Do not rent from this company. We were in New Orleans in March for a wedding and had a very short trip, which made the problems with this rental even more frustrating. The day after we arrived, we picked up the rental car. We drove only 0.9 miles back to our hotel, parked the car, and went inside to grab our things before heading to the venue. When we came back out and started to leave, we backed the car out of the parking space and immediately heard a dragging noise. I stopped the car right away and got out to inspect it. The entire front-right section of the bumper was hanging off. I immediately called NOLA Rental and spoke with someone I believe was named Devon. I took photos and sent them to him, explaining that their car had literally fallen apart after less than a mile of driving. He told me to bring the vehicle back and that they would provide another car. When I arrived, Devon was already prepared to switch us into another vehicle. My two grown sons had followed me from the hotel and were outside inspecting the damaged car while I was inside. Devon came outside with me to look at the vehicle, and all four of us clearly saw that several zip ties were holding the bumper together. We also observed that the front bolts underneath the bumper were completely missing. I made the mistake of not taking more photos at that moment because we were standing there with their own employee, all looking at the obvious pre-existing damage. I believed that would be sufficient. A couple of weeks later, I noticed that NOLA Rental attempted to charge my bank card twice on the same day--once for $300 and again for $250. I immediately called and spoke with who I believe was Devon. I explained who I was and asked what was going on. One additional detail that raised concerns for me: during that call, he seemed confused and initially thought I was someone else. He kept referring to an incident involving a vehicle that had allegedly been parked at the airport and had hit a post. I had to repeatedly explain who I was and which rental I was calling about. Whether it was simple confusion or something else, it did not inspire confidence. After I explained the situation, he told me he did not know why his manager had attempted the charges and said he would have her call me back. The next day, they filed a claim with my insurance company. That claim is currently under investigation. Since then, they have attempted two more charges to my card. I have called numerous times, and every time I am told someone will call me back. No one has ever returned my calls. As if that wasn't enough, the replacement vehicle they gave us had a passenger-side seatbelt that was folded and jammed inside the buckle assembly, making that seatbelt completely unusable. If you absolutely must rent from this company, take photos and videos of every inch of the vehicle before leaving the lot. Document the exterior, interior, wheels, bumpers, and undercarriage. The rental contract stated there was no damage to the front of the vehicle. However, I later found photos in a review from 2024 that appear to show previous damage to the same area of the front bumper. I am grateful that the wedding itself was beautiful because dealing with this company was an incredibly ugly experience. Months later, it is still not resolved, and I am still dealing with the insurance claim and unauthorized charge attempts. Based on my experience, I would strongly recommend renting elsewhere. One additional detail that raised concerns for me: when I first called after noticing the attempted charges on my card, the employee I spoke with seemed confused and initially thought I was someone else. He kept referring to an incident involving a vehicle that had allegedly been parked at the airport and had hit a post. I had to repeatedly explain who I was and which rental I was calling about. Given that confusion, it left me wondering how many damage claims and disputes they may have been dealing with involving this vehicle or other rentals. If you want to rent an unsafe car from an unprofessional business, this is the place to go. On the day of pick up, I received a questionable text message asking me to fill out a form to streamline the pickup. Once we arrived at the airport, we took a shuttle to the airport rental place, which we then had to call to be picked up because it was not at the airport. We arrived at what appeared to be a used car lot to pick up our vehicle. The car said it had 50K miles, but its condition did not seem to match. About an hour and a half into our trip, we noticed the AC was not blowing cold, so we called to let the agency know. They said they could do nothing to compensate for our issue, but we could exchange it. Unfortunately, that was not an option because we were halfway to our destination. Shortly after I called, the change oil notification came, and I began to notice the tires were shaking very badly if we were going over 65 MPH. It was to the point that we were concerned for our safety, so we had to drive under the speed limit to feel safe. When we returned the car, we notified the employees of our concerns. He was kind, apologized for the experience, and said he would note it for their record. After a few days, I realized I had not received my deposit back or a final invoice. When I called, the person I spoke with then notified me that they had charged me a $150 