All the cars smelled like weed. I tried three different ones and each one had a strong odor. At that point, we gave up. I'll be bringing the car back and trying again tomorrow in hopes of getting something clean. read more

If I could give this Avis location negative stars it would be a -100. Not only does the owner Brian Gibson need customer service training 101 but his attitude is completely despicable. There isn't enough room to explain exactly what occurred but in all my life I never have been treated like a third rate citizen then denied the rental car and he was completely ok with me walking home 20 miles. I am not exaggerating at all........ Luckily the 2nd try to pick this car up was Christmas eve and the other store manager from Greece NY who is amazing and helped us out. Otherwise we would most likely still have no vehicle to drive after pre-paying for this car weeks in advance, STAY FAR AWAY! read more

What a nightmare! First they try to rent me a car with huge gouges on the back of it. Then they give me a car with half the luggage space. Then I went in and the manager gave me a hard time. Never will I rent from them again. read more

I rented a car at this location through hotwire for $56.99 a day for two days. I was charged $62.99 a day and was never informed about the up charge. It took me over 35 minutes to get my vehicle when I arrived and I was very disappointed with the overall service. I had the same man check me in and check me out. He was slow and it was a very long process for renting the car. The man looked right at my reservation sheet and still over charged me. The vehicle itself had terrible windshield wipers and that became a serious issue as I experienced bad weather through out my trip. I was 90 minutes late returning the vehicle because of the bad weather but he would hear none of that. When I returned the car this man was in the parking lot in the middle of heated argument with two other customers. My bill went from $129.00 to $149.00 to $215.00. I was not treated fairly and I do not recommend Avis for anyone to use at this location. read more

I was really excited when I booked my car rental, it was a really good price and I had a discount thing through work. It also didn't put some unreasonable 300$ hold on my bank card until I returned the car. So I got it all squared away online. I had prepaid for it so I was supposed to be good to go when I got there. That is until I actually got there.. We got there at the time on our reservation and were immediately hit with complete disrespect from "Brian" I believe his name was. The attitude he had when he said all this was very "I really don't give a sh*t about you or what you have to do, I'm just here for a check" and I get it, we've all been there, but it just went down hill from there. Another woman also got there shortly after we did. When we walked inches were standing there chatting, they acted surprised like oh, there are people that are coming and need cars??? What?? They said that they didn't have any cars ready for anyone and it would be able 30 minutes till something was ready. It was a pain but fine, whatever it's a half an hour. He called me in and said it was ready. I was giving my license and the credit card that was used to pay, my friend that was going with me paid using his card not mine. Nothing popped up and said that was a problem, so I didn't think it was. Well apparently it was. And Brian's annoyed with his life tone went from that, to condescending and belittling. I have never been talked to like that by anyone. Ever. He told me that it's somewhere in the terms and conditions, he could set me up with a new reservation but the price was going to be more Bc the price I had was bc I had booked it in advance. It wasnt too too much more, like 20$ I said fine again. He asked about insuring the car I declined, (I had called and talked with my insurance agent before I had booked the initial reservation) he shamed me for not doing it. And wouldn't let it go, saying things like well I hope you have 300$ to replace a tire if that happens. the tone of course was incredibly condescending and talking to me like I was really stupid. He told me that I would have to call and cancel the first reservation and they would charge me a cancelation fee, Even though I was there ready to go and he couldnt just transfer it to be in my name. I imagine this happens somewhat frequently. I asked for their number (this was the first time asking for it) he ignored the request and kept going with all the things that could go wrong and how I'd have to pay a deductible. Then because I was making this new reservation in person, there was a 200$ hold that would be put on the card. I was leaving for my trip right then, already budgeted all the money I would need and didn't have 200 to just have sit somewhere. I said I didn't think I was going to be able to do it. He said fine. I asked for the number again ( second time) he literally walked away from me to look at a car or something for another customer. We asked to speak to a manager Bc he wasn't doing anything to help, he just said that I'd have to call the customer service line but they'd still charge merit her way. I asked for the number so that I could call to cancel the reservation (third time) he told me that I just feel like I should be first and that's why I was upset and he'd give me the number later. It had nothing to do with being first last or in between, he had called me over to help me.... He was supposed to be helping me, not a matter of being first or last, more a matter that we had already paid for this and weren't able to get it, that's why I was upset, not about my place in line..??... So he never gave me the number I had to look it up online and call them. They said that because of his complete lack of any customer service they would refund the entire amount and not charge the fee. That's going to take a few days, so I guess I'll see. That'll make the difference between that specific Avis branch and Avis in general... read more

