This Springfield Airport Avis is the WORST! My car would not start day 2 I leased it. I and my 3 elderly companions were left stranded for 3 hours waiting for an agent to help us. One agent told me to get the uber app and get a ride to the nearest Avis to get another car. I had to ask a stranger to give me a ride there before it closed, because I do not use Uber. The car they gave me in place of the one I had, smelled so bad and was so dirty, it made one of the ladies nauseous from the odor. No compensation was given, and I will never use Avis for any car rental needs I have in the future. Fairly warned. Stay away from this Rental Agency Springfield Airport. read more

This was by far the worst rental car experience that I have had (and I'm someone who was traveling twice per month Pre-pandemic for work). They ran out of cars, and they were giving people cars as they were returned. I was eventually given a car with the change engine oil light on. I was told I had to either wait for another car or take this one. I was also told that this light comes on early in newer cars and it would be fine for me to drive up to Kansas City as planned. In addition to the engine oil light being on, there was caked food under my seat and trash, including a flosser, in the car. It was clearly not cleaned out at all. While driving to Kansas City, I stopped in Springfield (about 4 hours away). The light changed to state that I had 0% engine oil. I called roadside assistance and was told I could go to the Springfield Airport for a replacement car. They told me to drive straight there. When I arrived, I was told by the staff that I would have to leave to top off the gas tank or pay them $9.99 to fill it up for me. I told them that I was really uncomfortable continuing to drive the car and asked if there was any kind of exception to fill it cheaper as I was instructed by corporate roadside assistance just to go to the airport as it was safe to drive that short distance. Both the manager and employer told me that there was no exception. I was visibly distressed and told that "a lot of people get worried when the light comes on but it's fine and you could drive it for awhile". I felt like my concerns were dismissed and there was no ounce of sympathy displaced for a visibly distressed and anxious customer. I do not plan on renting with Avis again. read more

FIRE CHRISTA WOODS. This woman is a monster. We came in to rent a car and she was so nasty and rude and tried to sell us things that we had already told her we did not want. We had already paid for our car and the transaction should have been done in less than 5 minutes but she kept on trying to talk us into things. It was like she would not take NO.She pushed and pushed and if that plastic guard was not on the counter she would have been dragged over it and knocked out. My friend wanted to put the hurt on her so bad for how nasty and mean she was. Do not be shocked if that ever happens as she will deserve it. She is ruining your business and she needs to be fired. Please do the right thing and fire her. She has no idea what she is doing and tries to push people to get things they don't need. I have read other things about her and it's not good. This woman is a liar and rude and a sleazy car salesman more or less. She also smelled of alcohol and looked like she could be on drugs. I then had to call her to ask a question about our vehicle and she hung up on me. Please stop this and fire her. read more

Should've checked reviews before renting from this place. As someone else said: "By far the worst rental car experience that I have had." As someone else said: "STAY FAR AWAY!" As someone else said: "A rip off with hidden fees they charge you without telling you." I should've read the reviews before renting from them. I rented a truck, and discovered that it wasn't going to work for what I needed it for, so I took it back. They had told me how much the rental was going to cost, and I agreed to and signed that. THEY CHARGED ME AN EXTRA $20 FOR RETURNING THE TRUCK BEFORE 24 HOURS WAS UP!!! I never agreed to this, they never even provided me with written information that said anything about this BS charge, and I will be contesting this with my credit card company. I rented a Mystery car deal today at Avis. The lady that care of me name was Yvonne. She was a amazing. 5 star service. Friendly hometown atmosphere with a sweet personality. And I even got a camaro for my rental. I have used avis 3 weekends in a row flying back home. Thank you Yvonne for your sweet personality. Give her a gigantic raise. read more

Had a 1-way rental to drop off from Kansas City Airport. Airport reserved me a car here for $50 for the remaining 4 days of my trip. When I arrived here to get my car they said they had no record of this reservation and would not honor it. Ended up costing me $169 because all they had was a mid-size car. This was the only rental company with cars available. read more

STAY FAR AWAY! Very bad experience. Didn't have the car I reserved online when I got there. I got a mini van that was far below what I reserved than charged me for full time even though I returned the car early. Manager Davison was rude when I called to complain. Woman at the counter was very friendly and I enjoyed her service. On return, I filled the gas tank up and dropped the car off - no problem. They were to e-mail the receipt. However, I got charged for a tank of gas and never received an e-mail receipt. Discovered they charged me too much upon review of my credit card charges. I had to called to get it corrected and had to wait while they verified that they didn't put any gas in it. Great service - poor record keeping. read more

Mini van nice and clean. I was charged for a upgrade for a DVD player when it was the only minivan on lot. They did refund me that. Also got charged a extra 125 for taxes that were not added at payment time. Will not use them again. Also difficult to figure out where the rental counter was and where to drop off read more

Pretty horrible experience at the Avis location in Springfield airport. We rent cars pretty often, and have rented from the budget half many times with great experiences. This time the budget counter was closed, and said to go to Avis- the supervisor Christa Woods was on the counter and was pleasant at first, until we declined both of her upgrade offers, and said the suv we booked would be perfect. Then all of a sudden that suv was taken by her manager, and unavailable to us, and she down graded us to an older vehicle with over 60,000 miles and said too bad so sad unless we want to pay extra. She was rude and snide once we declined, her whole demeanor changed and it was obvious why. I'm sure it won't matter much when it comes down to it, but we won't ever use Avis or budget at that location again. I would suggest you don't either unless you like having someone show their control. Rude as hell. read more

Avis was a rip off with hidden fees they charge you without telling you . I thought I was getting a good deal on what was suppose to be a special they were running. Then when We turned the car in on time I get home and I saw an additional $82.89 on a different credit card for an additional driver. The Lady I talked to on Sept 24th at 10 pm there time in Springfield, Mo was really rude and Told Me at first the charge was for bringing the car in late. Which wasn't the case, then She said it was for adding an additional driver who was the only driver of the car. I'm just very unhappy with the whole experience and will never use them again. I own My own business and I know how to treat my customers. Avis has very poor customer service. Also when we arrived they gave us the key to the car and a space number. This was at 9 pm at night in a dark parking lot. I give them 1 star because the car was nice. read more
