First time at this business and had a bit of a hit and miss with my order of four donuts. The donuts themselves were good but one of the four donuts I ordered was effectively a half donut and looked like it had been broke in half. The person putting the donut in my bag had to have seen this and should never have done this or alternatively gave me a full donut to go along with the half donut. I would have given this business four stars but I ended up taking half off, similar to my half off donut I got from this business.

I was reading Yelp's top 50 donut shops in the US. We were visiting Pontiac and there was Avon on the list. So, we had to try it! Super fast service, great selection and the donuts and small cinnamon roll were delicious! We sat in a stool, looked out the window and enjoyed our donuts.

Wow is all I can say to describe this place. I didn't think Michigan had a great doughnut scene, but man was I wrong. This place rivals some of the best doughnut places in Portland and Chicago that I've had. Hands down the best doughnut spot in Michigan. Everything they make is fresh, knowing that you need to get here early. If you come after 11am, you probably won't get your pick of doughnuts. If you get in early, you must get a glaze doughnut because there's a chance you can get it warm. That itself is worth getting up early for because it's incredible. Outside of the glaze, you really can't go wrong with any of their doughnuts but my favorite has to be the Glazed Red Velvet and Double Chocolate. Tried the fruity pebbles one just to try it, it's cute and great for a picture but there are better tasting ones. The service is also incredible, while this place is popular, I've never had to wait more than a minute to order. You're pretty much in & out if you want to be - they also have a few tables in there if you want to hang out a have a cup of coffee, Can't wait to keep coming to this place!! What a treat.

I've been here a couple of times. It's a small gem on Woodward Ave across from M1 concourse. They have a great selection of donuts. It's a very popular spot so get in there, make your decision, pay, then get out of the way. There are a few chairs to sit and eat your donuts and drink your coffee but I would recommend getting it to go. It's just too busy in there to really enjoy it. It's fast pace and loud environment. I can't wait to go back and try more items on the menu.

A Woodward tradition anytime me and the boys meet up on Saturday or Sunday. We meet at Avon donuts they always have a great selection of donuts they're always fresh and if you don't get there, they'll be sold out. So get up there early if you want first, Pickens.

We dropped in at 9 AM on Friday and only a couple of items were out. I was kind of worried that everything would be out given all the reviews of people lining up before the shop opens, but luckily almost everything was still in stock! We picked a half dozen donuts - some more yeasty, some more cakey. The yeasty ones are my favorite - nice sugar glaze crunch exterior combined with a soft and pillowing, yet somewhat chewy interior. And of these, the special seasonal strawberry was the best. But all donuts were delicious. You really can't go wrong with purchasing anything at Avon Donuts.

I cannot believe I haven't reviewed Avon Donuts yet?! It's my favorite donut place ever! I love supporting small businesses, and while there is no drive thru, the wait time is shorter than the nearest Canadian shop near me that serves more than donuts. Majority of the time I have encountered nice employees, but sometimes they wear their emotions on their sleeves and you can tell they're tired or annoyed with being around people. I don't bring my kids inside much anymore since I never know if the staff will be able to pull out a smile for the little humans or not. Their work is exhausting, I'm sure, but that's the only reason I didn't give 5 stars. They work in that small space all day every day that they may forget it could be someone's first time or they only visit a handful of times each year. I had recommended it to a friend once and her first time going was not a great experience. Luckily, the donuts speak for themselves and are so delicious that they are worth going back for. I love that they have a good variety of options! Pro Tip: since it's a small, family run business be sure to check out their Facebook page to see if they're open. They may close for various holidays or events.

