I'm literally in town to help my friend, who is recently widowed and has three kids all under the age of 14. Time is precious and I expected fast/excellent customer service from AVIS. That, is NOT what I received. Part of the perks of having a platinum AMEX is the supposed "status" you get with AVIS (at this point, I'm not sure being a loyal customer OR having status with this company is what they tout in their commercials), which includes not having to stand in a long line and wait for a car (you should just be able to walk out find your name on the board, then grab your car). I'm not sure if it's OKC, because Hertz is just as bad, but upon arrival my car was not ready, I was not able to just walk to my car and drive off, and I ended up spending nearly half an hour trying to get my car (had to wait to "find one" with a LOT FULL of AVIS cars) that I had reserved a month prior. Is a month not enough time to ensure a smooth rental car pick up and excellent customer service??? The young ladt at the desk was initially rude, and not friendly at all. I then had to give all my information (again, how is this a thing when I literally have been an AVIS perks member for years) This is NOT even close to being "good" customer service. It's literally the opposite. Honestly, I'm seriously considering going to a competitor that ACTUALLY cares about its patrons/loyal customers. I'm not sure when American companies quit caring about the people that keep them in business, but it is a sad state of affairs. My family and I booked a trip out to Oklahoma to visit some museums! We flew into OKC - Will Rogers Airport and booked a rental car through Avis Rent A Car. It was pretty easy to get to the rental car service from the airport. There was a complimentary shuttle that took approximately 15 minutes to get to the airport to the rental car service. There was no line as we approached the Avis Rent A Car around 11 P.M. on a Saturday evening. The gentleman who was there was able to easily look up the reservation. He was extremely friendly and offered us sightseeing suggestions while in Oklahoma City. The vehicle we ended up with was a Chrysler Pacifica Hybrid Minivan. This was one of our first times driving a hybrid vehicle and were looking forward to the rental vehicle. The vehicle provided had a smooth ride! There were some mechanical issues, such as a warning light for an oil change, the blind spot monitors were not working properly in the vehicle, and it did make a strange noise. We made sure to fill the vehicles gas to the full tank. There was a gas station about 2 miles away from the airport. The dropping of the vehicle was a breeze. We handed over the keys to one of the team members working at 6:00 A.M. in the morning on a Thursday! read more

Picked up a car last night, the oil light came on, got to our destination called Avis and the only option they gave us was to have some tow guy come drive us all the way back to Oklahoma City to get another car which obviously would take up several hours from our current location. They also threaten to charge us $600. For a faulty car. Literally wasted our day and then they offered one day back lol for a day we couldn't even use the car. The service Was despicable. I do not recommend using Avis out of Oklahoma City. read more

Avis OKC rental car service was terrible from beginning to end. Reserved a sedan, which they didn't have when I arrived. Said they would bring a car from the back, and after waiting 25 minutes, went I back to the counter. Apparently it had a dead battery and no one in the back bothered to call the front desk. Had to take an SUV as an upgrade (which i didn't want as it got poor gas mileage), but at least I wasn't charged for it. The car still had trash in it from the prior renter which Avis didn't bother to clean out - soda and water bottles, and papers. Upon return, the employee checking cars in walked right past my car, didn't check it, didn't provide a receipt. Tried to go to the counter, but there were about 40 people in line and they were clearly understaffed. Had to get to the airport and 2 buses refused to take people to the terminal because the drivers had to take their breaks. It took 2 days and two phone calls to finally get a receipt from Avis, as it wasn't available on their website or through the app. Awful all the way around. I have to return for business in the fall, and I guarantee I won't be using them. read more

