Reserved a car from here through Costco. Was a bit nervous because of the other reviews and concerned about not having the car. Albrei was the one helping us and she was extremely friendly. We called ahead and she reassured us that the van would be ready by the pickup time. We arrived on time and sure enough, the van was there and Albrei was so friendly and bubbly. She let us know it would be a short wait as they were going to clean and wash the van. It was up in no time. Owen took care of us. He was professional and very amiable and I was able to upgrade instead of waiting for them to fill a tire on the car I reserved. I feel like when you're renting from a small, local location, you might not get a massive selection, but for those reviews with complaints, I would say it's an avis.com problem, not a Lilburn Avis problem that the system allows reservations when there aren't cars available. I reserved a car at the Lilburn Avis weeks before for a one way trip, but received a garbled voicemail the night before pickup saying they had no car, and would have to go to the airport, two hours away in the wrong direction. I called the main office and they said they had a car for me at Norcross. When I got to Norcross in the morning, they did not have a car either. I finally was able to locate a rental at Budget, but they charged me $300 more than the original agreement. Don't do business with these people, it won't work out in your favor. read more

Update: After a row of bad customer service - I have to applaud the ladies at Avis Stone Mountain. I believe her name is Lisa. Lisa was so awesome. Gave me a reliable car and had me in and out on both the pick up and return. Love this location is so close to home. It makes my rental experience a pleasure. Be careful when returning your rental here. I returned it at the appropriate gas level (7/8)-which is how I got my rental-and I was charged $20+ for fuel. The lady just said "sorry" and didn't address that she was in the wrong. Seems they went off miles versus gas level. Just not recommended. read more

I made reservations August 24 for a full size vehicle. Several emails were sent to decrease my time of waiting; therefore, I registered. Oddly, I waited 45 minutes and was told they don't have any cars. The agent suggested that would either upgrade to a SUV or Mini Van which would cost me extra. I was shocked and highly disappointed to wait almost an hour for someone to suggest I pay more for their mistake. The only reason I gave it one star because the agent was working by herself and she was professional the entire time. Avis, I normally rent from Enterprise and they never suggested I pay more for their mistake. Thames Rental LLC, please take better care of your customers. This location is poorly managed and operated. They OVERCHARGE you for your rental vehicle at the counter then tell you to contact customer service for a billing adjustment. Customer Service then tries to validate the frivolous charges. They do not value their customers, their vehicle was dirty on 2 separate occasions and with this Coronavirus pandemic who feels comfortable in a half cleaned rental??!! The manager talked negatively about another customer that had phoned in with a billing issue, it was cringe worthy to see the disregard she had for the customer and her lack of professionalism. This is absolutely the worse place to EVER rent from. I have been going here for a long time and had minor issues where the car wasn't available on time, slight damage, unclean car (even had empty beer cans once) etc., but this one takes the cake. I was given a vehicle with a cracked windshield and "X" marks written on it with a sharpie to mark previous damage. I was told it was all they had (although there were several other vehicles on the lot) and to call back after 3pm for any returns. I called back repeatedly after 3pm until closing and no one picked up, so I finally spoke with someone from Customer Service who told me to take pictures of the damages not marked with an "X" and that he would document it and I wouldn't be charged. He said he was transferring me to a different team as well, but the phone was disconnected. I called back, had to explain my situation AGAIN, only to be told by the team that I could go to another location, but they couldn't check for any vehicles at those locations and my contract would change (meaning my rate). I asked why would my rate change for changing out of a vehicle that I'm not happy with? He couldn't answer and the call dropped. I called the location back the next day and the owner answered with a nasty tone (because they have caller ID) and before I could get my question out, she said they didn't have any replacement vehicles. So I asked if I brought the vehicle back, how much would it be...she told me $80, even though it was only $200 for the weekly rental and the contract (which I never signed) shows 38.17 a day! She explained that changes because I didn't keep the rental for the full time, so I decided to keep it and try my luck with getting a car from a different location before we went out of town tomorrow. I called two other locations and the Duluth location said he had a few, but they were on flats, etc. and he was trying to get them serviced and would call me back in 2 hours. That never happened. I woke up today to 17% tire pressure. I called Avis' roadside assistance and was told I could change the tire to a spare or go put the air in myself and take it back to a location that has a car to swap it out or buy a tire and keep the receipt for possible reimbursement. LOL, so now I'm a mechanic. She then told me because it's ONLY a flat tire, I would be charged for the assistance and have to submit that for reimbursement. This has been a terrible experience and I have spent lots of money at this location. To be talked to rudely and not offered any kind of assistance in the matter is ridiculous. I wouldn't recommend this place to anyone, EVER. I hope Amazon sees the reviews and ends their ties with them as well...what company would want their brand attached to this kind of unprofessional place? read more

