It's been a minute since I actually visited the tap room. I was pleasantly surprised to my satisfaction! The taproom is really cool looking & relaxing. The gentleman working was prompt and helpful. I had an Oktoberfest, which was delicious. I also sampled the Amber Wild. I throughly enjoyed them both. The taproom menu was extensive in beer variety. I was impressed. Can't wait to get back here. Many updates have been made to their outdoor concert spaces. I'll be back real soon!

Very neat place! Every time I come, they keep adding on and making it more upscale. Great family friendly place, great beer selection and lots of outdoor activities!

Came here at almost 10 PM on a Thursday night as we were passing through Birmingham and the vibe was so energetic, it seemed a bunch of people who used to work at the brewery were in there hanging out and the whole bar seemed to know each other. They had a host doing karaoke, and everybody was really getting into it. We tried the hazy IPA and the THC drink, both were delicious. The THC drink was light with a fruity taste, but not too overpowering and not too sweet. You could definitely taste the THC although it was only 3 mg so it was pretty light. The bartender was very friendly, we asked him for a sticker, and he looked in a few places before pulling one out from behind the bar and giving it to us.

We attended the JJ Grey concert this month (4/24). The staff was incredibly friendly, the drinks were cold and the overall space and feeling was on point! Absolutely no issues with service, drinks, etc. The only thing odd was they closed the bar an hour or so before the concert for "A Listers". No big deal, there are bars across the street but I felt it was odd. I understand they may have paid for the event or were friends or family of the bands but it would seem there is another space in the building for their event vice kicking everyone out.

I'm not a beer girly but I love me some Avondale Brewery. They keep a fun event lineup and the space is great for gathering. These pics are from a recent Janelle Monae concert where she totally rocked the house. I got the pit tickets up close by the stage and had a fab time. I also got a margarita from the bar, so don't worry my fellow non beer drinkers, we're good here too. I've been to food truck parties, concerts and more in this space with no complaints. The inside is nice as well, lots of tvs and good vibes from the staff.

I'm on the junior board for The Literacy Council of Central Alabama and we had a fundraising event last night at this brewery. Avondale Brewing had a great venue for our event. Their security did a great job helping us facilitate getting the guests into the outside area where the entertainment we arranged was performing. The bartenders made great drinks. Everyone had a great time. Check out Avondale Brewing for your next event or if you need somewhere cool to hang out.

Pet friendly, drinks only no food, good beer selection, prime location, parking very accessible, two main indoor areas and a huge outdoor beer garden with a stage & screen. Sometimes they have food trucks.

I really enjoyed the environment especially the outside lawn. The service was also good and I definitely recommend this brewery to go in Birmingham.

They are not closed! Finally stopped in here for an after ride brew. I tried the Brunch Punch Shandy and Ms. Fancy's Tripel. I settled on the Brunch Punch Shandy. I also tried the draft cocktail: Yellowhammer. We enjoyed an after ride snack from the Avondale Burger Co. food truck. We enjoyed the vibe, the food and the brews.

Oh Avondale.... Part of my heart is here. I have always loved the spacious lawn, the dogs, the friends!! But when Taylor helped us have a make-shift reception here last year I was sold forever. Our wedding memories will forever be tied to this, dare I say, magical place. But that's only the first layer!! I was the jr. Board president for the autism society for years and they allowed us to have our large event, The Funky Fish Fry here every year. It is such a blessing to get this amazing venue and all for charity! Speaking of events, it wouldn't be Avondale without the concerts! Need to breath tonight, so excited! The drinks: I am not a beer connoisseur so the atmosphere used to be my selling point. Until, they got margs and yellow hammers!! I am looking forward to enjoying several of each tonight. The Food: Avondale burger Co. Is where it's at! I'm not going to get too wrapped up here because they're deserving of their own review but OMGSH GO TRY IT!! I could go on and on but who has time to read such a long review? Love you Avondale.

I haven't been to a concert here since last year and this was a great experience! Everything is set up to run very smoothly and help keep lines to a minimum which anyone can appreciate.

Flight o'clock! Decent selection on beer. Great set up with an outdoor stage for live music and plenty of land to relax enjoying some beer. My bartender Michael was awesome!

