Small backstory...I initially contacted a DJ of a similar but different company name and after a painful process of exiting that relationship due to the misunderstanding, the world was restored when I actually spoke with Aaron of AVL Entertainment. From the initial conversation with Aaron, the difference felt like night and day and he gave us his background and asked what we were looking for. We did not have a fully thought out playlist or idea of how we wanted to approach our wedding and he gave plenty of suggestions and a little bit of homework after all that was said and done. He essentially made the whole preparation for it fun for us as we went through his personal library and ended up creating our own Spotify playlist that we were able to send to him. He even worked with us when we wanted to add a Chinese song or two into our evening as well as provided a projector for us because we wanted to be a bit old school and have photos play throughout the evening in the background. Throughout our e-mails and phone conversations, we felt confident in his ability to provide what we were looking for exactly the way we wanted it. On the day of the wedding, he was professional and checked in with us throughout the evening on the timeline of the ceremony as well as the order of events during the dinner which I really appreciated. We all know how things change or there can be misunderstandings so his clarifying questions were perfect for me. There was maybe one early moment in the evening where I think our dance playlist may not have been played as expected but our groomsmen who curated the playlist had a quick conversation and this was fixed immediately. Aside from the dance portion playlist, all the songs from beginning to end sounded exactly how we envisioned it. At the end of the night, during the cleanup portion, we mistakenly grabbed Aaron's backpack as if our own as well as our coordinator's coat which we did not realize until we were home. Fortunately, Aaron was staying at a hotel relatively close to our neighborhood for the night and was going back to our venue the next day for another event. We were super apologetic and he was patient throughout the chaos. 10/10 would recommend working with Aaron. He provided a competitive cost to DJ our entire wedding (5 pm - 11:30 pm), which included a ceremony, cocktail hour, and a reception. Aaron provided a lot of flexibility in the music we played during our wedding - from our processional song, all the way to our last song. At an additional cost, Aaron also provided uplighting during the reception, which changed in color to match the vibe of the song. During the planning process, Aaron said we could be as involved as we wanted in music choice. We provided him playlists via Spotify for songs we wanted to be played during the ceremony, cocktail hour, and reception. Aaron also provided us the option for him to use his discretion in playing music, but we were particular with our music and really appreciated that Aaron allowed us to be involved in the process. We chose the specific songs we wanted to be played, and Aaron provided amazing recommendations based on our choices. For the ceremony, Aaron provided a handheld microphone and a sound system for our officiant, and for us to say our vows. Aaron also provided an amazing sound system for the music. The ceremony and cocktail were outside, but the speakers provided amazing sound quality for both the music and the speeches. The reception was indoors, and needless to say, the dance floor was filled when it opened. Not only was Aaron an amazing DJ, but he was a great MC and encouraged a lot of guests onto the dance floor. My friends were forced to book him for their wedding in Saratoga Springs because he's their house DJ. 1. Lazy DJ who didn't provide adequate sound for the event. Huge outdoor space and he brought only 3x 10" Mackie speakers from 20 years ago. Even worse, the speakers were all stacked in one spot, the folks in the back could not hear any of the speeches. When asked to somehow bring more sound to the back he simply said that's the max he legally can. Wtf kind of customer service is that. And i was not telling him to turn the volume up, i was asking for the sound to be distributed to the back. 2. Lowest music quality you can possibly find around here. How can you charge $1500 and only brought 3x $50 speakers. Absolutely unacceptable price for the quality of the service. Those were the kind of speakers a friend would bring for free, not the kind that you pay $1500 to rent. 3. No one was vibing with his music. He didn't care at all what the audience wanted to hear. At one point, a friend of ours offered the guy his music USB to play. The guy refused, using COVID as an excuse, and continued playing for zero audience. Music was very important to my husband and me on our wedding day since our taste in music is very important to our relationship. It was by a stroke of luck that we were recommended to AVL entertainment. Aaron is not just a wedding DJ, he is a DJ. He guided us through the music selection process and even encouraged us to think of the music we played at our wedding as another way for our guests to get to know us. The music selection process is as hands-on as you'd like it to be but after a couple of conversations Aaron had a pretty good grasp on what we liked, didn't like, and what we would like the experience to be for our guests. As someone who listens to a lot of DJ sets, Aaron's mixing ability is pretty phenomenal. Aaron has a great sense of flow and recommended a layout for our reception that made everyone feel included in the music and dancing. We also purchased an additional lighting package that really made the dancefloor pop.
