Peach cobbler donut with coffee this morning!
    Jordan B.

Yellow light is my favorite! So to start, not a HUGE menu but that's what makes all of their items, EXTRA good. Less items on the menu, is more time to put love into the ones that are on the menu in my opinion! To start, they do some crazy flavors in donuts, that's got to by my favorite part about them. BUT, there's a secret, the location off of Jefferson has the BEST biscuits and gravy. Yes ladies & gents, you heart it right. The BEST biscuits and gravy. It's not too often anymore that you find homemade gravy and biscuits, it's usually canned gravy with frozen biscuits. This is not the case here. Try yellow light BISCUITS AND GRAVY. Thank me later. In addition to the best donuts and biscuits and gravy, they have the best frozen coffee coolers. I don't think there's going wrong with anything on their menu. We are frequent fliers here and love the establishment! Service is always extremely professional. The new location in Michigan Central Station comes with breathtaking & beautiful views of the train station. Check them out!

I have no complaints. Customer service was good. My coffee was great! I'm not even mad that they only have one syrup for the coffee because it's a good quality vanilla. Once I stirred everything up, my coffee was the perfect flavor. It had the sweetness that I needed but the coffee flavor wasn't lost at all. Very impressive. I got the egg and cheese sandwich. Very flavorful. I could definitely see myself returning here.

Great coffee option with a drive thru. I didn't get any food, but next time I will. Their breakfast looks great. Everyone working there was nice and the service was quick. I love their branding as well. The drive thru is so nice to have. We stopped here and then drove the Belle isle to walk around.

Yellow light donuts has become my guilty pleasure. I have never had such quality food and service at a drive through spot before. I always get the simple egg sandwich and a donut, sometimes a cold brew. The simple egg sandwich is the perfect breakfast sandwich. Their coffee is strong, and the biscuits are soft and buttery but not too heavy. Their donuts are so tasty - old fashioned style and maybe even better than Dutch girls.... Please check this place out, order an extra donut, and tip 22% the workers hustle hard and it shows! They start their mornings around 5am and their food is always high quality. So happy that this small business is near me. When I need a little morning treat I am never going anywhere else!

Just like a Hardee's (or was it Arby''s) wrapped sandwich. This is the only drive thru chicken sandwich I will eat. I like this packaging.

Absolutely my favorite mini chicken sandwich. The biscuit, the breading, the hot sauce, the price, is all me. If mini sliders are your thing. If you love fried chicken. If you like buttermilk biscuits you can't beat Yellow Light. If you get lucky the yellow light will be on for you. They are closed by 3 most days so do a double check. Also it's a black owned business. I like it. I like it a lot. Try it and tell me what you think.

Banana caramel donut, Raspberry w/ Sprinkles, Latte

This is my third time visiting and i just love the donuts so much!! I tried the banana caramel donut (daily flavor) and it was absolutely amazing... tastes just like banana laffy taffy Raspberry with sprinkles is my go-to. The iced latte was OK, actual coffee flavor is good, i just wish there was more sweetener in it. Service is always great- food comes out fast and you are greeted with smiles. I will keep coming back!

The chicken biscuit sandwiches are amazing!! I highly recommend the chicken maple one if you like sweet/savory combo. The hot chicken biscuit was also good, although I was hoping it had more spice. The biscuits were so flaky and buttery. The donuts were delicious. They are cake type fonuts. They have a nice crispy outside and soft inside. They have a good flavor selection. My favorite was the vanilla bean. This place is drive through only.

1/2 dozen ( 3 vanilla bean; 2 cinnamon; and one blueberry).

These are cake style donuts; fresh and tasty. Service is average but, the location (Michigan Central Station)makes that atmosphere an enjoyable experience. The only drawback to this location is the limited flavors of donuts.

