The sale must've been with Avis this week. Had the longer line, but despite that, we got our vehicle pretty quick. The car wasn't in the best shape and had some pretty serious damage to the front bumper, but it was easily documented and no issues afterwards.

Screenshot of email from Avis customer service blaming me (wow...)

As a longtime Avis customer, I'm disappointed to say that my experience with the New Orleans location was one of the worst I've had with any rental company. Months after returning a vehicle in perfect condition, I received a letter claiming vague, undocumented damage--without any photos or specifics. I was charged over $1,300 until I spent significant time disputing the claim. Eventually, Avis dropped the charge as a "one-time courtesy," but only after implying that the incident was somehow my fault for not having taken photos at pickup and drop-off. This on top of the fact that "the location has not provided documented of the condition of the vehicle". Since then, I've followed AVIS's advice religiously. But in a more recent experience, even after immediately reporting damage and submitting evidence, I was met with a convoluted process, rejected uploads, and a lack of clarity. The burden consistently falls on the customer--even when Avis delivers a damaged vehicle. This is not how a reputable company should treat loyal customers. If you rent from Avis, take full 360° video before and after your rental--because even if you do everything right, you may still find yourself being blamed.

Absolutely the worse car rental experience (with one caveat at the end). FYI, I've been an AVIS customer for 20+ years going back to the days when I was a "road warrior" and renting 1-2x/week. Back then, things were much better. I flew into MSY and went to go pick up my car in the Preferred Select area. I couldn't believe what I saw. The Chevy Malibu had a damaged front bumper from a collision. The passenger's side mirror was inoperative and the car was covered in scratches. I went back to the Preferred Select desk and said that I was refusing the car for safety reasons. The lady behind the desk got an attitude and told me that they were out of cars and that was all that was available. I went back to the car and then pulled up the Avis app on my phone and saw that I could book quite a few vehicles. I was pissed. I went back to the desk and there was another person working there. I showed her the photos of the damage and she said, "Wow. I cannot believe that car is on the lot. Let me help you. Here, your new car is in space C9". I thanked her, went to C9 and the new car was fine. I will never rent from AVIS at this location again. I suggest that you do not rent from this location either.

The day after we arrived, we picked up the rental car. We drove only 0.9 miles back to our hotel, parked the car, and went inside to grab our things before heading to the venue. When we came back out and started to leave, we backed the car out of the parking space and immediately heard a dragging noise. I stopped the car right away and got out to inspect it. The entire front-right section of the bumper was hanging off. I immediately called NOLA Rental and spoke with someone I believe was named Devon. I took photos and sent them to him, explaining that their car had literally fallen apart after less than a mile of driving. He told me to bring the vehicle back and that they would provide another car. When I arrived, Devon was already prepared to switch us into another vehicle. My two grown sons had followed me from the hotel and were outside inspecting the damaged car while I was inside. Devon came outside with me to look at the vehicle, and all four of us clearly saw that several zip ties were holding the bumper together. We also observed that the front bolts underneath the bumper were completely missing. I made the mistake of not taking more photos at that moment because we were standing there with their own employee, all looking at the obvious pre-existing damage. I believed that would be sufficient. A couple of weeks later, I noticed that NOLA Rental attempted to charge my bank card twice on the same day--once for $300 and again for $250. I immediately called and spoke with who I believe was Devon. I explained who I was and asked what was going on. One additional detail that raised concerns for me: during that call, he seemed confused and initially thought I was someone else. He kept referring to an incident involving a vehicle that had allegedly been parked at the airport and had hit a post. I had to repeatedly explain who I was and which rental I was calling about. Whether it was simple confusion or something else, it did not inspire confidence. After I explained the situation, he told me he did not know why his manager had attempted the charges and said he would have her call me back. The next day, they filed a claim with my insurance company. That claim is currently under investigation. Since then, they have attempted two more charges to my card. I have called numerous times, and every time I am told someone will call me back. No one has ever returned my calls. As if that wasn't enough, the replacement vehicle they gave us had a passenger-side seatbelt that was folded and jammed inside the buckle assembly, making that seatbelt completely unusable. If you absolutely must rent from this company, take photos and videos of every inch of the vehicle before leaving the lot. Document the exterior, interior, wheels, bumpers, and undercarriage. The rental contract stated there was no damage to the front of the vehicle. However, I later found photos in a review from 2024 that appear to show previous damage to the same area of the front bumper. I am grateful that the wedding itself was beautiful because dealing with this company was an incredibly ugly experience. Months later, it is still not resolved, and I am still dealing with the insurance claim and unauthorized charge attempts. Based on my experience, I would strongly recommend renting elsewhere. One additional detail that raised concerns for me: when I first called after noticing the attempted charges on my card, the employee I spoke with seemed confused and initially thought I was someone else. He kept referring to an incident involving a vehicle that had allegedly been parked at the airport and had hit a post. I had to repeatedly explain who I was and which rental I was calling about. Given that confusion, it left me wondering how many damage claims and disputes they may have been dealing with involving this vehicle or other rentals. I can't say for certain what happened in those other situations, but the conversation did not inspire confidence.