cleaning fee, and if I wanted to dispute the fee, I needed to speak to the manager who had left for the day. I then asked for a receipt, which he stated he sent, but again, I never received it. When I called to speak with the manager, she was unprofessional and needed to address the issue by saying, "You didn't speak to me." She then stated I needed to email them to address the cleaning fee. I had to email them multiple times to get a response. They then noted that the car needs to be returned in the same condition it was picked up, and that's the reason for the cleaning fee. Nothing states a cleaning fee when they finally sent my invoice and agreement. It has been an enormous inconvenience renting from this place. I HIGHLY advise you not to make the same mistake we did. I typically rent through a particular chain, but they were booked and someone else made the reservation. read more

They sent a bunch of instructions on the phone, most of it was confusing. I ordered a economy gas saver car, they gave me the keys and said its out in the parking lot, it was a mid size chevy, not gas saver at all. And i had the check engine light come on the next day after i got the car. I texted them, and they didnt get back to me for 2 days just saying its my last name. No idea, but i didnt drive the car for those 2 days to figure whats happening, once i got the confusing text, i went back to check the car and the light went off so i just used it as normal. But then the return instructions got confused also, so they said they were goinna charge me for a parking fee, and i explained stuff to them, and asked how much the fee would be and they just ghosted me, but i did get a charge on my card the next day. Do not rent from this company. The representatives are unprofessional. I rented a car from August 7th-11th, and after returning it, I had to email the company just to confirm they received the vehicle and request written confirmation of the return. A week later, I still hadn't received my $250 deposit. When I called, a representative told me the refund had been "sent through" and to give it two more days. Nothing happened. Two weeks later, I called again, and the same representative gave me the exact same excuse. I sent follow-up emails--no response. They also ignored my voicemails and eventually stopped answering my calls altogether. I had to get a family member to call from a different number in order to reach someone. It has now been three weeks with no refund and no communication. Based on the other negative reviews I've since seen, I finally contacted my bank to dispute the charge. For an off airport rental, NOLA Rent-A-Car was conveniently located. Shuttle service was acceptable. You are directed to call for the shuttle after arriving at the MYS terminus. Takes about 10 minutes to arrive from their location. Driver was friendly. I would not describe their cars are first rate, but for the price it was a good value. The original car offered A/C did not work, but associate were quick to setup another newer one (somewhat newer 97K miles) but AC worked. AC is a must in New Orleans but we just needed basic transportation. NOLA Rent-A-Car is franchise/network affiliate of Economy Rental so there is a disconnect between the two companies service levels. 6 Weeks after returning car, I am still awaiting the refund of a security deposit ($250 requirement specific to NOLA not Economy Rental. All questions referred back to NOLA. Economy unable/unwilling to address this. read more

When I arrived at the airport, I found out it was actually through NOLA Rental Car, and I had to wait nearly 45 minutes just to be picked up. Once I got to their office, the pick-up process went smoothly, and I had no issues with the vehicle during my rental. They required a $250 deposit, which they said would be refunded after return. When I brought the car back, I was told the deposit would be released in a few days. It has now been almost a month, and I still have not received my refund. I called multiple times: The first time, I was told it was "in process" and to wait 24-48 hours. A week later, I called again and got the exact same excuse. When I insisted on answers and expressed frustration, the representative hung up on me and refused to answer my call back. At this point, the only option left is to dispute the charge with my credit card company. WARNING: Do NOT use this company! They will not release your deposit and will give you the runaround. I saw a really good deal for a 3 day rental for the car company "Economy," and jumped on it immediately. After taking the shuttle from the airport, the shuttle driver informed everyone that if they rented with Economy, no need to go inside the car rental center because a minivan would bring us to them from the sidewalk. Sure enough, a white minivan was parked on the sidewalk. After a brief ride to the other side of the street from the airport, we stopped at an old IHop building, I think, that's connected to a Days Inn. The sign above the Economy sign read "NOLA rent-a-car." These people are the official partner of Economy car rental. After a smooth check in with friendly customer service, we were brought to our vehicle. Not a bad looking vehicle. Turned on the vehicle and the tire pressure warning system was on. I informed the lady that we needed air in the tires and she gave me an entirely different car without