This has been the worst experience I've ever had renting a car. The systems were down when I arrived, but as I had prebooked a rental, they were taking my information, otherwise I would have been SOL. After waiting 30min to check in (well after my scheduled 11:30 pickup time), I was given a fully electric car. I was not informed that the car would need to be charged upon receipt (the fact that it is winter and Avis is supplying fully electric vehicles that do not have a tolerance for any kind of cold with less than a full charge is appalling). I spent more time trying to charge the vehicle than I did getting to spend time on my vacation. That is not acceptable for customers who fly in with a limited timeframe to get anything accomplished. Moreover, the lack of charging stations mixed with the cold weather made this whole experience less than agreeable. Finally, to be provided with a receipt charging me MORE than the agreed upon total due to the rental company not being open upon drop off for my 530am flight, will never rent from Avis/Budget again with this kind of treatment. read more

Rental #: 615545943 On 10 August, I flew in and picked up my SUV. It had a powerful car scent. I had to open the windows. In a few hours, it wore off, and the car had a HEAVY cigarette smoke smell. I called, but the lines were closed, so on Aug 11, at 0819 am I called back and spoke to a rep about the smell and explained I don't smoke I don't want to be charged for the hiding of cigarette odor. He stated I would get a credit of 200 off the rental and apologized. Thinking it was handled, I carried on with my Gov work I flew in yo do. Upon turn in (2 days early), I noticed no discount. The turn in gentleman said I had to call customer service or come back in 3 hours when the staff arrived. Well, my flight was leaving in 90 minutes, so I called at my layover point. I was given a case number and told I'd see the discount in 24/48 hours. I know there was no check done, no research on the call I made because this morning my AMEX was charged, and the new receipt was exactly the same as I received upon turn in. I am far from a liar. Therefore, I concluded I was either lied to on 11 Aug 2023 at 0819 by the man that was customer service or nothing was done at all. Horrible practices, horrible experience. Unfortunately, I see why the yelp rating remains so low. I will tell my company travel agent I prefer a different company moving forward when making reservations. Lastly, I tried to login to the online portal, but it states no account exists using my email miraculously, BUT, I'm on the app right now looking at my info and my account. I always regret booking with Avis when I decide to try them instead of Hertz (who I normally use), and should learn my lesson. I would have saved a couple dollars less than Hertz, but when I tried to pick up my vehicle the agent at the desk said it would be an extra charge, so it actually ended up being more than what Hertz would have been. When booking my car, the reservation automatically reverted to 12 pm pickup time instead of 7pm that I wanted. When my flight was late and I arrived to get my car, they had canceled my reservation (even though the agent told me they always hold reservations for 24 hrs). When she reentered my information, it tried to charge me double the original cost. The agents at the counter act like there's nothing they can do. Also, don't expect any vehicle upgrades by having a membership status. When I asked for the vehicle I actually rented (instead of the downgrade they gave me), they said they couldn't because of spring break Bottom line, Hertz is much better for the money. If you are tempted to go with Avis, you're better off to go with offsite "budget" rental companies, because that is the class Avis falls into. read more

The wait time for pick up today was over an hour with only one attendant working the window the entire time. He was very polite and helpful but shouldn't have to deal with a long line of frustrated travelers because y'all are severely under staffed. All other businesses in this rental car "food court" were completely empty with plenty of workers who stood around helping no one most of the time. Tried calling the corporate number posted with the store hours but was sent in circles. This experience accurately reflects the very poor 1.8 rating on Yelp. Get your workers some help. read more

Rented a car for a trip to florida and about an hour in the AC started blowing out warm air (mind you it's summer and 95+ degrees), so we called to make an exchange. Notably once we got the van it wasn't even cleaned properly, there were stains on the seats and on the headrests. Arrived to DFW Avis and they made everything very complicated having to drive back and forth, wait in long lines even though i'm apart of Avis preferred. All in all customer service wasn't horrible, but definitely took A LOT of time from our 13 hour drive we already had to make. read more