This place is legit! I'm doing a donut run/exchange this week - each person brings a dozen donuts from a favorite and/or local shop to exchange with friends after our group run. Well, I know of some great donuts places in Detroit but none near me. If I punch in donuts on Yelp, the closest 12, excluding two cider mills closed at this time of user, are all Tim Hortons and Dunkin. There's just no fun in that. And I refuse to grab grocery store donuts either. So I found this 5 star place about 20 minutes away. My daughters came with me, and we got a half dozen to share for breakfast and then a dozen for my exchange. This place had a constant stream of customers, many regulars and some new to it like us. So many choices and super pretty, and tasty options. They close when they run out of donuts, or around 1pm daily. Make sure to go early. At 10am they already had some flavors that were sold out. All the ones we tried were delicious; the Reese's with chocolate donut, the red velvet, the apple fritter, a blueberry stuffed one and more. Yumminess. The coffee was a great start to the day too. You will see a line out the door on most days but service is always quick and easy! If you haven't visited yet and enjoy a good donut... I've been coming here for years and finally decided to drop a review. For the longest I knew they had good donuts, but it wasn't until lately that I realized they have the title of having some of the best donuts in the US! That's a pretty amazing feat being as they're about a billion places to get a quick donut. Now, I can't stop by here often because I know that I have no business eating sweets regularly, but these really do taste amazing. The parking lot isn't too big but it seems as though people are usually in and out rather fast. Whenever I've visited, the staff have always been extremely nice and always have huge grins on their faces. The prices are cheap as well! You can end up paying about $8 for 6 donuts. I could be upset that I have to get here extremely early (3am) to get dibs on what I want, I could be mad that I have to fight for the scraps that they have left when they close to closing (1pm)...but on my first trip because the stars aligned and I was within reach while they were open...I get it: Avon Donuts is a magical place with a donut for everyone! old-school or simple: plain cake or buttermilk Feeling cute: sprinkles! Wanna get wowed: grab a maple bacon or cherry chip with cream cheese. They have about 30 donuts to choose from BUT, be ready to sacrifice for the some of the more popular donuts as they are gone early in the morning. Is it worth racing to this place at 3am? Definitely worth the drive going there to try for the first time their famous, soft, sweet and delicious doughnuts. Even if it costs me $2 a piece for the regular doughnuts, it's worth losing my diet ;-) and budget. The location is a few meters from a hospital, along Woodward Avenue, pontiac. The road is under construction. We almost did not make it there without feeling lost. It's a Sunday, so the area where its at looks like a ghost town. Anyways, the bakery interior and exterior looks old school but amazing doughnuts are made and sold inside. We were so excited to see what is left of the doughnuts. They start selling at 4 am, with customers come and go. We were lucky to have a dozen flavors to choose from. For $8, my husband and I had 6 flavors. My favorites are apple fritters, plain and chocolate glazed. Checked in with Yelp, we got a cup of free hot coffee. The guy (who I believe is also the owner) was very friendly. Paid using credit card. Amazing doughnuts! We will definitely be back to try different flavors. Go there early! read more

I can't add much to all the well deserved accolades this gem has already received from other lucky reviewers. This is one of the top 5 donuts in the world. I have been wanting to try this place for sometime but given my morning schedule combined with my limiting myself on sweets, I have not been until today. I am a big fan of apple fritters and have not found one as good as the ones I get in Philly at Bieler's a famous Amish donut place there. I was out and about and not far from Avon so stopped in this morning. I was asked if I wanted a small or large and since I rarely am a "bad boy" said what the heck, make it a large. I just finished it with my afternoon coffee (barely as the fritter was massive) and, I have to say. It was the best apple fritter ever. It's rare for me to give anything 5 stars but at least based on the quality of the apple fritter, 5 stars it is! read more

I came 15 minutes before closing and, to no fault of the owner, there were only a few selections left. The owner was very friendly and I left with the chocolate glazed cake and vanilla glazed buttermilk donuts! Vanilla glazed buttermilk - 5/5 Not too sweet, perfectly moist. Delicious! Would come back just for this. Chocolate glazed cake - 4/5 Solid. Not the rich chocolate flavor I was expecting. Definitely a drier texture compared to the buttermilk one. The coffee was delicious, strong, and fresh. We had sugar cookies and baklava. Wonderful. The bakery cases were massive and large selection. The staff greeted us from the kitchen and walked towards the counter to help us. The seating is limited, but we were able to relax in the cozy sitting area with fireplace. Lots of light; bright, and vibrant colors. They offer ice cream too. Overall, excellent.

I Love only two things in Life, Beautiful women and delicious DONUTS!. I'm from the south side of Livonia district. "Lucky Me" My wife just had a life threatening cankles surgery (yes, I kidd you not). She was on bed rest for 3 days, which gave me time to explore this certain part of Pontiac. Just down the street from the hospital, I found Avon Donuts. The Building isn't hard to miss, painted puke brown colour with large OPEN signs in the windows. But never judge a books by it cover, because this place is ranked top 5 Donut shop on my list. I got a dozen mixes, all the donuts were fresh & delicious, decently proportion. My favorite is the "Long johns" with cinnamon rolls coming in at a close 2nd, while Coffee is decent. Manager and employees is nice and friendly. I visited my wife all 3 days, while she was the hospital. She thought I was "Best Husband Ever!", REALLY, I was there for the donuts. Hope she never see this. read more

My, I and my friend went here and it was horrible!! their service there is not how I expected it to be. first of all, the donuts were cold, who likes cold donuts!!?? second of all, the donuts had way too much frosting, and the ones with cream inside had one drop of frosting in them which is absolutely gross. I and my friend decided that we are never going there again because we are pretty sure she got food poisoning there and I don't want my friend to be sick because they have such bad service!! This is a family owned Donut Shop. Koi & Ling run the business. They are very friendly. They make the best quality donuts in the whole area. They have fresh coffee all the time.
