I have always wanted to come to this infamous cafe. Some of my favorite coffee place sells their roasted beans on the shelf, so it raised my interest even more. The location itself is close to major eateries and hip wine bars, so having a coffee break between main gatherings is made easy. My friend and I ordered cortado and cappuchino. Cappuchino was creamy and smooth with little hint of bitterness, while cortado was the other way around, stimulating my tastebud little more. I really liked it. I would say it is comparable to Buon Giorno, which is my favorite coffee shop in DFW. I sure will come back for more. This Avoca has to be my favorite studying spot in Fort Worth! They offer outdoor seating if you want some sun and a really beautiful cafe with lots of natural light if you are feeling some indoor seating. This place is great for a quick coffee chat with friends or a long study session by yourself. They have plenty of outlets for you to charge your devices as well as large windows letting in that natural sunlight! Avoca's coffee is pretty strong and will definitely keep you awake! I love a simple drip coffee, but I also recommend their chai tea latte as well as their teas! Their chai latte is not too sweet and they give you the option for additional cinnamon ontop. :) I also really enjoy their lemon tea and jasmine teas! Finally, their sweets are delicious! While strolling around Magnolia we stumbled upon Avoca Coffee House this evening and all I can say is: "How have We missed this place?" The atmosphere is relaxed-eclectic mixed with a pop of "oh hey, that's cool", the staff was knowledgeable, friendly and extremely helpful when explaining their specialties.....I even had one of the pastries. This place is great, And when you hang out with a self-proclaimed Coffee Connoisseur as often as I do, NewCoffees and Unique Places are a major topic of time and conversation....TRUST ME! Four Stars! First things first - the coffee itself was pretty tasty. Other than that I am not sure how I feel about the place. Half of the chairs and tables were seriously falling apart AND there was a huge layer of dust over where they keep their roasted coffee in stock for customers to buy. A few of the fans are broken. It was just strange. They were pretty busy when we got there, but the barista was really quick and friendly. I definitely liked the people that worked there and you could tell they take pride in their work. I got the cappuccino with hemp milk and my boyfriend got a mocha. The mocha was almost like hot chocolate (which I don't like) - but for some reason it knocked my socks out. It was incredibly delicious. My cappuccino was nice! I had wished I could have gotten a bigger cup. For over $5 for a beverage and for it to be so small seemed a bit overpriced. I understand it is more about the small batch coffee, but I was definitely needing a bit more. I might need to get an extra shot next time. I consider myself a coffee snob. I'll tell you what I like about Avoca, they don't burn their coffee. A lot of the coffee shops that pop up everywhere hire people that really don't know how to make coffee, and they train them all wrong! At Avoca, and I go there every Saturday, I've never had that 'burned' flavor in my coffee. This is a HUGE plus for me (and for anyone that truly loves coffee). It's a really cute shop, too. It reminds me of K-Brew in Knoxville, TN (except the garage area in K-Brew has hammock swings for their patrons). read more

Avoca could definitely be my coffee spot whenever I'm on the Fort Worth side of DFW! I've passed by it so many times when I'm down on Magnolia, but never went in until last week. This place is much bigger than your average cafe. There's plenty of seating outside, and when you enter, the seating area is huge...filled with table and chairs, as well as soft lounging chairs as well. The barista was very helpful and explained to us what was good/bad, etc. I ordered a soy latte and promptly found an open table in the large dimly lit room. The vibe of the place was like your normal cafe...kind of laid back and relaxed. I really liked the decor. There was a lot of artwork...paintings as well as nice black and white photos. The old school stereo system complete with a 8 track player and everything was a nice touch that kind of symbolized the flavor that they were shooting for. I finally got my latte, and it was worth the wait! The latte had just the right amount of sweetness and creaminess. It was visually and tastefully appealing! Avoca is the perfect spot to post up and do work, relax, or chat with your friends. The spacious seating area combined with the decor, the laid back vibe, and especially the good coffee make this a spot that I will frequent from now on. read more