Not only that but we were given a dirty truck. We brought the truck back a day ahead of schedule and they couldn't refund us because we prepaid. Renting with Avis is really becoming a hassle. I travel a lot for work and the last few rentals have been frustrating to say the least. Customer service is horrible once you actually get to talk to someone. Legitimate tactful complaints or concerns fall on deaf ears. I was stuck with a vehicle in Spokane that had very low limits on how loud the radio could go (could not hear Bluetooth call over road noise at max allowed volume) and how fast the vehicle could go. Now I'm in OKC and stuck with that exact same vehicle model. The rental desk at OKC has one person to handle what I'm currently counting as 17 people in line. As much as I hate to do it because I've been a long term Avis customer, I'm switching rental car companies (non-Avis or Budget) when my currently paid for rentals are done. UPDATE: I was able to get a different vehicle after waiting in line for 45 minutes. Customer service at OKC Will Rogers is much better than Spokane. read more

Would give negative stars if possible. If your flight is delayed and lands close to their closing time, you are not getting a car at OKC location. Counter says closes at 12:30am. Website says 12am. Called reservations ahead and was told, someone will wait until the flight lands, they are aware of delays. Two separate times, our flight was delayed and we arrived at the counter between 12 and 1230am and it's a ghost town. Told by janitors they leave around 1130pm-12am. There's a number to call, and after 3-5 mins worth of prompts, call back during business hours. read more

Accidentally locked luggage in the car before heading to the airport in Oklahoma. The location was not open yet and security guard had no information. We tried to call 30+ times when we got home but they not receive a recording. They say you have to fill out a list and found claim form online and they will let you know if they found your luggage. We have filled out 4 claim forms and no luggage has been found. If there was just a way to speak to a manager at the location, this should have been an easy fix. Will never use Avis again read more

I booked my Avis reservation on Priceline from Overland Park, KS to Oklahoma City, OK for business meetings. When picking up the car, the lazy Avis worker told me I could (more conveniently) take my car to Stillwater, OK airport if I wanted--and it would cost the same. I drive over and arrive to the airport late that night; however, there was not even an Avis at the airport!! So I drive to the nearest Avis only to find out they do not allow afterhour dropoffs! Now, it's very late and I'm doubly misled by the lazy worker--so I call customer service. An Indian-sounding man on the phone tells me to try again in the morning and "maybe" that local Avis will help me. Not reassuring, but okay. Now my business meetings are in jeopardy... you know, the point of my trip. I wake up early that morning after a long night and call Avis in Edmond, OK (to help make my meetings). They harshly offer no help, and tell me I must go to Oklahoma City. So I call Oklahoma City and they insist I will have to pay all sorts of late fees, potentially even an extra day charge, as if this was my fault. No apologies, no searching out the truth--what a sham! As I'm driving the hour and half to OKC, I call the corporate headquarters. By this time, I've been on the phone hours. They said I must pay all fees now, and they will get to my situation in about a week. Eh, I'm not counting on their investigation or a refund. The best thing I did that day was get rid of the rental car. "Customer service" is just a pretense in this company--as everyone I talked to spoke "by the script" and not from an actual "thinking" perspective. I prepaid a reservation for a full size car. The location called me 30 minutes before pick up and said they don't have stock. Moved me to the airport where I HAD to put the deposit on a credit card even though I don't use credit cards. In order for me to get a refund to go get another car, I have to wait for my full refund for 5 -10 business days! These companies take money and it ducks to be you when they can't accommodate. I usually use Avis even though it is more expensive for their preferred service that is supposed to expedite the rental process. But at this Avis, the preferred desk is always closed and there there is essentially no preferred status here. So you might as well get a cheaper car with another company. read more

Terrible customer service. Don't get me wrong. The person I picked the car up with was fantastic. However when calling to inquire about returning the car later then expected, I'd be charged approx another day's rental if I returned it just 26 min after- which was still 7 hours shorter than the 2 full days I paid for. When leaving a review for them on their system, "What's the incentive of ever booking the car for complete full days and just returning early? This doesn't benefit other customers or your company." This would have made frustrated but then I received a follow up email to my internal review for them claiming they couldn't do anything about the late charges because I'd booked through a third party website. That canned response is exactly the reason I left the review I did and continues to further distance me from renting with them again. The customer service phone call I made knew nothing of how my particular reservation was made and told me about the late fees I would be charged. If she needed to look that information up then she should have done a better job asking questions. What's more, by saying the pricing changes if the car is kept longer when renting through a third party website, than they're pretending there is a magical switch out of their control. If they can't meet customer needs when customers prepay with a third party then they shouldn't let customers book with anyone but themselves. read more