hesitation. The new car...oh, the new car! The adage, "you get what you pay for" came to mind. Damage all over the vehicle! The windshield had chips galore throughout! The radio didn't have a button to turn it off! The entire above my head interior was gritty and grimy! I laughed when I saw all the imperfections. While driving the vehicle, somehow the air conditioning was connected to movement...I stepped on the brakes and sometimes the air would blow hot. The ac would be on artic mode while driving! Enough with this long review. Know this, the car worked. Yes it was banged up...yes the interior needed a deep cleaning... yes buttons are missing off the car... yes to many things...but it's just a rental to get me from point A and to get me to various other points without fail. The vehicle did exactly that. I did not lack confidence in it that the car would get the job done. If you have an event that that requires a certain level of looks, then come here and look over the inventory. If you don't see anything worth your money, then go pay extra for the look somewhere else. If you don't need all the bells to ring just right, and your whistle to blow the loudest, then you should be fine right here. I will never rent from NOLA Rent-A-Car again. I rented a car for my birthday vacation August 4th through the 9th 2025 and while I had the car I got an oil light. I had a 202? ,I can't remember the year but a new model, Nissan Kick. Because I didn't want the car to be damaged. I pulled over and had to wait hours for someone to come and bring a new lower model car. I was told that I would be compensated for the disruption in service and I emailed and called and no one ever responded to me. This company is very unprofessional and I would not rent from them as you may have your vacation interrupted. read more

Do not rent from here!! The car I rented was unsafe, unclean and the service is equally poor. This pick up location is off site from the other rental cars and you need to take an additional "shuttle" (Minivan) to the shack over 2 miles away where they eventually give you a vehicle. I got a 5+ year old beat up car with 2 visible cracks in the windshield, numerous dings and dents on the body. Also the inside looked like it had just returned from a camping trip and smelled like someone was currently smoking a cigar in the vehicle. WARNING! DO NOT RENT HERE. The car was shabby with a LOT of miles 89,715. They gave me the car with BAD BREAKS took me a day to figure out what the noise was as it got much worse. It was after they closed on a Sunday when I called/texted and I didn't hear back till Monday morning. They asked me to return the car, an unsafe car. I said it was unsafe to drive they said to use MY roadside assistance and that they didn't have an extra driver to retrieve the car. So now I had to take about 2 hours out of my vacation to return the car. When I got there they were still getting a car ready for me so I had to wait, no apology for the garbage they gave me, no offer of a discount or upgrade. They gave me another car the same model, but this one was not as shabby but still shabby, the passenger window didn't roll down and the backup camera lens was scratched and hard to see out of. The staff was nice but not accommodating at all. From now on I will be renting from Enterprise or the like because they have amazing customer service and are worth the extra money. Also, they are not by the other rental car companies at the airport, so from the airport, you take a shuttle to the car rental building where all the reputable companies are, then they come to pick you up in a mini van. When you return your car it's the same, a ride to the shuttles then a shuttle back to the airport. read more

My name is Sarah, and I rented a vehicle from Economy Rent a Car, your company, on 22-25 JAN 2024 through Hotwire. When I received the vehicle, I examined the outside of the and noted some scratches and took pictures of the damage. Then I entered the vehicle to find the driver side door panel on the floor of the vehicle detached from the vehicle. I went back to the office to report the damage and was informed that they were aware of the problem, and I should not have any problems from the issue. Departing the facility at approximately 1730 (5:30pm) and approximately 1/2 mile down the road the "Warning Malfunction" "See Owner's Manual" like came on. I pulled into the nearest gas station and called Economy and they tried contacting the NOLA office, which was closed. The Economy rep said he was not familiar with the situation and was unable to tell me if it was safe the drive the vehicle. He suggested that I return the vehicle. I informed him that I lived approximately 2hrs drive from New Orleans and was not spending the night in New Orleans to go back to the office. I asked if there was another Economy rental place I may go to to exchange this vehicle, he said no I had to take the vehicle back to NOLA. I have attached several photos of the vehicle damages that made the questionable as to my safety and definitely afford me a full refund of $135.62. The photos include detached floor panel, detaching driver's door handle, detached rear window panel, detached door rubber on both read doors, and Warning Malfunction for as stated before. The car I rent had a long crack on the windshield. I needed to go back to the office to swap the car.

