When we noticed we tried to return the car and swap it for another. They refused to help us, said that they had no cars, We pleaded with them because it was snowing and we were traveling with a one year old. They had no sympathy and no solution to the problem. They wanted me to drive 40 miles in the snow to White plains to exchange the car. Horrible! You would expect a car rental place to insure the safeness of their cars. This is the worst car rental company I have ever seen. I don't know how Avis allows them to license their brand. It's a two bit shit hole on Mill Plain road. Most unreliable and untrustworthy business I have ever frequented. We called up and spoke with a representative to rent a truck. When we got there they didn't have one. The first response was "it didn't come back on time." Then we asked when it would be coming back and said we could wait a week to rent it. Then they replied "it doesn't look like it's ever coming back." Then we said "so it looks like you never had this truck to rent in the first place" to which they said "yes it must have been a glitch." We asked how it could be a glitch when we spoke with them and reserved it on the phone and they had no response. absolutely awful company. Do not book with Avis. I got stranded at the Ft Lauderdale airport and needed to get home asap. They charged me $1005 to rent a gmc sierra for 20 hours. I drove from Ft lauderfale Florida to Newark NJ. When I finally got home and told people how much it cost they were shocked. I looked up online how much they would have charged me if I booked online and it was only $130. I've reached out to customer service all the way up to the ceo and they won't refund me The difference. My car was dirty and only gave me less than a quarter tank of gas! Mechanic grease on the inside doors, seats disgusting. Then they penalized me for holding the car an extra day $10. Every other company wants you to keep the car. Please pay very close attention to everything on your bill and if you can go anywhere else in the area you will definitely be better off. read more

You will notice that I have an issue with the rental experience but this location deserves a 5 star for their genuine kindness and help. (At the end) booked a car through Priceline.com for a full size sedan. When it was time to checkout the only vehicles they had available were compact SUV's. It was just passed midnight so I agreed to take one if the available vehicles and be on my way. The first car that I received was a filthy and damaged Toyota 4runner. It smelled, had a missing windshield wiper and dents on both bumpers. I found the 4runner unsafe as well as unsanitary so I returned to the attendant and asked for another vehicle. The next car that I was given was a Ford Escape with 38K hard miles put on it. The Ford also had damage to the back bumper as well as dirty inside. At this point I decided to just go and write the company. I rent cars often and expect to have at least a clean decent vehicle especially when spending almost $600 for 1 week. I feel taken advantage of with the whole experience and feel uncomfortable about the fact that the staff did not do a walk around in order to document the existing damage leaving me to take pictures myself. Please confirm that this is not a typical experience that you provide your customers. The 2 gentleman working the desks were helpful and I don't know if they could have helped me further. The only Positive was the 2 employees (Adam & Jennifer) working at the Danbury location where it was returned. They were fantastic, knowledgeable, and concerned with the Issues I had. Thank you two! Awful, condescending staff who interrogated me and withheld a car from me to "verify" the rate code I was using. After providing all needed documents, the attendant begrudgingly provided the keys to a filthy, smoke-ridden car with nearly 50,000 miles. Car was dirty when picked up. Looked like the person who rented the car last time was picking their nose and wiping their fingers on the passenger front seat ( I kid you not). Don't Rent from this location, and if you do check every line and every dollar you spend with them. My wife rented a car from this location, She bought Liability Insurance from Jennifer for $15.72, my wife agreed verbally to the charge, then Jennifer Blindly ask's my wife to initial the contract. My wife made the mistake by initialing without looking because she trusted Jennifer. Jennifer had a different plan in mind and the plan was to "Bate and Switch". when we received the bill she over charged my wife $158 extra in additional insurance coverage that my wife never agreed on. we called them back and Mike the manger told us that he cant do anything because its a signed contract. I explained to him that Jennifer pulled "Bate & switch", I asked him if they had camera in there location and if so to please check the footage to verify what happened . He stuttered and told me to talk to his security team. We disputed the charges of course with our CC company and we called corporate few times to finally get the charges corrected. If it was possible to give this negative stars, I would do so. Martin Torres and Jennifer Palladino are the worst candidates equipped to do "customer service" in the entire world. They are incompetent, abusive, and will try to intimidate you into not reporting them. Luckily for you, I don't care and want you to know, they will screw you over on every contract you sign or try to negotiate. I rented from the