I have been a loyal patient of Avra Dental since it opened and have referred many family members over the years, but my experience has drastically changed since the departure of Dr. Jabaiti. The lack of communication regarding his exit was alarming; not only were we unaware of his departure, but the office also transitioned his patients to Dr. Malinoff without any prior notice. Reluctantly, my family and I chose to stay, hoping the quality of care would remain at the high standard set by Dr. Jabaiti. Unfortunately, that was not the case. The front office staff has become increasingly rude and unprofessional. They lack transparency and have consistently failed to inform patients about significant changes. On multiple occasions, I have found myself on the phone only to have staff members hang up on me without explanation. Moreover, since Dr. Malinoff took over, I have faced numerous issues with insurance billing. Under Dr. Jabaiti's care, I never experienced any insurance denials, but now, treatments are being denied left and right. After contacting my insurance, I learned that Avra Dental was not submitting the necessary documentation for approval. Despite my persistence, the front office insisted that everything was submitted correctly. It took months of back-and-forth before they finally sent the right information, resulting in an eventual approval. The rudeness of the staff has made each interaction a struggle. We tolerated this behavior because Dr. Jabaiti was an exceptional dentist, but now it feels like the office is in complete disarray. To make matters worse, I was recently informed that they are no longer in contract with my insurance, and with appointments looming for myself and family members, this left us scrambling to find a new dentist. There was no prior notice about this change, forcing us to rush and find alternatives. When I called my insurance to clarify, they explained that Avra Dental chose to stop accepting my insurance, despite the fact that they were still in-network. After persistent emails, I finally received my dental records to facilitate the transition to a new provider. However, for a family member's treatment, they had to go through multiple temporaries, and the assistants did not do a proper job. One temporary fell off in just one day! In summary, Avra Dental has become a source of stress rather than care. Save yourself the hassle and seek a dental office that values communication and patient care. read more

Sadly, this kind and communicative practice has been sold to a rude and condescending dentist who doesn't show his face to new patients, says everything possible is wrong and slaps you with a 15,000 invoice of proposed dental care. I shouldn't have been so mad. i wish I would have laughed. Run, don't walk. I didn't look at the reviews before booking but I'm glad I didn't cause they would have scared me away! I had a great visit here, X-rays were uncomfortable but I've never been to a dentist with comfortable X-rays! It's only 5-10 minutes of it so you will be just fine! It has to be done! The dentist himself was very nice and friendly! He told me I didn't have any cavities and needed to wear a nightguard due to teeth chipping and a pothole in a tooth! They did a camera in my mouth to custom make the nightguard! Overall I really like my experience, they cleaned and polished my teeth and my teeth felt super clean after! read more

The quality of the dental work was not good. - They fixed my temporary crown wrong and it caused overall discomfort in my mouth, I had to go back to get it fixed and it still was not fixed so I had to stay with it for a two weeks until my permanent crown would be ready. - on the day the permanent crown was supposed to be fixed, it did not fit and they had to do it all over again and I have to go back again in two weeks. - They were very eager to collect payment as soon as I walked in the door even before the service was provided. - The doctor was not even apologetic or helpful explain why the crown was not firing. He just casually let me know he will have to get it re molded and fixed in two weeks. A lot of my time wasted. Over all my experience was not good and I will be finding another dentist. read more

I had a bad experience with a prior dentist that kept cancelling my appointments and found Avra Dental via my insurance in-network list. They were by far the best rated dentist out of all the providers on the list so I went with them. These guys got me in within 2 days of calling, I didn't wait long in the lobby, nor in the chair, they took x-rays, AND they did a cleaning for me, all in the same day! Dr. Jabaiti is the bomb! I feel like I need to warn people about this dental office for multiple reasons. 1. My X-rays were PAINFUL - the tech that did them must have not had much experience because I was literally tearing up because the x-ray plates were digging so far into my mouth. Honestly, I don't know why I didn't walk out sooner. 2. The dentist said that I had three cavities in the grooves of my teeth. This seemed very odd, since I have rarely have a cavity, so I drove all the way to Orange County to go to my previous dentist for a second opinion. They confirmed that they were just STAINS in my teeth, not cavities. Thank god I didn't have them drill into the grooves of my teeth for NO REASON. I honestly should have insisted that they didn't bill my insurance for the cringeworthy experience, but I was so traumatized that I just wanted to get out of there. read more

