The employee who checked us out lied about the insurance price, and when I brought this up at return, the staff member there apologized and--without me asking for anything--offered to comp me one rental day and said the refund would go back to my card. It's now been almost two months, and despite a conversation with the manager, Justin, who assured me it would be handled, and a follow‑up call to the 1‑888 number where I was told someone would get back to me "right away," I have received no call and not a single cent of the promised refund. This location demonstrates deceitful business practices from top to bottom. I fully intend to escalate this, because wrong is wrong.

The manager K. got smart and hung the phone up. I called corporate and they will investigate. The service was poor from the beginning. I waited all day for them to provide the vehicle and then got one with tags that expired and was disrespected. I have photos daily of the car and expired tags. I was given no receipt. I was told that at least I didn't charge you. The fact is that is was not operable and remained in my yard. I didn't want the liability with a car that was on my property and was not supposed to be there. Supervior K. hung up within a minute phone call. I asked for compensation for the car being in my yard and was told at least we didn't charge you. Ignorant

So, you can imagine my relief and appreciation when I approached the counter to talk to a smiling, pleasant, welcoming person who informed me I was getting an upgraded (to small SUV) vehicle. He quickly took care of things, handed me my key, and told me the number and location of the parking spot of my vehicle. It was amazingly quick and easy. The vehicle was great and I had a safe trip. Despite being quite busy during the holidays, the staff remained friendly and helpful, which is always a plus. The staff we interacted with, although friendly and helpful, was obviously new. She continually asked her colleague for help and clarification, which is fine. However, she did not know the difference between a convertible car seat and a booster car seat. We rented a convertible car seat to help reduce the baggage we were carrying during our travels, but she gave us a booster seat. Although it was clean, it was not the correct one that would safely fit our almost 2 year old child. We waiting in line again only for her to give us a dirty convertible car seat. Thankfully, the SUV we rented was clean and comfortable during our holiday stay on the east coast. We did not have any issues with the SUV at all, which I'm very thankful for. Overall, the service was decent, but all new staff need basic training on the different types of car seats for babies, toddlers, and children. They should also improve the cleaning of all car seats being rented out to patrons as well. Other than that, my husband and I were relatively pleased with the service and the car we rented.

Mary is working diligently to make sure customers have a positive experience moving forward. She is VERY aware of the issues and is taking steps to ensure these types of customer experiences no longer happen. Updating this review from 1 star to 3 stars. Making an appointment does you absolutely no good at all. I live 40 minutes away so I have no other choice than to wait for my vehicle. The last two times it has taken in excess of 3 hours to get in and out for routine service that is required by my warranty even though I had an appointment. The staff is unbelievably unprofessional while also maintaining a complete and constant state of confusion. On two occasions, they have tried to charge me for oil changes and filters that are covered by the Platinum TOYOGUARD warranty that I paid for when I bought my vehicle. ALWAYS check your bill as this tactic seems to be routine. I have 2 recalls on my vehicle that have no remedy available. This has been the case for months. Also expect to get a text message with an offer to buy your vehicle once you check in. I'm not there to sell, I'm there for SERVICE. The staff is equipped with a lot of technology that they are either unable or don't know how to use. Loads of efficiency can be achieved with technology if it is used and applied correctly. Rice seems to throw technology at the wall to see what sticks at the expense of customer service quality. Before leaving this review I contacted Mary Rice directly via email. She initially responded with concern and asked that I call her. I did and received a text message back with a canned response that security footage had been reviewed and the service team had been briefed on how they can improve. So they received a stern talking to with no repercussions for their unprofessional behavior. I don't leave negative reviews without first giving company management a chance to rectify the problems. Clearly, they don't care either. I bought my first Toyota from Rice Toyota in 1977 and I bought my last one in 2023.

We called and scheduled the time for arrival from Brock, 1/2 of the Gold Transportation team for 7pm. Sherry, the second 1/2 of Gold arrived 5 minutes prior to 7pm. The ride was $5 one way so $10 total. Equivalent to the price of parking, it was well worth the ride to not have to worry about the hassle. Sherry gave us her business card and told us exactly where she would be after the show but to call if we could not find her. When we walked towards where she dropped us off, she was walking towards us to be sure we found where she was. She has a great memory because I saw her and Brock do this to other passengers too. This was an amazing service. We will utilize their services again when we are in the area for other events.