You get what you pay for. In this case it wasn't totally convenient leaving the airport but it turned out to be not so bad. The good part was the price. The car was decent, the radio was the only thing that didn't work properly. You take the shuttle to the main rental car places. Once you're there you call for a shuttle van to pick you up. Everyone piles into a van, in this particular case the driver was unprofessional and not very helpful with loading the passengers. He tried to fit 6 people in 5 seats then insulted a woman. Don't be surprised where you are dropped off. Not the best area and looks like a used car lot. They ask for a $250 deposit and you must provide your own insurance and sign a waiver. If you have an early flight you need to drop the rental car off at the economy garage near the rental car place. Shuttle is right there so you're able to be shuttled off to airport. I would rent again just for the price the people working in the office were really nice and they were able to accommodate my needs. read more

Where do I start? I booked the car assuming it was at the regular shuttle drop off location. It was not, but I was picked up and taken to the location across from the rental facility. I called in advance like the text told me to, was greeted by a guy who didn't even identify he was with the rental agency. Made me think twice if as a woman traveling alone I should go to the location. Another couple got in the van so I went. We were greeted by a guy that seemed pretty high on something. He got my info and I went to find the car. The car inside was dirty, and smelled like smoke inside. It was like it hadn't been vacuumed. There were dents and scuffs galore on the outside, and the interior looked like it had been melted in some spots and was just, well interesting. I got in and left. The USB was broken, can't charge my phone. Crack in the windshield. The steering wheel made a low 'whir' when turned. Small Burn holes in the seats. Finally picked up my grandbaby...tried to buckle the car seat on one side, it won't go in the buckle. Tried the buckle next to it...after digging out crap from the slot, I was able to get it buckled. I took pics of body issues and interior damage so I would t get charged. What are the odds they try to charge me for something? I'll update if they do. NEVER will I book ECONOMY car rental again. Run! Run!! Run!!!!!!!!!! Absolutely the worst in the car rental industry. Where do I start?! Look at the other reviews posted by others. I rent cars frequently 2- 4 times per month. After arriving for the pick up of my rental, I was notified that I had to provide a $500 deposit, not $200 to $300 like other rental car companies. Then I was notified that I had to call my insurance company to verify I had insurance. By the way, if you don't currently have a car with insurance, no rental for you. The additional rental car insurance I purchased didn't matter. I was told that I am personally liable for the car and "immediately responsible for any damage to the glass and tires." Then I was notified that it's extra for each day for unlimited mileage. They don't have new cars, my rental had over 50,000 miles and was two to three years old. Normally, I book a rental, then upgrade when I pick up. I didn't want to upgrade after seeing the selection of turd cars. Looked like all 4 cylinder cars. I had a relatively good experience with them. They offered the lowest price around, $30 per day! But there are some caveats. 1). It's not near the airport, but there is a shuttle. The shuttles bus takes you to the car rental location where ALL the rental agencies are located. Then you call NOLA Economy and they will send a driver to take you to THEIR location. It's not far but it's not walking distance. 2) I prepaid for my rental but they put a $250 hold on my credit card to cover - what?- I don't know, damages, I suppose. That deposit is refunded but be prepared if you are on a tight budget. Everyone was very nice, from the shuttles drivers to the rental agent at the counter. I am a very satisfied customer who wanted to write a positive review for NOLA Rent-A-Car. The Staff, especially, Guimel was very courteous and professional. He explained all of the paperwork in extensive detail to help ensure that I knew all of the requirements before signing. At the pickup office, my car was clean inside and out with a full tank of gas. I did not have any issues with the vehicle. It drove perfectly and handled very well in traffic. The rental fee was very affordable, and the location was close to the airport for convenience, with shuttle service pickup/drop-off for car rental customers. I was provided with detailed instructions for returning the vehicle and when completed, there was a shuttle waiting to take my family and I to the airport on time. I would rate this place a 0 if it allowed. How they are still in business I have NO IDEA! Booked through priceline last minute bc I had to be home for my mothers funeral. After waiting for half an hour for there slow shuttle to drive LITERALLY ACROSS THE STREET, I was told I couldn't rent bc I didn't have my OWN full coverage insurance on a personal vehicle?!? I have NEVER had to have that to rent a car? I told them I had it on my motorcycle, they couldn't take it. Another guy who was also renting didn't even own a car and was also denied. The two jack offs behind the counter couldn't care less either. Even after Priceline themselves calling, they didn't even try to reconcile it. Do not and I repeat DO NOT rent from these thieves. Not sure why so many others had an issue with this company. Everything went smoothly as it can for me while renting. I did book third party from Priceline and didn't realize it was off site. But after getting detailed text messages from them about where to go and exactly what to do. Everything is clearly laid out. The two lovely ladies at the counter were more than welcoming. I think my only complaint would be the shuttle took a little longer than expected but we were ok with that. And the car we got was scratched up a bit, we always document things when we rent. I was concerned about renting after reading the reviews but I should not have been! The customer service was great, they requested info via text before I arrived so that I did not have to wait for processing, so the check-in at the desk took less than 10 minutes. I had to take a shuttle from the rental car hub to the sketchy building they are in BUT no worries...it's fine! I dropped off the car after hours at the rental car hub which is a super easy process. The only downside is that the facility is located across the street of the rental car facility, in which you will take a van that will give you a ride to the facility. They charged me a $250 hold when I picked up the car, which is normal. After returning the car and following all of their instructions I was waiting to see the $250 come back to my account and never did. I tried to contact them multiple times and kept getting told someone would call me back, but they never did. Over a month later I finally got in contact with someone who said they won't be giving me my $250 hold back because it was used for a cleaning fee. I had the car for 30 hours maximum, I left it in great condition, there is no way it needed $250 worth of cleaning. I have now had to file fraud charges with my bank, and try to contact their corporate team because this location hangs up on me and will not even provide me with first names or employee id numbers.
