I was then told, for the first time, that Hertz does not accept same-day debit card transactions. I was denied a vehicle. Both employees then left the building. When I asked for help on next steps, the manager -- already in his car -- told me out his window to call Priceline. Priceline told me to speak to Hertz. I stood alone outside a closed Hertz location with $790 gone from my account and no car. This rental was arranged for two combat veterans -- myself and a fellow veteran traveling with a broken leg in a halo brace -- to receive proper medical care. Because of Hertz Smithtown's failure to disclose their payment policy at any point during booking, we now face 36+ hours without housing and nearly $800 drained from my account with no resolution offered. By 2pm Saturday, after multiple follow-up calls, every representative online continued to insist that no money had been taken from my account -- while I was staring at the $790 withdrawal in real time. Each one told me to dispute it with my bank. Not one person from Hertz or Priceline provided a corrective answer, a solution, or any form of assistance. Do not book here. Do not trust that your reservation means anything. And do not expect anyone to be standing there when things go wrong -- they'll already be in their Tesla