I rent frequently with them and the service never gets any better. Their frequent renter system is a joke but that is a corporate thing not specific to this location. It appears that every U.S. city that Matt has visited, he has relied on Avis Rental-Car Company, because they give good overall service and treats Matt really nicely. Matt made reservation for a small compact-vehicle. Avis, which is located inside the airport, gave him a 2007 Ford Fusion for $40.00 dollars a day. The medium size car is a gas-friendly car, and comes equipped with a GPS Navigator system, which is needed because Matt doesn't know Oklahoma City that well. The car is perfect for Matt's roll-away luggage and garment-bag. (Yes, Matt has a suit and tie). Every time Matt rents from Avis, the cars he rented have less than one-thousand miles on them. You can tell Avis treats him well. As long as Avis treats Matt great, he'll continue to rent his vehicle from there, no matter which city Matt goes. read more

Visit #3 I returned my rental 10 minutes after the promised returned time. I mentioned the extra charge to the returning car attendant. He blatantly stated I would have to discuss the matter with the rental car service agent inside the airport. Fortunately I was not in a rush this time and brought the matter at the Avis front desk. Reserved a car through the phone but the agent could not find my reservation. It was the day after the big hail storm in the city so there were a lot of people renting out cars. I was the 2nd in line and I waited 20 minutes before I was helped and it took them another 15 minutes or so to set up a walk-in rental. There were a good handful of people waiting in line behind me (~10). It wouldn't have happened if he could locate me in the reservation system. I found out later on that Avis/Budget also called and sent me an e-mail reminding me to pick up the car. So somehow he couldn't find it. Bottom line is they provided me with an available car and it was new and clean. The returning process was quick and easy. I just hoped there were more signs directing customers where to return the vehicle. read more

Excellent customer service initially when picking up the car. Unfortunately, I had a flat tire when returning to pick up my family at the airport the following day. We did not use roadside assistance through Avis, as my husband changed the tire outside a When we returned the next day to Avis to get a new tire (or so we were told on the phone), we were charged for the gas at $9.89/gal as our tank was not completely full. We attempted to explain we thought we were returning simply to get the tire changed, and therefore did not stop at the gas station right outside the airport. We next spoke to a extremely rude and unhelpful manager named Teresa who was not willing to comp the gas, despite the incorrect information on the phone from one of their customer service representatives. The replacement car that she selected for us was a downgrade as well, from AWD and navigation to FWD and no navigation system. Didn't happen to see a refund from this downgrade on our revised agreement. We generally rent from Budget when we travel. Avis was a couple of dollars cheaper per day, so we gave them a try. I would not do so again. I can't speak for the company as a whole, but I would certainly recommend not going near this company when renting a car at the Oklahoma City International Airport. read more

Be careful the OKC Avis rental car experience is not like other Avis locations. They wont tell you that on weekends Avis Preferred is closed and you will have to stand in a long line with the Budget customers while the counter is staffed with only one person (See my review on Budget) Do yourself a favor and have a back up reservation with another company or just skip them altogether. After speaking to 4 different representatives (upon pickup, at drop-off, AVIS Corporate post rental, and a Supervisor), I have simply been given a credit for fuel charge of $17 that wasn't disclosed when I checked the vehicle in for the gallons being 1.5 less than a 90 degree pickup day even though filled up at a gas station by the airport when it was over a 100 and it maxed out... RATHER than a car that was given to me filthy with food, bugs on exterior of car and not a single item cleaned during COVID-19 in which the company guarantees a Lysol cleaned vehicle to which I was apologized to and told I would receive a significant discount on the elite vehicle rental that stayed at the original cost of $130 for a single day. Definitely will not rent from AVIS again! read more
