Personally, they're dunkers are delicious, they're sour cream is on point. Where I had an issue was their cream filled. The cake itself was delicious but the cream had a floral note which I had a hard time getting past. I truly hope it was a secret ingredient. First time at this business and had a bit of a hit and miss with my order of four donuts. The donuts themselves were good but one of the four donuts I ordered was effectively a half donut and looked like it had been broke in half. The person putting the donut in my bag had to have seen this and should never have done this or alternatively gave me a full donut to go along with the half donut. Wow is all I can say to describe this place. I didn't think Michigan had a great doughnut scene, but man was I wrong. This place rivals some of the best doughnut places in Portland and Chicago that I've had. Hands down the best doughnut spot in Michigan. Everything they make is fresh, knowing that you need to get here early. If you come after 11am, you probably won't get your pick of doughnuts. If you get in early, you must get a glaze doughnut because there's a chance you can get it warm. That itself is worth getting up early for because it's incredible. Outside of the glaze, you really can't go wrong with any of their doughnuts but my favorite has to be the Glazed Red Velvet and Double Chocolate. Tried the fruity pebbles one just to try it, it's cute and great for a picture but there are better tasting ones. The service is also incredible, while this place is popular, I've never had to wait more than a minute to order. You're pretty much in & out if you want to be - they also have a few tables in there if you want to hang out a have a cup of coffee, Can't wait to keep coming to this place!! What a treat. read more

I've been here a couple of times. It's a small gem on Woodward Ave across from M1 concourse. They have a great selection of donuts. It's a very popular spot so get in there, make your decision, pay, then get out of the way. I cannot believe I haven't reviewed Avon Donuts yet?! It's my favorite donut place ever! I love supporting small businesses, and while there is no drive thru, the wait time is shorter than the nearest Canadian shop near me that serves more than donuts. Majority of the time I have encountered nice employees, but sometimes they wear their emotions on their sleeves and you can tell they're tired or annoyed with being around people. I don't bring my kids inside much anymore since I never know if the staff will be able to pull out a smile for the little humans or not. Their work is exhausting, I'm sure, but that's the only reason I didn't give 5 stars. They work in that small space all day every day that they may forget it could be someone's first time or they only visit a handful of times each year. I had recommended it to a friend once and her first time going was not a great experience. Luckily, the donuts speak for themselves and are so delicious that they are worth going back for. Absolutely the best donuts I have had in Michigan. Their cake donuts blow all others out of the water! Whenever I visit Avon Donuts, I make sure to go first thing in the morning to make sure I have the best chance at getting my favorite donuts. I arrived at 7 am on Saturday, and there were 3 people ahead of me. When I was leaving, there were at least 6 people behind me with more people pulling into the parking lot. Avon was keeping up with the demand, and they were continuously switching out empty trays and replacing them while I was in line. I started off with a dozen and a half of their regular donuts. After those were boxed, I ended up ordering 2 of the fancy donuts as well. When you come first thing in the morning you have a great chance of getting these fancy donuts fresh out of the fryer and still warm, so it's worth it to get up early! I also ordered a 16oz. black coffee. For regular donuts, I highly recommend the red velvet donut, the cherry chip donut, the peanut butter chocolate donut, and the nutty buddy. For the fancy donuts, I always get the maple bacon donut, the bow-tie, and the mini cinnamon roll. Typically I prefer cake donuts, but these yeast donuts are amazing too. The inside of the space is small, with only 4-5 stools along the bar. When I was there everyone was taking their orders to go. A dozen donuts is $17.50 currently, and fancy donuts are an additional charge. For a dozen and a half donuts, 2 fancy donuts, and a large coffee I spent around $35 and it was worth every penny. There are so many great flavors we typically cut the donuts into quarters so we can try some of each. While these are best eaten fresh, the cake donuts hold up extremely well overnight. I've been wanting to try Avon donuts for a while now and have stopped by twice in the last week, both times they were closed due to the store being closed for a mini spring break. So, woke up early this morning and headed over there. I arrived a little after 8:00am and they were packed with a line. I believe they open at 6:00am and they still had plenty of donuts left but were low/out on some flavors already. The line moved pretty quickly though as there were two employees helping customers, I ordered a cinnamon roll donut, apple fritter, maple bacon, lemon drop and chocolate cream filled. I tried a little of every donut, and they are all equally amazing... The dough is soft and the fillings/flavor were great! Their prices are amazing as well, all of the donuts were $11. I see why Avon Donuts is so popular and will definitely be back to try other flavors! PS: I believe they close at 1pm, but they never stay open that late because they sell out, so get there early! read more

It's a small little shop off of Woodward in Pontiac. There's a small little café in the front part of the store. Small area to gather inside. Looks like they're pretty popular, as I saw a steady stream of people coming in before and after me. It's slim pickings after 10:45AM. They recommended coming at 8 AM when they set up all the donuts for the day. They only make every kind of donut once a day and that's it. The sour cream's were out early today. :/ I ended up getting the glazed buttermilk as a back up. They are low on many different kinds of the better and more popular donuts today, as expected with the late morning hour. My first bite was a buttermilk glazed, Red velvet glazed, blueberry glazed, custard, mini cinnamon and a mini apple fritter. The total came to $9.67. They look and smell pretty good. They do take Discover, MasterCard and Visa here. I will have to try them again if their donuts are decent. Everything wanted to try the sour cream doughnut, but that requires me having to be here much earlier. The buttermilk glazed was the first one I had tried, it was okay, not loving the flavor so much. The red velvet wasn't bad, a bit dry, the blueberry tasted the best out of all of the assorted dozen. The cinnamon roll was decent, would be better warmed up. The Apple fritter was quite dry and didn't have any hint of apple flavor to me. The custard flavor wasn't my jam, at all, rather left a chemical after taste from it actually. All in all it's not bad but not worth the 20+ minute drive each way. DG in Detroit is still my number one. read more

I've been searching for a new donut shop, but nothing in our area really caught my eye. I've had Avon Donuts bookmarked for a while but never had the chance to make a trip - until last weekend. I woke up super early and piled my kids into the car (we're early risers) and arrived at 6:30 and there was already a line! Two people in front of us, and we got to the front to see all the yeast and cake gloriousness and it was all SUPERB. The glazed were just coming out - warm and steaming. I grabbed half a dozen of those and my kids started devouring them before we left. They were melt-in-your-mouth goodness, and dare I say it - better than Krispy Kreme! I know - blasphemous; but I'm telling you the truth. You have to visit for yourself to become a believer - I promise you will agree! The rest of the flavors we picked were equally as amazing. Voodoo Donuts in Portland, OR are supposed to be the best in the country.
