    Avis rented two dirty cars to me, this was the second one after I rejected the first one.

    Flew in late to LaGuardia. It took over 20 minutes for an Avis shuttle to show up. Then, once there at Avis, I had to wait in another line. When I finally got my car, no one went over the car with me like an inspection and I had to find it myself in the lot. It was so dirty, obviously it had not been serviced, I brought it back. I had to wait again, I was given another car and it too had not been serviced. I was too exhausted from traveling all day to try for a third a car. Using AVIS was a terrible experience for me.

    On a recent trip to New York and flying in and out of LaGuardia, I rented a vehicle from Avis through Priceline. I was looking for a vehicle that accommodate 6 people with a good amount of luggage and a car seat. A mini van seemed like the way to go and the pricing was pretty reasonable. To get here, you have to catch a shuttle from baggage claim. The office is about a mile from the airport. There was quite a long wait for the shuttle on the day we arrived as well as when I dropped off and needed the shuttle back to the airport. Luckily I was the first one off the shuttle on pick up day or else the wait would've been long to get checked out. Customer service was good at pick up and there was barely any interaction on drop off. I didn't even ever get a receipt after drop off. The vehicle itself was on the older side and had lots of wear and tear. Avis in my experience usually has a newer fleet of vehicles. There was a handful of scratches and dents so I made sure to take lots of pics before riding off the lot. I miss the days when someone would do a walk around with you before leaving. Inside the vehicle was not the standard of clean I am used to with Avis. There was dog hairs all over, smelled like smoke, and the windows were super streaky. When the car idled, it felt like it was going to shut off a few times. In New York traffic, that isn't the most safe feeling to have. At the end of the day, the vehicle did it's job. I have never had bad experiences with Avis, so I'm thinking it's just this location because of how busy it is. Their fleet is huge and I just probably got the one janky vehicle that's been through some adventures. I won't write the company off, but I will look at other companies when flying into New York.

    Just horrible in line for a hour waiting to pick up my rental car... they have two people behind the counter and a line out the door... this is ridiculous

    If I could give them a -5 stars I would. Avis rental at LaGuardia Airport is the WORST!! It's 1:22am and they literally have one person working the counter and the line is out the door! The one person working spends 40min per person. This guy has actually been at the counter for 43 minutes!!! WTF - Unbelievably ridiculous!! Update: it's 2:00am and I'm still in line. Now she assigned two totally different people the same car. So the lady on the right is back at the counter waiting on another car!!! I arrived here at 12:33am and I am still in line and it's now 2:31am.

    Terrible experience at LaGuardia Airport. The line is out the door, and there are only two employees working. Meanwhile, there's a separate "Preferred" counter where an employee is just standing around doing absolutely nothing--not helping a single customer. People are frustrated and upset, and the situation is completely mismanaged. How can they be out of cars and still understaffed? Total chaos.

    If I could give zero stars I would. We arrived at 11:45 pm and when we arrived there was a line out the door. It took a hours for us to get a car. They only have two people working. I would hate to see how slow and packed this place is midday during peak travel times.

You have to verify on your own the gas mileage and the condition of the vehicle. If you don't take pictures, you are liable. The vehicle I picked up was boxed in so I had to call someone over to move vehicles out of the way so I could exit. The drop off process is easy. The person who helped me with my drop off said I would get an email with the receipt but I never did. It's better if you ask for a paper receipt.

However, on the receipt, we only drove four miles BUT we were charged for the refill of 9 gallons of gas and the total ended up being approximately $116.00 due to the inflated price of filling up the tank and the service charge of $30. However, having only drive four miles, this would've have been less than a single gallon of gas. To anyone looking to rent from this place, do take a photo of both the mileage and the tank of gas at the pickup and at drop off. Luckily, we have the mileage as well as their website which states how much mileage goes off a single gallon of gas so we have the credibility to dispute. I will say, this issue was easily resolved with an email to the company.

    Ask for Bernard!…read more Bernard was extremely helpful in getting all the questions/specifics squared away for a recent cross country move for a retiree. We were able to check out comparable 16 footer trucks prior to the rental, which definitely helped map out how we were going to pack the truck. The rental did start a little late as the truck was still in transit to the location but when it did arrive, we got essentially a new truck with less than 100 miles on the odometer, which was super ideal. Bernard also comped a hand truck to help with the move, so that was definitely appreciated! During the trip, noticed that SirrusXM was also included, which made a 36+ hour drive so much easier not having to search for nearby radio stations across the states. This truck also had two USB ports, two cigarette plugs, a standard electrical plug and a rocking AC. The captain chairs are still somewhat uncomfortable and don't recline very much but hey, these trucks aren't built for comfort,.... PS Bernard is definitely skilled with parking trucks. Watching him park a 25+footer, I swear I thought for sure he was going to side swipe the porch to the office trailer but he made it, with no more than 2 inches to spare. I'd trust this guy to park anything with more than 4 wheels.

On a cold and early November morning at 4:30AM I arrived for my 5:00AM pickup at their LIC location. No one was there. I called and was emailing and waiting until around 5:30 AM and then had to scramble to find somewhere in Manhattan to rent a van for a film shoot I was producing. TIME IS MONEY and this company screwed me over. I received a call from them about 7 hours later. And the man on the phone stated arguing with me about the booking, which I had called to confirm a few days prior. Eventually he apologized and said he just forgot and that's what happened. This literally wrecked my entire day. Why would anyone ever use a vehicle company that isn't reliable. The guy reimbursed me for the cab I took into the city with all of my film gear to cc van rental.