Avis location on Mill Plain Road in Danbury, CT. I am not satisfied with the level of service nor the cleanliness of the vehicle I rented. Going there and renting the car was pleasant. The car itself wasn't the cleanest. The dashboard was heavily smudged with greasy fingerprints all over the radio and other console parts. There were also bits of something white scattered about the interior. Returning the car was also simple and pleasant. It wasn't until a week later that a charge shows up on my AMEX bill for tolls. I had used my own EZ Pass for the trip and found that A toll that I had paid with my EZ Pass also was charged to me by a third party company that handles Avis' EZ Pass toll collection. OK - a simple glitch probably occurred since I had gone thru several different toll plazas on my trip. When I called the Avis location to reverse the incorrect charge, the agent said that Avis doesn't handle the toll charges and it was my responsibility to call their 3rd party toll collection company to straighten it out. It is absurd that I would have to call someone I didn't have an agreement with to get a refund. I usually rent from Hertz but tried this Avis location because they were open on Sunday. After this experience, I will go back to Hertz. The Hertz location is cleaner and more professional as well read more

Worst service I've ever dealt with, specifically the one on lake ave, danbury, ,ct. I wish I could give them a negative star review. I called them to extend my one week rental to 2 weeks, they said I was good and I hung up the phone. I brought the car back today and find out they are charging me 10$ a day for every day I didn't extend the rental and 80$ late fee plus the normal rate, ended up paying 150$ more than I agreed to because some etiot at the counter didn't extend my rental. I called their rental reservations line to dispute it and they said they called me twice throughout the week to tell me the car is overdue, LIARS, never recieved any call from them, my phone is allways on and I answer all calls for work. Horrible experience! I had a reservation for over a week with Avis. When I arrived the customer service clerk informed me that they had no cars. When I asked him why I wasn't called to let me know my reservation wouldn't be fulfilled he had no response. He was the one working the night before never thought to get in touch with the customers to let them know that the morning they would arrive there would be no cars available for them. This was the worst rental car experience EVER! I have traveled the world rented mostly from Enterprise in the past but due to convenience and timing I said let me give Avis a shot. I booked and paid for my ticket via priceline.com. The day I pick up my car (that's already been paid for), I happen to forget my credit card and have debit and cash and was denied my car. I again remind you that I paid in full, I offered cash to cover any additional concerns, I was rudely told no. I had someone with me that had a credit card who would rent the car on my behalf they were told no. I get it policies and procedure. That doesn't change how rude and condescending the associates were. I call for a refund for a car I never was able to rent and was told that I would have wait 10 days from the end of the rental period which was next Friday the 31st. So let me get this right, I don't get a car from rental company they are rude, they charge my card, then tell me I have to wait about 20 days to get my $200 plus back, while being jerks. Never ever again will I rent from AVIS and I will be using Kayak from now on over Priceline. Priceline has received over $6k in business from me in the past that relationship is now over because of measley $198.98 and PRINCIPLES of doing good business. AVIS DANBURY=RUDE RUDE RUDE !!!! do not rent a vehicle here!!! i rented a car from avis as a long term rental and i couldnt be more dissatisfied and disappointed with the staff including the branch manager michael torres. i was not informed that after a month of use that i had to renew my contract with avis. about 2 weeks after the month passed my bank called me and told me that avis was trying to secure large amounts of money out of my account. i called avis spoke to mike the branch manager and he was extremely rude discourteous and blantly nasty. he informed me the car has been reported stolen on his behalf and that if i was still driving it the police would arrest me immediately. i kindly asked why didnt he call me before taking such harsh actions to only realize he didnt take my phone number down correctly. i was extremely livid contacted loss prevention spoke to amy who informed me that the branch manager was completely wrong and the car was not reported stolen. she told me that the car was not out for repossession yet and i had until the end of the day to return it. i quickly return the veichle in great shape no damage and the sales agent assurred me my debit card would only get charged 1400 dollars. 2 days later i find out my card was charged 2000 dollars because of repossession fees!!!!!! are you kidding me? ive done business with enterprise and national car rentals before never have i been through such decitfulness and scrutiny. avis danbury has an extreme lack of honesty and responsibilty. they arent doing their jobs correctly branch manager torres is incompetent of a leadership position. avis danbury needs to remember customer satisfaction comes first. go to enterprise their staff isnt useless! read more