If you're looking for high quality donuts made with love, you have found the right place! Yellow Light is drive through only and when I got there I was shocked that the line went into the main road -good sign! All of the flavors were delicious but my favorite was the brown butter plantain. And don't forget to order a coffee slushy! Check out my Instagram for more @hangry_detroiter

Drive thru donut and coffee join me and my family hit up right before ending our Detroit weekend getaway. Was leaving our hotel area and wanted a quick bite and noticed this place about 8 miles away and had a drive thru so we made the trip. We arrived around 9am on a Sunday Morning and the place seems very popular. The drive thru line stretched out into the middle of the street. They did a really good job of processing The line. It moved rather quickly. Menu wise they had about 12 different types of donuts, 3-4 sandwiches and not many drink options. Plain coffee and some small bottles apple juice and orange juice. With coffee in the name I was thinking they would have speciality drinks or mochas. But it just straight coffee and a coffee slushee. Out of the dozen donuts we ordered I tried a cinnamon sugar, blue berry and mint chocolate chip. Out of the 3 the blueberry was the best. Had good flavor. The mint chocolate had a very nice flavor as well. The donuts themselves were just ok. They are kinda hard and very cake filled. I prefer a fluffy donut personally. But these were still solid. My daughters were excited to try the "blue moon" donut which is Superman flavored evidently. My wife got the egg and cheese biscuit and she said it was solid. She said it had a rough after taste to it which kinda ruined it from being real good. Overall decent little place. Had some clever donut options but not many drink options. Pricing was a little high for my liking. $17 for a dozen and 50 cents extra for each speciality donut (the speciality donuts are not Marked so still not sure how you know what they consider specialty). Back home in Louisville we have some pretty famous bakeries and they only run about $13 a dozen. Outside or pricing it was a solid visit and an interesting place. If your in the area maybe check it out. Personally I wouldn't drive too far out of my way to make a special trip like we did.

I accidently found this place when I was looking for a bakery around Belle Isle. After seeing th photos and reviews, I had to try. I ordered all the varieties of donuts. Some were delicious, but some were not for me, but honestly, the donut was dense but moist. It was delicious. The service was quick and friendly. You can only order to-go. So let me tell you about their chicken sandwiches and biscuit and gravey. I was mind blown by how delicious they all were and the extra touch on them to make them different from the others. The biscuit and gravy doesn't look like your usually biscuit and gravy (b&g). It did have the weird aftertaste that many biscuits and gravy that I tasted. The biscuits that they use for the sandwiches and b&g just break apart, not sure if it was handmade but it was so good that I kept wanting more. I will be back for sure

Loved them all! The plain one has a really good vanilla flavor. The blue was was my least favorite.

I came across their Instagram page by searching the Detroit hashtag. Their donuts looked really good. I happened to be in town and decided to stop by. They are on the Far East side by Grosse Pointe, so quite a distance from my home. I got a half dozen to try out a few flavors. All of the donuts were delicious. There was one flavor, blue moon, that one didn't have flavor, it was just sweet. I also ordered their chicken & biscuit sandwich minus the honey. It was plain and tasteless. I wouldn't order that again. Definitely could have used some salt and pepper. I was happy to see they had other options for sandwiches besides the usually pork sausages and eggs. I don't eat pork or eggs. Overall, they are worth checking out. I want to go back and try other flavors and a different breakfast sandwich.

    Orange Cream donut and coffee

Visiting a friend who doesn't live that far from here gave me the perfect opportunity try out a new (to me) donut shop. Right off of Jefferson near the border of Detroit and Grosse Pointe Park, Yellow Light sits beckoning me like a ghost of Chicken Wars past to come and try them. As this was drive thru only, it's a pretty quick review. First: The Service Absolutely wonderful. The person who took my order was nice and to the point. Very clear and easy to understand. Second: The Coffee Normally I take my coffee one of two ways. If I am in diet mode it black as my soul with no added anything. If I'm feeling breezy and carefree I am taking it with some cream and sweetness. While I am diet mode technically, I was in sweatpants and that meant the world was carefree today, I took it a little creamy and a little sweet. It was great to see that they had stevia but I was truly impressed with the coffee any way. It was perfectly made. Third: The Donut You're probably wondering how the review is only three stars when the two parts that have been reviewed were got positive remarks. The donut disappointed me. Yes... Enough to drop it down from four possibly five stars to three. I ordered one of my favorite craft flavors in Orange Cream. Let me start by saying that the flavor of the icing was very good. Where I became frustrated was that this was not a late afternoon stop to grab something left in the bin. This was around 9 am and I would like to think that there is a fresh donut or two still available. Sadly this was not the case. The icing had dried out by then and cracked all over my clothes and seat of my car. It was a cake donut and it was very dry and while the flavor was still good it crumbled severely without the moisture to balance it out. I love donuts. Just love them. It's one of the reasons I'm built like a construction barrel. Next time I visit my buddy I will probably stop in here to give them another chance. But it really did knock down my otherwise fantastic experience with them.
