have to have a credit card to hold the charge which I don't mind but I always specifically ask them not charge it but to charge my debit card when I return and on 2 seperate occasions they've done so. The first time I let it pass the second time I called for an explination and got nothing but "I wasn't there" by Brittani the manger. But you were the one who did it first time months prior. But see, it doesn't matter. When I GIVE MY debit card to your employee Katherine and TOLD her to charge my debit card, common sense should have moved her to do so..... And Brittani tells me had I contacted them within the 48 hour mark I could've had it reversed. But see the funny thing is... I actually did. I contacted the store Sunday and they never answered. Not only that but the 48 hour mark would have been Monday at 2 pm anyway. I called Monday morning to resolve the issue when the 48 hours wasn't even met yet. I love Avis and pay extra then the competition as a company because they do produce quality cars.... but I will NEVER return to this location. For me to give my business to them regularly just to be treated rudely for an issue that was their fault without any regard to how it will affect their regular customer there's no benefit for me to continue to use them read more

Rented a car to get from there to airport (50 miles) and the young girl assisting me made note that there was a previous damage to front windshield but never filed it so a few months later I get a charge to my credit card for $483!! I filed a dispute and they said their records indicate no previous damage to my rental and told me there's nothing they can do. I wish I saved that carbon copy but never thought it would come to this! I'm being punished on behalf of the employees negligence to do her job!! Don't rent from this location or Avis! This place is absolutely terrible, awful... I was there on yesterday to pick up a vehicle that we reserved a week ago and I went to pick it up. They didn't have a vehicle for me to pick up as I would be going out of town the next morning at 5am. With all of this being said the receptionist didn't do anything to try to locate me another vehicle and wasn't apologetic for them not having a car for me to rent. Also, I asked why would you say you have a vehicle when you don't. I asked to speak to the manager and she never allowed me to speak with a manger. I went there to drop off a car at the Buford site and had to sit over 5 min while the female employees where eating and laughing in the back. I walked over to the side door that was propped open to try to let someone know I was there and When the lady came out to help me she told me I was not allowed to go behind the door. I explained to here that I was standing there (The only Customer there) for 5 min+ and nobody helped me. I told her that the door was already propped open and all I did was looked back there to get some help. She replied that I was not even allowed to look back there even if the door was open. WOW REALLY? I told her that she would not have to worry about that because I would not be coming back to AVIS her response was "That's your choice" . Then she asked me to go get the miles off the car. I told her that was not my job to get her that info. She went and got the miles and tried to charge me an additional $30 for over mileage when I had unlimited miles. after about 30 min of her playing games because she was mad that I looked past and open office door. When several times for her name she would not give it to me. I asked to speak to a manager and she said she was the manager. (I find that hard to believe) She finally credited my account. Today, I called because I wanted to see if I could get a car 2 hours earlier than I had it reserved for. I made this reservation back in February, by the way. When I called and spoke with the woman at the Buford store she informed me that they did not have the mini van that I had reserved and she couldn't tell me if they would actually have one on Friday for me to pick up. I was told that I should call back on Thursday night or Friday morning. This shocked me because the car was reserved 4 months ago! When I tried to get an understanding of why my car wouldn't be there, she told me I could call customer service and refused to help me any further. I called customer service and was told that the local office handles it. I couldn't believe what I was hearing because AGAIN I made this reservation 4 months ago!!!!!!! I was hung up on by customer service when I demanded to speak to a manger. I then called back and spoke with someone who is supposed to be their Reservation Supervisor who could not explain to me why they couldn't guarantee that my reservation was going to be honored. I was told "I can't guarantee that your car won't be there." WHAT A FREAKING JOKE! Why can't they guarantee that my reservation will be there. I was told that they could look at another location, but that isn't an option for me based on my location. I was told they could give me a different vehicle but I reserved a van because I need a van for the 6 people who will be traveling. We will not fit in a car. I was never apologized for this companies disorganization. The Buford office blamed corporate and the customer service number blamed Buford. I have cancelled my reservation because I was told that they would not know until Friday morning if they would have a vehicle for me or not. I can't wait until Friday morning. I do not understand the purpose of making a reservation if the company cannot honor it. My husband and I typically rent from Enterprise in Buford but Avis was cheaper this time. I will NEVER go with them again and if you want to ensure you get a car, I would encourage you never to work with this company. What a joke! I never even received an apology. I had car trouble last Sunday, so after getting my car towed to the dealership, I came home to rent a car for the following day. When I arrived at the Avis counter, I was told that because I didn't give at least 24 hours notice, that I wasn't guaranteed a car, and that there weren't any cars available. There were several other customers in the lobby, and Ivonna offered to see what inventory was coming in, as well as call other locations to see their availability. I sat down to wait. Within five minutes, Ivonna said she had a car ready for me. I love an organization that under promises then over delivers. While I was disappointed to know that I wasn't guaranteed a car (which was not stipulated on the website confirmation), Ivonna went above and beyond to make sure I had what I needed! The only reason I gave 4 stars instead of 5, is I prefer to have a drop box for evening/weekend drop off but instead I needed to take off work to return the car. read more
