Enterprise in Springfield on Kearney is a bunch of crooks . I'm currently a customer that is being robbed even as I type , it's been 3 weeks and they still don't have a car that progressive insurance will pay for 40$ a day they advertise cars for 24.99 a day all the time . This is my second chance to use Enterprise in the last few months. The first one was in Ogden, Utah and this time it was in Springfield. I have to say that I was very impressed once again with the speed and efficiency with which they processed us through and gave us the keys to the car. There was a small line at the terminal rental counter, but I think in total between getting off the plane and placing the bag in the back of the car it took maybe 20 minutes. The car we rented was a mid sized Nissan Altima, which was brand new with under 40 miles on the odometer and the air bag warning sticker still sticking out of the front of the glove box. It got great mileage, but I will make sure to avoid renting another Altima in the future as the handling was very sloppy. Whatever I rent will be from Enterprise though. read more

Another Update: Still, nothing. No call - only a generic email from customer service saying someone from the Springfield location will contact me. I am really hoping other potential customers see this before renting and think twice. Update: It has been 3 days since the 'business manager' posted below my original comment that someone would follow up with me. I sent all of my info over via email (details, reservation #, contact info) & still CRICKETS. I'm not going away, so I'll find other spots to post so others are aware of the way this location treats their customers! Worse experience EVER. We rented a minivan to travel across the country. Our idea was - less wear and tear on our cars & peace of mind renting from a reputable rental company... or so we thought. While I was driving the cruise suddenly disengaged. I actually thought the van quit. Sensor lights popped up on the dash. When we pulled to a safe location and looked them up in the owners manual, they said the car needed servicing. I called Enterprise at 5:45am CT and explained the situation. Not only were we reluctant to drive it due to safety reasons, but the cruise control no longer worked. Mind you, we were driving 1600 miles. That is almost 23 hours (without any stops). So, we were not paying to rent a van without cruise control for a drive THAT long. No-go. After I was connected to a rep for roadside assistance, I explained the situation and expressed our concerns.She told me we could swipe the van out, but we would have to wait for a location to open. We opted to call back after we drove further down the road. Once it was closer to 7:30am, I called back. We were directed to the Brandon/Springfield airport location. The young '"lady" at the front desk was HORRIBLE to us. She gave us negative energy from the moment we walked up. I explained to her we were there to swap out the van and without even allowing me to finish my sentence she said do you have the keys? I replied no my kids are in the car & our luggage, etc. I wanted to leave the car running until we knew which van we were moving to because it was hot. My husband had already left to retrieve the keys while I was explaining this to her. They knew we were coming because the phone csr called in advance. She started helping the next person in line and was killing them with kindness. I'm wondering why she was treating us with such negativity? I heard there is a lot of racism in Springfield... was that what this was all about because I can't for the life of me figure out why we were treated like we did something wrong when the rental we paid for malfunctioned. She ended up running to the back room and slamming the door closed. A few minutes later her manager came out and helped. He was giving us an attitude, too! Like - Twilight Zone stuff! What did we do wrong?! I STILL have not received a call back from this location regarding some personal items we accidentally left in the van... because we were in a huge rush... plus, I was a little shook up from being treated like we were such a burden. My Apple Watch was left behind & hubby's prescription glasses. I tried to disable the watch, but someone already turned it off. It is the principal at this point. I want to hear back from this location and won't let up until I do. This particular location was a real disappointment to say the least!!!!! NEVER AGAIN! I've always liked renting with enterprise. Tonight I showed up in Springfield airport at 10:25 and their counter was closed. Website says open til 11:57 and the rep I spoke to earlier said they would be there till 12am. There was a sign directing me to national with one person working and a long line. I'm willing to pay more for Enterprise for the great experience. I will rethink that in the future read more

