Menu was extensive but it only had about 8 in house cocktails? The rest of the menu was food, beer etc kinda expected more options from a distillery. Ambiance was a little off, the outside of the building is nice, but inside when you get down to it was a little rough around the corners, it's my own preference, but having a bunch of big screens with sports on while serving chicken wings kinda kills the distillery vibe and makes the place seem more like a sports bar. My husband and I came here for dinner during the week. We started out with the catfish egg rolls. They came out piping hot. These were very crispy. Catfish was very good. The roll had a little too much greens for my taste. For dinner I got the steak quesadillas. There were four pieces. The quesadilla steak was good and there was a flavorful jalapeño sauce in there. The quesadillas had a little kick. I really enjoyed it. Service was good albeit a little slow especially considering we were the only ones in there. Food took a bit to come out but I knew it was fresh. Very cool place inside. You can tour the distillery. They make all their own alcohol right there. I loved visiting Dread River! The whole place is a vibe. They have multiple seating areas to chill with small to very large groups. You can book events and parties as well. The evening we went was pretty empty due to the weather but the staff constantly checked on our group. Each time I've came, I discover a new area and they are always comfortable and clean. The decor is so fab and they have maintained it at top notch. Dread River is the most amazing classy distillery I have ever visited. The drinks are always top notch, the food ( wait yes you can get quality food at a distillery) and the atmosphere is wow. The tour is fairly short but it is a craft distillery but the tasting is enjoyable. I booked the event site unseen. I was very pleased with the scale, quality, and decor of the venue. The interior is comfortable and upscale chic with multiple velvet sofas and chairs. There are several private meeting/dining areas available. The food and service was excellent. Their selection of craft cocktails using their onsite distilled spirits were an epicurean treat. Upon arrival, they strongly encouraged grabbing a cocktail to take on the tour, but I would have preferred to wait until after the tour to enjoy a drink and maybe some food. Carrying it around felt a bit awkward, especially since there's a tasting at the end that helps you decide which drink you might like best. I had an absolutely amazing time touring the brewery. The tour guide was so knowledgeable and even took time to answer any questions we had. The ambience was lovely. There were plenty of seats around the bar and several lounge areas for groups. The appetizers were delicious. We also had the opportunity to taste 3 different liquors. Honey and I found this place while we were traveling for Christmas. So glad we did! We prebooked for a tour and we were so glad we did! After the tour, we bought some spirits and enjoyed some dinner. My boyfriend and I stopped here on a Saturday at around 2pm and for a while, we were the only ones. It was pretty fantastic because we got to know the staff well. They told us of local places to hit up, and we talked football. They made us feel at home and it was such fun. I had a couple drinks at the bar and my boyfriend ordered the tasting flight. The pours were great and the distillery offerings were pretty tasty. I had a purple rain and lavender old fashioned. I loved both, but the lavender old fashioned was the standout. Our charming tour guide, Billy, explained everything in detail including an interesting "peak behind the curtain" of the inner-workings of a brand new distillery. After the tour there was a tasting with six different spirits. We ended up buying the decently- priced vodka. For dinner, we decided to stay there and eat. It was so busy but we got a bar seat when the bartender was nice enough to remove a "reserved" sign at the bar. The distillery is interesting in that they brew a few of their own beers as well. Our family took the distillery tour and enjoyed dinner on Saturday, March 30, 2024. From the moment we opened the door we felt like we had come home to Momma's house. We were met at the door and thanked for coming. Prior to our tour we had the Amber Alert and the Light Lager. M.J. Was very helpful in assisting with our first taste of Dread River offerings. Billy picked us up for our tour and provided an exceptional opening to the distillery operation before handing us off to Grayson. Grayson discovered my son is a mead brewer and they hit it off immediately. Grayson went into great detail about the brewing operation and distilling of spirits. We concluded the tour with Billy providing a beautiful tasting experience of the spirits line offered by Dread River complete with flavor notes and profiles to look for in each spirit. We decided to sit at the bar for dinner with M.J. serving and bartending for us. Her immense knowledge of the bar was fantastic as we asked many questions and received recommendations of various dinks to try. For dinner we had Steak Frites and Poutine and the Reuben Egg Rolls. Highly recommend all of them. The flavors mixed perfectly with every drink pairing provided by M.J. In closing, I could not recommend a place more than this five star I have placed here. M.J. We showed up too early for a tour and started on the menu and drinks up front. The food was wonderful and cooked to perfection. The drinks were quite tasty and all had an intriguing flair to them. Ludicrous Alabama laws mean everything associated with the drinks was made in house--bitters, mixers, etc. That took it to another level for certain. Tour was great!
