The whole staff was very friendly and helpful. They made sure I was aware of what to bring before picking up the car to make sure I was prepared. When you pay with debit they require additional proof of funds for security so I ended up using my credit card which did not require so. I received a Hyundai Elantra Limited which was very nice inside and perfect for my friends and I. Good gas mileage which was appreciated and drop off was easy! This is for the Enterprise on Rte. 112 in Port Jefferson Station. Yelp doesn't bring up that location, so I'm placing it here. They don't really deserve 1 star, but that's the lowest I can give them. Enterprise Car Rentals has the WORST customer service I've ever seen!!! I made a reservation last week to pick up a rental this morning. When I got there, they told me they had no more cars as they had given them all out. While a was there, someone else came in and was given his rental, so they lied about it. They should have given me that one and let the last person miss it!!! They told me they'd contact a nearby location and have them send one over. They made me wait for more than 15 minutes without telling me what was going on. Then they told me they were going to have some cars sent over from "the airport". The airport is more than two hours away!!! And to make it worse, this woman had a terrible attitude, blaming me for not being there at the time THEY wanted. When I made the reservation, the guy (Antonio) told me he was going to put it down for 9:00, so it would be ready when I got there. I again emphasized that I didn't know when I was coming. ON Saturday, at 12:07 PM, I phoned them to tell them when I was coming on Monday, but they didn't answer the phone. The woman told me that they don't hold the cars. What do they think the word "reservation" means??? There are plenty of other rental places and I will be sure not to EVER use Enterprise again and will try to let EVERYONE know how much they care about their customers (or, rather, no-longer-customers). read more

I would never use Enterprise ever again. Me and my wife set up to rent a car for them this coming weekend October 3rd to October 6th. For my upcoming daughter's wedding down in Florida. Unfortunately my wife passed away prior to this event when I called them to change the car rental to my name they told me they cannot do this which to me is pretty sad with today's technology. So they told me I had to book it under my name which was not a problem but the other problem here is they would not match the price that we got it at when we set this up several months ago. How could you not on it on after a sudden tragedy that I am going through with the loss of my wife. This is very sad Enterprise unfortunately I'm writing this review on there a local Enterprise since I cannot find the one I'm using down in Tampa Airport. I would never ever ever use them again how do you not honor something like this with the tragedy loss of a loved one and you're telling me you cannot honor the price I get that you cannot possibly change the name but you should at least I know the price. Now I have to pay an extra 80 bucks to rent this car and the only reason why I'm doing this is no one else had any kind of availability at this time and I have to pay for it since I do not have a car or live down in Florida they got n me by the BALLS. -100 if I can give it -20 Stars read more

I had a problem with a scheduled rental with U-Haul and was desperate to find a way to transport my daughter's things to college within a few hours. Shortly before they closed, I contacted Enterprise and not only did they have a van available, they picked me up within minutes and I was loading the van in under a half hour. They called me the next day to make sure everything was going okay. I will never hesitate to use them again and they will always be my first choice. read more

I tried to rent a car but being told there are only one Chrysler coupe left, which will cost me $80+ per day; then he realized that I'm 24 and thus are not allowed to rent that car. Here comes the interesting part... He re-arranged me a compact car which he previously announced that not available, $40 a day. He was trying to take advantage of me. Not the worst, he spend 20 min just to rent me a car. Poor efficiency. And, this is the smallest car rental branch I've ever seen. read more

I took advantage of a weekend special they had but got the slight upgrade which was minimally extra money and well worth it. Overall a great experience. Experience started off well, the attendants were nice. I then get told I need to fork up some bills or what not because I'm using a debt card. Fine I guess. Then I give my license, now I am then told sorry you can't use your debt card to pay since it is an out of state license. I am then told I need to use a credit card otherwise I can't rent. Unfortunately my credit card has a small limit since I rarely need to use it. I've never had this problem renting at JFK or SJC. I just thought I would rent out here locally since the prices were cheaper. Hopefully these companies will stop doing this backwater nonsense policies and come to the modern age. So lesson learned, out of state but don't have a big credit card limit? Look somewhere else. read more

After going through the hassle of a bad car accident, a totaled vehicle, we ended up here to get a rent a car right away so my husband could get back to work asap, they didn't have anything available for the $50 a day that our insurance covered, after telling them we cannot pay anything over that and that we just went through this horrible experience to start the new year off, with a snow storm on its way, the employee was able to give us a really nice car to meet our price range, it was beyond appreciated and we left very happy, it took less than 15 minutes, they seem to be accommodating and put their customers first. read more

I was initially happy with my experience until I recieved an unexpected bill. I was charged almost 200$ for insurance which was not something that was clearly communicated about during the rental process. I made several phone calls and emails indicating my concern, most of which were not returned. I was done with the phone tag, and all the effort to just be able to talk to someone. I wrote a final email outlining in detail what happened the day of my rental, why I was sure I was incorrectly charged, as well as all my efforts to rectify this through contact with the company. I just wanted to be reimbursed at this point. At this point was when someone finally made several phone calls in an effort to speak with me. Will never rent from them again. We rented from the Centereach office to replace a vehicle that was covered by Geico Insurance. We were told that the only vehicle available was a large Tahoe and that we wouldn't be charged anything additional since no other vehicles were available to us. Gregory Terabeski, the manager, promised us that as soon as a vehicle became available that was smaller and less expensive that the Tahoe that he would call us. He never did, but kept promising us that we weren't getting charged extra for the Tahoe. We kept calling and he said "not to worry, no additional charges." Then once our vehicle was repaired and we dropped off the Tahoe, he kept our security stating that we had additional monies due because we rented the Tahoe. They are the worst company and a bunch of liars. Worse rental company out there. Gregory should be fired!!!!!! read more