This Avis facility lies about mileage. Would recommend not renting from here or other Avis facilities as you have no recourse unless you take a picture of your mileage. I drove to Tampa and back. Should have been no more than 1050 miles for trip and they billed me for over 2500. Car was also dirty from previous rental. Had I seen the previous reviews I wouldn't have rented here. Terrible and I do mean terrible. Was promised that there would not be a problem to only get to the branch location to be told that "we don't have a car available at the moment". I spent days on the phone trying to amend the reservation to be lied to over and over again. When you call the branch, the call is routed to the national reservation center stating that the branch is busy with other customers. That is Bullshit, I'm standing in the branch calling the branch and there are only 2 customers at the branch with one Agent. NO PHONE RANG. Then to be told that we would honor your reservation but you will have to go to another location. Its 6 pm everything is closed the only place that had vehicles is Hartsfield/ Jacksons. I drove 40 minutes to the branch to be told to drive an additional hour during traffic to drive back home another 1 1/2 hour in traffic. Right, I guess I was born yesterday and did know any better. The kicker is I was told. " If you want we can have a supervisor call you back within 36 to 48 hours. (if you can see my face at this moment I am so pissed reliving this moment). My reservation was for 8/16 through 8/18. What good would a call do after the fact? So I agreed, I get a call Sunday evening 5 hours after I would have returned the vehicle. Not all deals are great deals. If its to good to be true it probably is. Enterprises is 5 miles from my location. I'll spend the extra money to be satisfied. read more

I had reserved an automobile from this location. I received a text and several emails stating my care was ready. I arrived twenty-five minutes early and checked in. The representative told me to take a seat while waiting on the cars to return. I indicated that I planned to pick up the car at 5 pm on the reservation. I waited until 5:20 and still, no cars had arrived. The representative stated, 'I have some SUV but there's an additional charge. Other car rental agencies offer an upgraded automobile for the same price if they don't have the size of car the customer requested. The store is dirty, the front door was opened to allow fresh air to enter in, but all that was entering was hot air. It was 92 degrees outside. I called Enterprise corporate office, but the nearby store closed at 5 pm. I missed my early departure for Saturday. I had to wait until Saturday morning to pick up a car from Enterprise which caused me to miss my appointment. I am disappointed and pissed. This is a poor way of operating a business. Perhaps, this agency should consider people with customer service experience, and know how to please customers and retain them. read more

I will never rent from Avis again after my experience. I reserved a 12 passenger van to use for a vacation several months in advance. The day I was supposed to pick it up, they called to tell me the van was never delivered and that I needed to pick it up from the airport location. After calling the airport location, I was informed that a van was not available anywhere in the area and that there was nothing they could do except give us a refund. Do not rent from this location or Avis! Absolutely the worst experience I've ever had renting a car. Only one car was available when I got there so forget about choice. The car was brought to me with the AC on full blast. Odd, I thought, for a cool day. After I left, I thought I noticed a smell in the car. After returning to the car after a quick stop on the way home, it became obvious that the car reeked of cigarette smoke. This office was closed for the day when I called to ask for another car. But "No problem!" I was told by the national office that I could swap it out in the morning at any location. That never happened. This office told me they had no way of doing that because even if they had cars, "they were all promised to other customers." The only option was to drive an hour to the airport to possibly get a replacement. Keep in mind, this rental was for $400, not a cheap rental, and yet a horrible smelling car was somehow my problem. Multiple calls to multiple other locations and to the main office left me with nothing but frustration and clothes that smelled of smoke. The smoke smell made me and my passengers sick, it ruined my weekend and they didn't care. The complete lack of customer service from this location and Avis really opened my eyes to how horrible they are. This company is rotten to the core. Do not rent from Avis, especially this location. You will be horribly disappointed and upset. read more
