After much research and trying many quality, reasonably priced mid-range mattresses, narrowed it down to Aireloom, Custom Comfort, and Avocado for plush feel and especially coolness. All were very good. Was ambivalent about Avocado having read some negative reviews regarding delivery issues and unresponsive attempted customer service contact. It was Sales Rep SIERRA M. now in Fullerton who sold me. She was both more knowledgeable and personable/friendly than all other mattress sales persons I encountered in my travels. Based on my criteria, she accurately and confidently recommended the best model for me w/o hesitation. What convinced me however, was her reassurance she would handle the sale and delivery details PERSONALLY to ensure everything went smoothly from start to delivery. SIERRA deserves accolades and recognition for her excellent professional efficiency, great patience answering all my questions promptly, in knowledgeable great detail, and followed-thru to delivery, true to her word. I read the reviews feeling hesitant about coming here but came anyway as we desperately wanted to try out all their different Avocado mattresses. Wow, not sure what a lot of the people are upset about as I had a wonderful time figuring out what mattress was right for me with Isaiah. He was so patient, super informative, and had such a lovely soft spoken voice that was very comforting. He talked to me about what I should be thinking about before buying, gave me great things to think about and wasn't the slightest bit pushy. (Before we came to this location we had gone to a Sit n Sleep and had the complete opposite experience.) I also noticed that literally everyone else in the store was tending to their customers without anyone seeming overbearing. Anyway, not sure why this location has such low reviews as it couldn't have been further away from the experience I had. It's a shame you only have to buy a mattress once every 10 or so years as the experience I had with Isaiah was so pleasant. Either way, you're likely looking at Avocado for their sustainable options and I think that the mattresses are great quality, and not as painful on your wallet as some of the mattress options out there. Two stars is quite generous. I went into the store on 4/19/25 to look for some queen sized sheets. I first looked in the giant, but empty, outlet part of the store. I was greeted by Aaron who was there to help, but wasn't overbearing or pushy. That's where the good customer service ends. The store was empty on a Saturday morning. Now I know for good reason. The Fullerton location has very little product in stock. The outlet items were almost all twin sized bedding. The actual store front wasn't much better. I asked about some percale cotton sheets that I saw online. Aaron said they were discontinued and that's why they had none in-stock. The website gives no indication that they're discontinued, but okay. Then I asked about getting a feel for the linen sheets. He had to search high and low before finally finding a twin set in the outlet area. They seemed like good quality. Aaron then said that he could build a cart for me in-store and then they'd basically just be ordered online from there. Okay. Kind of pointless to go in-store, but he did offer a discount for visiting and having my cart built. I was told it would be 2-3 days for the percale sheets to ship and 7-10 days for the linen sheets to ship. The percale sheets did ship from India 3 days later. However, two and a half weeks later and the linen sheets have not shipped. I contacted Avacado's customer service. What a joke. First the bot told me the linen shipped but the percale were pending. Then I asked for a human and got Kianna. I was told the white linen sheets are now out of stock until at least July and that I was allowed to place the order in error. So not only is the product being sold while out of stock, the stores don't have that info, the website wasn't showing that, and at no point did customer service ever reach out to me to inform me. I had to contact them. While going back and forth with Kianna (it's taken several days to answer a question that should take 10 mins) I noticed the website seems to indicate the white linen sheets are in stock at the Fullerton location. I sent in a screen print. It took more than a day for Kianna to hear back from Fullerton that these sheets are not in stock. So my only options are to wait until July or have the natural sent (instead of white, ruining the aesthetic of my bedding) or get a refund. I've chosen the natural, but now I have to wonder when they'll ship from India. Avocado has its nerve being so expensive with slow customer service at the corporate level. read more

Please note, this review is about the corporate customer service personnel that people engage with online. My experiences were very condescending, unhelpful and discouraging. Buy from a helpful retailer if you're still looking at Avocado brand. I would not recommend buying from them directly. They do not price match and will reprimand the retailer instead if you found a better price and just offer you the same prices you see on the website. I felt horrible about the whole situation and it left me feeling guilty, embarrassed and overlorded. I can only describe my interactions with them as though Avocado feels they are superior to their customers. I wanted so much to love this brand and what it's supposed to stand for. read more

The delivery went fine except the very heavy mattress was left in the hallway of our condo building but that as not the fault of Avocado. We followed the instructions to allow the mattress to fully inflate but had to have help lifting it onto the bed frame. As far as the mattress itself, it's great if sleeping alone or taking a nap. With another person, or even a pet, it's like being in a rolling sea. I would definitely not recommend this mattress and will never buy another one again. Not worth the money for a good nights' sleep. We did receive a coupon for $125 and were able to purchase a sheet/pillow case set which is quite nice. read more