I cannot believe the experience I just had at this place renting a van. We walked in and there was already a line formed and the individual at the counter was laughing and joking and carrying on with the couple he was helping. I assumed he was just trying to make their experience a good one. When I got up to the counter I will want it to move as quick as possible thinking that all the people behind me we're in as much of a hurry as I was. I had to wait a little bit as he apparently needed to go find his coffee mug prior to keeping the line moving. He was apparently upset that I was not chit-chatting and carrying on like the other couple. He asked me about filling up the tank and getting insurance on the car to which I replied no after he asked me if I wanted it. Right after he asked me he went into the explanation of everything and so when I said no it sounded like I was cutting him off. I was however just answering the question that he had asked. he then snapped back at me and said I don't even know what I'm saying no to. I informed him that I was in the insurance business and so I did really know what the coverage was especially since I read it all online prior to picking up my car. He then continued to make comments either under his breath or out loud in front of everyone else in the store about my perceived bad mood. He even went he even went on to ask me if I worked in the Life Insurance business to. When I said yes he snap back and said well I won't be needing any of your help in that Arena. When we walked around the car I was trying to get out of his way but he then made a comment while I guess I should follow you then in a snide way. He even made a comment to the gentleman working outside washing and cleaning the cars that I was full of sunshine and Roses in such a loud voice as to make sure that I heard it. I'm sure he went back into the store and told everybody about my "bad" mood. read more

If I could give this Avis location zero stars I would. The location was supposed to open at 8am and we stood outside knocking on the door for 15 minutes. The gentleman at the counter was clearly never trained in customer service. When asked for another credit card for an additional driver I asked if he could please explain why it was needed. His response was to ask if I'd "had a rough morning." A simple explanation of why it was needed would have sufficed. He also told us if we did not want to provide additional credit card we could be on our way without the vehicle. When we were asked if we'd like to purchase protection we said no thank you. He stopped speaking, stared at us and said "do you know what you are saying no to? What do you think you are saying no to?" And waited for a response as though we were children being scolded. I said I do not want additional insurance. He said this is not insurance and proceeded to list off all the additional INSURANCE we could purchase. When I informed him that sounded a lot like insurance he responded "it's a fine line." At this point I was fed up with his passive aggressive tone and indicated I thought he was being rude. To which he replied "I don't understand the problem." I will never use this location to rent a car again and will encourage others not to as well. read more

I would put zero stars if it allowed me. I booked and pre-paid for a car a week in advance, arrived at the location and was told that I am not allowed to pick up the car because I have a debit card not a credit card. I do not own a credit card nor will I ever get a credit card again. Everything I pay for is in cash/debit. I had to call customer service and have them move the reservation to another location. Upon arriving at that location they took the debit card but the was subject to a credit approval. Because I pay cash my score is not the best. Therefore I was once again denied the rental car that I had already paid for. After speaking to six different representatives on the phone they finally refunded my money without paying cancellation fees. Needless to say I will never ever, ever return to Budget or Avis rental cars. After three hours of fighting with this nonsense (because a credit score somehow determines if you're responsible driver not) I took my business to Enterprise and was able to get in a car with a slightly higher deposit because I was using a debit card within 15 minutes. Perfect example of a company putting his assets over its customers. If you are someone who tries to be responsible with their money, steer clear of this company at all costs. read more

I left after reserving a car here nearly in tears because of the service we received. The man assisting us was rude during the entire reservation transaction and not helpful at all with the less than ideal circumstances we were in. When he asked if I wanted to sign up for their business program after looking at the name of my business on my credit card, I told him I was not interested in doing business with them after the poor service we received. He became angry and then tore a piece of paper up in front of me and told me "YOU just lost a lot of money. You just messed up big time because I will tell everyone about you and not to use your company". I couldn't believe the way he was acting - I would never allow an employee to treat a customer that way!! To make matters worse, he slammed the door on us, told me he would not note the scratches we pointed out on the vehicle, and then threatened to call the police on us to issue a felony charge if the other woman with me drove the car. A week before the winter holidays, we arrived at the Budget/Avis rental center (by the Sears at Marketplace Mall) to pick up our rental car. We had reserved a Prius (the rate for the hybrid class is affordable and useful given our travel plans) and had a coupon for an upgrade. We were told by our older male service representative that the coupon had to be entered at the time of reservation (so it was unusable) and that he was out of cars anyways. So instead of a hybrid, we got a 2012 Elantra. All this was fine until he tried to get us to buy insurance for $9/day (LDW). His tone switched from brusque to conversational to patronizing and then the ridiculous hard-sell, playing on our assumed fears and guilt. We tried to politely decline but even as we were inspecting the car outside, he wouldn't stop. Outside the tone was nearing insulting with comments like, "Well, you're Enterprise customers that's why you think that" and "You are driving yourself crazy and me crazy. Y'know I have people on the phone waiting to talk to me." It took some persuasion to get him to note on the inspection paperwork dents on the car, to which his response was to buy the insurance and not worry about it. We finally hit the road feeling harassed, and too tired to return and complain about the car's interior (which smelled odd). While Budget in general offers good rates on one-way rentals, I wouldn't recommend this particular branch if you can avoid it. read more