I have used Enterprise car rental for several years. I rent a car to drive to fl to see my family every year. I've never had a problem with customer service. Always wonderful service when I rent from them. They do a thorough inspection before you pay. I love that it's unlimited miles, The deposit can be a bit high, but I understand why. I requested a car due to a wreck were I broke 3 vertebrae and traumatic brain injury hematomas on my kidney. I was going to my daughters wedding and needed a comfortable ride from Missouri to Florida. Enterprise gave us a truck with no side steps. let me also remind everyone I was paying out of pocket for the rental not my insurance even though I had full coverage progressive doesn't cover rentals. But I did request a car and informed them of all the injuries. my request went ignored constantly. I will never recommend or use enterprise again. read more

I've used Enterprise in the past and without any complaints. However, at this location it did not seem to matter that I was on their preferred customer program. I was issued a vehicle that had seating to fit a toddler, not an adult. No options were given except to upsize and pay more. When I returned the vehicle after one week, I had the same conversation with a different representative who was astonished that I was returning the car early. Rented a car to attend a funeral. I only drove 27 miles had a receipt for $150 but after I got home they had added a $250 extra charge to clean because of the pandemic. No where did it state extra charge. So horrible. Will never use again and will warm everyone I can about them read more

I don't know what has happened at this Springfield airport location but my wife and I are both long time Enterprise renters and just experienced the WORST customer service. The agent Clayton Bond, Management trainee refused to allow my wife to waive the OPTIONAL insurance add ons unless she could confirm what deductible limits were on our insurance policy. He claimed that was "Enterprise policy" to require knowing our insurance policy details however when I checked with Enterprise plus customer service they said no such policy existed. I am guessing he just gets spiffed for selling those extra services. Extremely unprofessional!! read more

Pick up and drop off were very easy, friendly employees. Two things I didn't like - an Enterprise employee doesn't do a walk around to mark for damages at pick up or drop off. That leaves the customer open to a damage claim months down the road (and we volunteer on a public travel agent help forum and see tons of complaints from people who drop off cars and are charged for non-existent damages months later). And two, they offered to top off the car at $1.95 per gallon, less than the cost of gas on the road. I had to bring the car back with at least half a tank of gas. (We only used a quarter of a tank). I had to take a picture of the mileage and the gas gauge and show it to the agents when bringing the car back. If they top off, how am I supposed to kn ow how many gallons they topped with that I am being charged for? Otherwise, it is was a great experience. Hint to others - take pictures of your car at pick up and drop off to prove you brought it back in the same condition you took it out to save yourself from a false damage claim months down the road. read more

I gave this review a 4-star because we've been long time Enterprise renters and have always been pleased with the vehicles we rented; this vehicle, not so much. I booked the reservation on-line through Costco and got a great deal. (I guess we got what we paid for.) The rental agent was courteous, quick and efficient; we had the key in 5 minutes. We were given a Jeep Compass that was advertised as an intermediate SUV but were disappointed with the vehicle. The Compass is a very basic, no frills, underpowered, sluggish 4-banger mid-size vehicle in an oversized body that is almost unsafe to drive on the freeway because it cannot get up to speed. The passenger seat sits down very low, I had to sit on a pillow in order to see over the dashboard, I had to do the same when I was in the drivers seat. We've been long time renters with Enterprise and this is the first vehicle that did not meet our expectations. read more

This was my second time using Enterprise in a long time (I have been a long time Hertz customer). The person at the counter tried to sell me everything under the sun and up-grades for $25 more a day. The car was fair (Chevy Impala with poor pick-up). Dropping off was very easy and pain was what I expected and they quickly handled the receipt to me so I could get on my way. read more

The car was clean and in good condition. However, the fuel gauge did not register full correctly. After filling up and the gas pump clicking off, I went on my way. Except in the car, I saw it was not full. I had to find another gas station and it took 2 more "fill ups" before the guage read full. In my opinion, Enterprise is the best car rental agency out there -- reasonable rates, quick and efficient check in's, plus they will come pick you up as needed.