I've been looking for the most perfect spot for my 500th Yelp Review and I finally found it. I'm not sure I can do this coffee shop justice! Did I die and go to heaven? Apparently not, but this place sure comes in a close second! Don't let the exterior fool you. This is by far the best coffee shop in North Texas. One sip and you'll feel like you're drinking ambrosia. Avoca is the definitely the place for coffee lovers, not addicts. The espresso is so skillfully made it tastes just like candy. The roast is simply stunning - it wasn't overpowering at all with slight notes of fruitiness. The staff is extremely knowledgable. I really wanted a roast that would work well with pour overs and already had one in mind. The barista suggested another roast I would like better. Boy, what have I been missing out my entire life? I really wish I would find the right words to describe how much I love this place, but I'm just not that skilled of a writer. Avoca's greatness is simply ineffable. Magnolia Avenue is truly burgeoning. It's this amazing little strip of privately owned, original, hipster spirited venues that has inspired a wholesome sense of community. Avoca coffee is a large contributor to this feeling, and it's a place I haven't tired of visiting. Let's talk about the coffee since its Avoca's shining star. Oh man. I'm not even a coffee drinker (although I've always been a huge fan of a good cup's beautiful fragrance), but I love what I've tasted here. Perhaps I'm a coffee snob?? I'd say Avoca is definitely a spot for serious coffee sippers. You aren't going to find a thousand frappucino/macchiato/latte blends here, nor a cornucopia of flavored syrups. What you're going to order is something classic; a cup of single origin, an espresso, an iced coffee infused with a limited selection of in-house made syrup, or maybe a cappuccino. For the ambiance, I'd say "pretty good." It's spacious, minimalistic, and comfortable. The only problem I've ever had is with the giant, fully windowed wall on the west side of the building. If you're in there when the sun is setting, those rays can be pretty brutal. But, back to the greatness: Avoca uses locally roasted beans, so cheers to supporting community goods! Guess what else?? You can drink Avoca coffee down the street at Brewed, and you can buy cocoa-ful treats from Dude, Sweet Chocolate at Avoca! I'm loving this neighborly partnership going on between businesses. One of my favorite coffee joints in the DFW area! Something about this place just makes me feel super hipster every time that I visit. This joint serves up an amazing cup of latte as well as many other great coffee drinks. My husband and I usually order the latte and the cappuccino, sometimes adding a vanilla or caramel syrup to the latte. From the moment you step into the store, you can instantly appreciate the rich, fragrant aroma of the roasted coffee beans. I love that they use their own locally roasted coffee, and very well roasted I may add! The price is very fair and about average when compared to other coffee shops that I have been to-- $4.50 will get you a 12 oz latte (and I do not recall them charging more for flavor syrup). The baked goods are delicious and make the perfect mate for your cup of coffee. I am not sure about the source of the baked goods but whoever is baking them up definitely deserves the recognition! We have tried the vegan chocolate chip cookie as well as the peanut butter oat. Both were moist, soft, and oh so delicious! Avoca provides plenty of space with seating on the inside. The ambiance makes it the perfect study spot or even as a post-dinner date spot for dessert and a latte. The parking at the storefront is very limited and not worth the hassle of pulling into just to try to find a spot (can be difficult to reverse out of); plenty of other parking spots are available on the streets and in the surrounding neighborhood. I am a Starbucks whore due to the convenience it gives but if i had a lifestyle that wasn't so on the go, I'd be at Avoca everyday reading the books brought in through the share program, studying or have a lovely conversation on the comfy leather couches of theirs. They have so many interesting roasts; I remember having some ghost berry roast. Can anyone tell me what happened to it or if it's still available?! So good. I've been in love with coffee since I was five years old. Solid A-OK plus an EXTRA star for Jacob at Dude, Sweet Chocolate. After a super-fine dinner at Shinjunku Station, we decided to