I rented a small SUV well in advance on 19 Mar 2026 for 6 days and turned it in on March 25th, 2026, approximately 2 hours early due to the TSA shut down. No one was there when I picked up the car, to do an inspection or walk through. I was just told by another National RAC employees to pick "whatever" and drive off. Not cool. When I returned, I was met by another rude, AA woman who did not look at the car, treat me like a valued customer, nor thank me for my patronage to ERAC. I completed a phone text survey and asked to speak to a manager, which never happened. No military or disabled veteran discounts ever offered, just fleece us for every last dollar. They charged me $8.96 for fueling costs, even though I tuned the car in with a full tank. I understand sales taxes, but unreasonable service charges and fees for crappy, non-existent customer service came out to an additional $102.20. What a rip off! Not happy with Enterprise Rent a Car. I reserved my rental through Expedia, so I had already been charged prior to picking up the rental. I have comprehensive car insurance that covers car rentals and used my American Express card to pay for the rental, which also provides some coverage for rental cars. When I picked up the car, the agent who assisted me made it seem like she would not give me the rental unless I took one of their additional insurance coverages. She claimed that my personal car insurance would not cover liability. It was late and I couldn't pull up my personal car insurance information nor call my insurance agent. So, I acquiesced in taking liability coverage so that I could get my rental and end my long day of traveling! The next day, I called my insurance agent and confirmed that I had liability coverage. I then went to the closest Dollar Car rental (different from where I picked up). I explained what had happened, that I felt pressured to take the coverage or I wouldn't be able to rent the car and that I did in fact have liability coverage. So, I requested the extra insurance be taken off. The agent who helped me then was very nice and even called the manager at the pick up location. While they couldn't make an adjustment during the rental period, I was promised a refund adjustment when I returned the rental. This second agent put everything in writing on my rental agreement, then he and I signed and dated it. When I returned the car, everything went very smoothly. I received a full refund of the original extra insurance charge. Besides the hassle with the pick up agent, pick up was easy and the car was great! Drop off was also very easy and uncomplicated. So, in the end the rental was overall pretty good, but the first agent that I dealt with was horrible and said things that were blatantly not true in order to get me to take the additional insurance. There is a $250 deposit on the rental which seems standard. I was refunded the amount on return. *LOCATION* because of the new NOLA airport being built off site, ALL car rental locations are still located at the old airport. You have to take a shuttle which is right outside of the main entrance from the new airport. The shuttle comes about every 5-10 mins and is about a 10 minute ride to the location. I would factor this in for your trip if you're in a rush to get somewhere upon landing. *CHECK-IN* So honestly the goal is to get to the counter before everyone else on the bus otherwise there's a mega long wait. I ran and got there second but was helped within 2 mins. The process was pretty efficient and the cashier was really friendly. The entire process took about 15 minutes filling out information even though I had a prior reservation. Once everything is processed, they tell you which slot your car is in and you just go to your car! I can see the lines backing up however if there is a huge amount of people on the tram over. I booked for a Nissan Versa but instead I got a Honda Civic instead which was a pleasant upgrade! The car was quite dirty when I received it (see photos). The cup holders had garbage in it, the seats had dirt both in the front and back seats and the drink had a ton of garbage. The car also had something scraping on the bottom of the car so whenever I drove on any low ground, I could hear it scrape. I think it was the oil change flap which is an easy fix. The car itself was super nice! I loved the plug in function with my phone where I could use the GPS function on the cars touch screen. I was very paranoid because it was a low budget car rental company that I figured they would probably try to nickel and dime me and try to charge me for the mess in the car. I took lots of photos prior to getting into the car just incase they were going to accuse me of the mess (although I did clean it all up before returning the car). Also took pictures of all of the scratched on the car beforehand so I wouldn't be liable. When I returned the car, I got my full deposit back without them giving me any hassle. *RETURN* Super easy. Just pulled into the garage and there is an agent to scan the car and you are good to go immediately. No need to go to the front desk or anything. Took less than 1 min. --------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------- Overall, I had a very positive experience with this company. Was expecting a lot of hassle especially with checking in time, condition of the car and to be charged a bunch tick tack things in the car and have to deal with a bunch of customer service after but I didn't! I would definitely book with this company again in the future. Other than the car being dirty when I got it, I really had no other problems.