We purchased our mattress in 2021 because we wanted a firm mattress (and they were rated so highly by Consumer Reports). Our mattress has unfortunately gotten substantially softer to the point where it's uncomfortable. We purchased a mattress from this company. We spent a lot of money on the mattress cover. They just did a recall back in August. To get the new mattress cover we had to photograph our mattress cover cut in half. We did all of the following. Now it has literally been months! we bed share with a 15 month old baby and I need the mattress cover/protector and now I'm just completely screwed. We invested so much money in this mattress. I can't believe they would make me cut the mattress protector in half and then literally take 3+ months to send us a replacement. I emailed a while ago and they said it would be coming soon. And it's been a few weeks now and still nothing. This is absolutely ridiculous considering how expensive everything is. The service has been horrible. read more

I called this store to see if they had a specific item in stock so I could pick it up in person rather than wait for an online order to be shipped. Their phone number led me to an automated message with no possible way of talking to anyone in person due to "high call volumes" and refers me to contact them through their website via "chat." After messaging the chat I received a response 10 minutes later just to hear they didn't have what I needed in stock after all. What could have easily taken less than a minute of my time instead took almost 15 minutes from start to finish. After this experience I realize they are not the company for me. I need to be able to speak to a real person when I contact a business and for this reason I chose Naturepedic for all my bedding needs instead. read more

Avocado mattress are on the higher end of the spectrum In comparison to some other brands like Saatva. The day I went into the show room, they were all out of head covers/ pillow cases. The representative who helped me, I don't recall her name, which I should with her attitude (she had shaved sides and a ponytail) looked at me like oh well. I wanted to know details about the latex vs more natural mattresses, what they were made of, the certifications, what to look out for, etc. Teresa not only helped me with that information- but provided even further insight on what to look out for no matter where I was purchasing the mattress from. My family had a really nice time in store mattress shopping. It was really easy to get help on a Saturday morning and the woman who worked with us was really sweet and answered a lot of questions for us. We tried several difference mattresses and pillow tops before deciding on the one they say everyone likes (of course). Our new mattress arrived to our home in LA yesterday/Thursday.. so fast we could hardly believe it. I haven't slept this well in years, it feels great for a side sleeper. My husband wanted to come to this location instead of the one in west LA because he wanted to get some food in the OC. I love my avocado mattress but this is a warning to would be buyers: California law requires that mattress retailers also remove old mattresses for proper disposal! This law was passed to prevent people from dumping their mattresses wherever they wanted. Don't let the Avocado people con you into paying for a white glove treatment where they remove it for a charge!!! I fought them on this after delivery and they came and took my mattress. I have a queen-size Avocado Green mattress purchased at the beginning of 2021. Before Avocado, I had purchased a mattress and within a month I was sleeping in a crater and couldn't get out or roll over. I sent that one back to try Avocado Green. Unfortunately, I started noticing a breakdown of my Avocado mattress about a year ago. The top of the mattress is soft, the middle is firm, and the bottom is soft. Now when I lay down I have to elevate my head to keep from feeling like I'm slanting backwards. A two-sided mattress can be flipped and rotated for more of an even wear. A one-sided mattress can only be rotated to the same spot. It's been about three years and I'm looking for a new mattress, preferably double-sided. Two stars are given because the mattress industry as a whole can do better. read more

The worst mattress and customer service ever. I have had the mattress for over a year. From the beginning, I experienced trouble. The manufacturer asked that I keep a year. I missed returning it by 2 months. It sags. I have a hard time sleeping on and I waked up with lower back pain that I can barely walk. I filled out the warranty and we've going back and forth. They want a video. The want the video with a long ruler to show where it sags and dips. I wished I would have gone to the BBB website to see all the complaints before buying. read more

Bought a mattress based on Consumer Reports. The mattress is OK. The customer service is the worst. If I had checked Yelp first (so many negatives about the customer service!) would not have made the purchase. Lesson learned. Looks like this company is more interested in ads targeting new customers than support after purchase. (Hint: when sales person says "pick-up of old mattress will be arranged after delivery" - don't count on it). This company does not have a customer service phone number. Only phone number connects to sales. Company directs all other communication to chat/email. On top of that, limited days/hours for those responses. Maybe owners of Avocado Mattress are building the company quickly, while bringing max profits to the bottom line, so they can live the dream for a big profit. Maybe that's why they can afford a lot of ads and sales reps but no customer service whatsoever. Mattress has a warranty; now wondering about that too, since they have no customer service. read more