move our party of five over to Avoca for a coffee and some conversation. We arrived about 15 minutes before closing, but noted numerous cars and several people still sitting inside (easy to do with all the windows). We walked up to the counter and the first thing we get is, "We are closing soon. Do you mind getting your order to go?" That kinda threw me, and since we were the first to arrive, I just said "I don't think we'll be too long." Which is true, as I don't like to stay after closing hours. Thuy and I order our drinks and start to look around. While ordering, I notice the Dude, Sweet Chocolate in the display case by the register, and think, "That's it?" I knew they had a presence here (from a trip to Oak Cliff), but I expected more. So while waiting for our drinks, and friends, I start to look around. Cute place. Nice display of artwork, but the space is a tad open and cool for my taste. Tall ceilings and lots of windows kinda gave me a fish tank feeling. I turn the corner, past the espresso machine, and that's when it hit me... Here is Dude, Sweet Chocolate. Jacob introduces himself and this is when I learn the format here is the same as Oak Cliff. About this time our drinks are ready and I wave our friends over. Jacob is very knowledgeable and informative, and the unique Oak Cliff experience is successfully recreated here. We sample some favorites and some new things, and make a few purchases. We are pleased to know the Fort Worth instance of Dude, Sweet Chocolate is a good one. This alone will bring us back to Avoca. Since Jacob was doing such a great job, I fear we did stay a bit past closing... But we weren't the last to leave. I did learn later that another employee told Thuy not to worry, or rush, which was nice. Since there are numerous restaurants on Magnolia open until at least nine or ten, it seems odd that Avoca would choose to also close at 10. I would think it would make a nice dessert destination after dining on Magnolia. I personally like the idea of moving my after diner conversation to a quieter place (Shinjunku Station, on a Friday, is a difficult place to chat... Plus it frees up a table), for a coffee and a perhaps something sweet. But, since this was my first time here, perhaps it's more of a morning/afternoon place. Still, not a bad option, and the presence of Dude, Sweet Chocolate makes it a must if you are a dark chocolate lover. read more

First timer here, but a coffee lover at heart. Came here on a Sunday afternoon and boy was it packed! No seats available. I still proceeded to order an iced coffee, the New Orleans' one, and an iced strawberry hibiscus tea. I asked the barista if they had any pastries and informed me that they ran out earlier that day, a little bummed out, since some of their pastries looked delicious on social media. Three iced coffees for the boys n me: $9.74. They were cold-brewed and tasty. Avoca appears to be a former auto repair shop on a stretch of Magnolia Street renovated by Fort Worth to create a walking district of interesting destinations. Because of the large, movable doors, it's an unusually light and airy place. Music was playing, but it felt more like laptopia (think Atlas Cafe in BBurg or Flight Path in Austin) than a bustling social place with some laptops (Outpost in Brooklyn or Epoch in Austin or Black Hole in Houston). There's also no outdoor space for the occasional smoke (just saying). Avoca is a destination, just like all of Magnolia Street, and the vegan Spiral Diner across the street. read more

Great coffee, with a good selection of roasts that are done in-house. But the problem is that there is only a limited snacking menu consisting of some cake or two and maybe some boring scones. If you don't mind coming just for coffee, then this place will work fine. But if you're wanting something to go with your coffee that's not 100% carbs and/or sugar, then you're out of luck. But at least I got the impression that you can bring food from the outside, such as from Nonna Tata almost across the street. Plenty of games to choose from to play - but luckily someone allowed us to use a great chess board that they had brought in. Seating is ample and plenty - with different types of tables, some with plugs, and even sofas for those who do not need to study but just read a good book. WOW! Avoca's baristas put out a darn good cup of coffee! After a long drive and still several hours before my flight out of DFW. I decided that I needed a lil' coffee break and found Avoca in the heart of Fort Worth in a nice small district. As I park and walk in, you see the area where Avoca sorts and roasts their beans.