A classic Birmingham brewery with great drinks (Brunch Punch Shandy and Sour Pash and vital classics!) and ambience. Don't sleep on this part of town. I was glad they had the food truck in the back outdoor area. The nachos were sweet and salty, and a great portion size to split with a friend. They do keep it cool so I would recommend bringing a jacket. Overall, this is a great brewery on this side of town. While they don't have an in house kitchen, there are multiple eateries within walking distance. I have yet to come here for an outdoor concert but hopefully that will change in the upcoming months!

Ask the Community - Avondale Brewing

I have tickets for JJ Grey in July X5. Is there any seating? Are lawn chairs permitted? Three senior citizens with knee problems but attend many JJ concerts. Thanks for any info!

There is seating, but it is off to the side (picnic tables closer to the bar area). Yes, you can bring lawn chairs, or blankets too. I'd recommend doing that, and probably getting there a little early since it can fill up quickly!

What if someone doesn't drink beer, could you bring something in?

Negative. You can bring outside food in but no outside liquor. Sometimes they have the bar setup but that is mostly on special events.

Any bands tonight or anything going on?

    Is it handicap/ wheelchair accessible?

It can be hard to decide where you want to sit after coming in as you go through the laid back patio (although the trains are sometimes loud) or inside where you're greeted with neon lights and retro futuristic vibes. Just like the beer, there is no bad option. There are many beers to choose from, which are frequently rotating but no worries, some of the fan favorites like Dr. Robot are constantly on tap. There are beers made specifically for the Birmingham location as well. If beer isn't your thing there are Margaritas and cocktails. There's also plenty of food. The tacos aren't going to win over my Abuela's heart but they are serviceable. I typically go with the nachos though. I always hear how good the Patty Melt but every time I go to order one they are out of hamburger patties. There is almost always something going on, or some type of happy hour/deal. People often host their own little parties and events at the picnic tables here. I came on a Sunday afternoon, and it seemed like a lot of families came for lunch and to hang out after church. The food here is certainly impressive food for a bar to me. I love the wood fired pizzas. I will say, I think the size is a bit awkward. They're a little too big to be a single serving, and a little too small to be for two people. The beer is all good. Service at the bar always friendly. The fries here are some of my favorite in town. They've got a huge selection of beers and a full dinner menu, so there's something for just about everyone. Whether you're coming for drinks or planning to eat, you won't feel limited. Parking is plentiful, which is always a win in Birmingham, and there's plenty of seating both indoors and outdoors. It works well for small groups or larger parties. One thing to know going in: this isn't really a full-service setup. You order and pick up your own food, and aside from someone occasionally clearing empty pint glasses, there's not much table service. We actually didn't receive utensils with our food and had to go back up to the counter to grab some. Not a huge deal, just something to be aware of. I ordered the catfish sandwich with fries. The sandwich itself was delicious -- crispy, flavorful, and satisfying. My only small gripe was that it came in a to-go box. I understand it probably makes cleanup easier for them, but it does take away a bit from the dine-in experience. The fries were shoestring style, which just aren't my personal favorite. They're fine, but I always feel like I need about three handfuls to feel satisfied. We went on a Saturday night and the brewery was packed -- and I mean packed. It was very loud and definitely more of a party atmosphere than a relaxing dinner vibe. If you're looking for a quiet night out, this probably isn't it. But if you want energy, beer, sports on TV, and a fun crowd, this place delivers. Overall, it's a great hangout spot to catch a game, grab a drink, and enjoy good food -- just expect a lively, high-energy scene.

But we'd spent the day at McWane Center and we were starving so we were there to EAT! The food looked gorgeous but it tasted very meh. The onion rings had too much breading on them, which I didn't think was possible, but here we are. The part of the breading next to the onion was mushy so that threw off the texture of the whole thing too. The burger was very much like a Whataburger. Even the lettuce smelled the same. I got The Standard and the bun of the burger was a little mushy (similar to Whataburger) and there was not much meat. For an $11 burger, I'm expecting more than a Whataburger. My middle kid likes everything on her burger and isn't picky at all and the loaded kid burger looked impressive but it was about the same as mine. Not awful, but not very good either. Very close to the same amount of meat. She's the queen of the Clean Plate Club and she only ate half.