TOO FIRM, we returned it. We loved the idea of the Avocado and their on line shopping experience. We told them what we wanted, a soft mattress. They suggested we get the softest one and the extra topper sewn in, we did because we are partial side sleepers. It was expensive and we felt great about it. We knew immediately that it was too firm. Customer service told us to give it some time, we gave it 60 days. They told us to make it softer we needed to buy ANOTHER topper, we did, although we thought that was a bit of a cheesy and expensive 'work around'. After 8 months, it was still too firm and we now had troughs where we slept in the toppers (bad sign). It was sad, we loved the quality, workmanship, and materials; we wanted to like the mattress but we couldn't. Just too firm. They did allow us to return it and gave us a refund. The guy who picked it up was a vendor that only picks up returns for Avocado and when I told him it was just too firm, he said, "yeah, I hear that from most I pick up, it seems to be a common complaint". Shauna and her coworkers gave me excellent customer service. During my first visit to their show room, I spent three hours there getting information on their products and Shauna patiently answered all my questions while I took notes. I came in for the second time with a list of questions after reviewing their warranties and product information, and I spent another three hours asking detailed questions before I made the decision to buy. After Shauna answered all my questions, I decided to buy the avocado split king with two adjustable bases and new mattress covers and sheets. She gave me discounts which I appreciated. She and her coworkers looked in the back storage area for sheets and mattress covers that other customers bought, but then change their mind so they were stored in the back storage area. They were able to find two mattress covers and I was given a great discount. She was very responsive when I wrote her emails with questions and she answered my emails in great detail and I did not have to wait long for a response to my emails. I was so pleased with her service that I referred her a friend of mine that I worked with and now my friend plans in the future to visit Shauna who indicated she will work with my friend and get her discounts as well. The only downside was the contract delivery company AGS, and I was not pleased with their service. I paid $599 for "white glove" delivery. I was told that they would be here between 11 AM and 3 PM and that I would get a 30 minute "pre call" to notify me that they were on the way. By 2:40 PM I was starting to get concerned since I never got a call and I wanted to know if my products would be delivered. I had to call the delivery company and the lady who answered the phone put me on hold to try and get in touch with the delivery driver. She told me she was not able to reach them and that she would call me back as soon as she contacted the driver. I told the lady that I did not want "a rush job" on my delivery and set up. She assured me it wouldn't be a "rush job." I asked her if they could dismantle my king size frame so I could take it to the Salvation Army donation site. She stated that they could take the frame apart, but they would not take it with them which I understood. At 3:10 PM. I got a call from Julio and I was told they would be here in 20 minutes. When they arrived, I told them that the lady at the office stated they could take my frame apart and they stated they couldn't do it. I asked them to just put the whole frame on my lawn which they did. I asked them how many more deliveries did they had and they told me they had three more. I told him I did not want "a rush job" just because they were running behind. They quickly unboxed my merchandise and put it together. Julio was using a small tool to tighten some bolts on my adjustable bases but he was working so quickly, I don't know if they were screwed in tight enough. The other worker, whose name I didn't get, was using a box cutter to unpack my mattresses and he was cutting so quickly that I was concerned he might cut my mattresses. Julio was nice enough to review how to use the remote controls but then his coworker told Julio "we gotta get going" and the coworker told me the instructions are in the manual. I told them that Shauna showed me 2 connector pieces that connect the 2 bed frames together and they said there are not any connectors to install. I felt so pressured that I didn't feel comfortable checking the merchandise thoroughly before signing the paper work stating the merchandise was delivered undamaged. After they left I had to get on my back to try to locate the USB ports under the bed and they left the plastic over the USB ports. For the money I paid I feel they could've showed me where the USB ports were located. I also found cardboard left in between parts of the adjustable base and I also found a screw on the floor which made me wonder was the base properly assembled? Julio's coworker gave me a small L shaped tool to tighten bolts under the bed but he never bothered to show me where the bolts were located. I don't blame Shauna for this poor delivery service since they are contracted by Avacado. I am a careful consumer, read reviews, compare products but I have to say I obviously did not do enough homework before falling for the hype about Avocado mattresses. We bought the "Eco-Organic" mattress thinking we were doing the right thing buying something that was chemical free blah blah blah...and after less than three years it has been a HUGE disappointment. My husband's side of the bed cratered to the point that it will never wear evenly. Neither of us can stand this bed. We have resorted to sleeping on a camping air mattress from REI-great company by the way-but apparently we do not have a chance in hell meeting their warranty standards which are conveniently written entirely in their favor according to multiple customer reviews that state how impossible it is to get a refund even well within the the trial period. This bed is supposed to have have a 25 year warranty, what a joke! We are out 2k and feel foolish for ever falling for this horrible company's slick marketing. Spare yourself the trouble and painful back/hip/shoulder aches: DO NOT BUY THIS PRODUCT!!!