Mercedes was my representative when I was picking up my car and she was very courteous despite the amount of phone calls she had to answer being they had just opened. This location was very attentive and I even received a follow up phone call to make sure I was happy with everything. Going through issues with this location as I type. I dealt with an unfortunate car accident that has now resulted in my truck being in the shop for 32 days. After arriving at 7:30am when they open I was told they only had a transit van. No problem, I would try to go in a half day at work and come back when they call me when another car comes in. Not only did I not get a call back to notify me, but the car had an old Mcdonald's bag in there with french fries in the car and other messes. Problem one. After discussing the rental agreement I was falsely led to believe that the cost of the car, plus basic insurance (which I WOULDN'T HAVE WANTED IN THE FIRST PLACE), would only bring my total to maybe a dollar extra per day. I'm a 22year old female living on Long Island, spending as little is ideal which I specified to the girl that was "helping" me. No problem. After missing a whole day, waiting around and having to go back twice these things happen. I wasn't sure how long I would have the car for anyways. Two weeks in time I get a call back saying that they need the car that I have back and that they would swap me out for a different one. This now requires me to go into work late. I get to the location a day after and not only do they not have a car there for me, but I have to be driven to another location to drop off this car and pick up another one. I work about 45mins away from Smithtown with traffic so there goes another half day. This car was at least cleaner! Now. Day 30 I see the charge for security keeps disappearing and reappearing so I call my Geico agent and ask questions and he calls them for me. A day later I FINALLY hear back after calling numerous times saying that is for the insurance and that I will be charged resulting in an added almost $500.00!!?? He calls and leaves a couple of messages trying to figure this out for me and after no call back I try to call. Leave a voicemail. No call back. Call again and am told the manager is busy and that she will return my call. An hour later, still nothing so I call again and I'm told that their hands are tied and MAYBE they can try to help me out? Not only this, but they spelled COASTAL wrong in my email as COSTAL so I NEVER received the agreement through email to begin with! This whole process has been a huge pain! Not only do I feel taken advantage of, but aggravated. Car accidents are hard enough. I've rented at other locations and NEVER had this issue before. Especially after specifying that I want to spend as little as possible? Still waiting on the call back with the outcome however I will NEVER rent from this location again if Enterprise at all and just hope the right thing is done and I am not required to pay this unfair cost. As other reviews state, they just try to take your money. --------- UPDATE::: More than a week later from typing this on google, and issues are still persisting. I called on the following Monday (last week) asking if I could pay for the two days that I will owe - minus the insurance that I did not agree to for that cost - once the car is returned with cash, and am told no. I ask if I can pay by check and am told yes after the woman speaks to the manager confirming. I leave a check in the drop box as told, and get a call back from a man saying they do not accept checks, they are going to rip it up and charge my card $900+. Not only is the amount WRONG and the math is incorrect without any added details of the shop paying for 6 days of my rental, my Geico representative assuring me that there is 100% no attempt to charge me for insurance that I did not want following the original dispute as of the 6th, etc -but I did not receive the email promised by the manager and employees with details for the rental, was told by the man that contacted me today that he will not email me over anything telling me the lie that he is unable to, and received an attitude and tone from him being I was slightly raising my voice since this has been a non stop battle and something that I have received no help with and just continuously am lied to. All of this considered, if I am forced to pay for the insurance despite being lied to, tricked and taken advantage of, the total bill would be $492.44 NOT $900.00 - which even then is outrageous considering the 900$ they received from my insurance to begin with for the first 30days. I am waiting on a manager from enterprise (rather than this locations employees) to contact me and hopefully resolve this matter. I gave 1 star because i had to give something. They are horrible as far as customer service. The car was dirty, dog nose smudges on the windows. The office had no heat, staff wearing jackets, on their phones, lounging back, cluttered mess with Christmas decorations around. They even were cursing at each other. Really??!! Besides that i had to leave a $250 deposit on my car, i told them to use my bank visa card as a credit not a debit bc otherwise the money is pulled from the account. They told me the machine doesn't recognize it as a credit so it cant be done like that. so the money gets pulled. My insurance covered a certain amount per day, they were aware of this and yet "the only car they had close to it was this." i said OK, then they tried getting me to pay for the sales tax, ummm i don't think so.So they wanted me to come in when convenient for them, again i think not. This is me calling and leaving messages for them regarding this and the "manager" was never available and out to lunch, every time, at different times. yea ok. So they let me keep the car and not have to pay the sales tax per day. Wow thanks. Finally, i got my car back. i waited for the money, the $250, to go back on my card. waited 1 1/2 weeks. Nothing, so i call they said oh i see it was held bc of the holiday, its released, checked bank nothing, maybe it takes 24 hours. Check the next day, nothing. Called my bank they said the hold was still on, i told enterprise that, she said shes never heard that before. So shes calling accounting to find out. I asked to be on hold while she called and she said, "well ill call you back bc they might not be there. So i'll wait until the afternoon, then i will call again. They do not follow up. they do not compromise, they do not make it easy or convenient. They are not professional at all. Its a shame bc we rent from enterprise when we go on vacation and the difference is unbelievable. Never going back to this location again. I'd rather go else where. read more