Takes wayyy too long. I waited a whole two hrs before they did anything and there were only a few other people being seen(I heard someone else complain bc they had been waiting for an hour as well). When the doctor went to numb my mouth he poked me in the lip with the needle and I don't think I will be going back. By far the worst experience I have ever had at a dental office. I had a cracked teeth and called them on Thursday They had no appointments or didn't give me a price range for a crown, they said they need to charge me $80 for that if self pay or I have to provide my insurance a day prior to the appointment or they can't see me!! I didn't use my insurance for eeeeeeeveeeer and I have a card just with a group number no actual. I asked them if i can being the card on the day of the appointment they said No, pay out of pocket!!story short such a rude office staff I don't wanna deal with them! Referred me to someone who could help me with my TMJ and my crossbite. I also made 3 referrals and they have a referral program for each person referred by name you receive $50 off a procedure. I was a bit skeptical about visiting a dentist during the pandemic, but as things were starting to get better I figured that I should go. Avra Dental is super big and very clean. They were able to book an appt for me over on a Saturday which was definitely very nice since it's hard to get a cleaning on a weekday due to work. My overall appointment took a long time. I was seated a few minutes after arriving, but I didnt get my cleaning til about 40-50 minutes later since they were busy. Cleaning was about 20-30 minutes. I also thought I would get a goodie bag with a toothbrush, toothpaste, and floss on my way out but I was a bit sad that I didn't get one since all of the other dentists that I've been to always gave it out. Overall, I would come back since they are open on Saturdays and if I really needed a cleaning. You will also need to have your phone with you to pass time while your waiting to be worked on. read more

AVRA DENTAL/ 1708 S. Victoria Ave B, Ventura California In March 2023, I had a broken tooth, lower right back area. After my x-rays, Dr Jabaiti explained I would need a crown. After preparing my tooth for a temporary cap, he then informed me that the tooth next to my broken tooth was so decayed. Onto say, I would need a second crown. I had not experienced any pain from my decayed tooth. Dr explained he was unable to see my decayed tooth on my earlier x-ray. During my several visits for my crowns, there were 3 dentists working on my mouth. Running back and forth in and out. One is doing 1 thing and the other back into complete, etc. I have never received this type of teamwork from any dental office. From so many hands in my mouth, I'm extremely upset with my results!!! For over a year now, when flossing between the two crowns, the flossing string gets caught on a snag. I have to floss slow. Worried, I'm going to pop the crowns off. The floss just hangs between the crown until I gently retrieve it all. Lastly, I was asked to take a second x-ray after the work was complete. A different Denist said, "Oh, Dr Jabaiti, who was out sick this day, made note to inform me of another major decay." This was on my upper right, back area. This week, I went to my 1 dental appt with a new Denist. I have not 1 cavity in my mouth!! Lie after lie, and they continued to call asking me to schedule for decay tooth and cleaning! read more

I will NEVER leave Dr Jabaiti I am following him through his amazing journey as a dentist ever since he was at Oxnard Dentistry now with his new office Avra Dentistry (SO CONVENIENT AND CLOSE TO MY HOME) I am very SATISFIED by the courteous BACK staff. When I walked in the front office the girl by the name of Mary made a face at me and I felt that was not the proper way to greet a patient as first impression more since you are the first person a patient sees for the benefit of your business to roll well. I then was assisted by another young lady who showed the opposite side of this other staff employee. (This is why they got a 4 out of 5). I suggest you bring it up to her attention to always be courteous ,smile and not look like you have a fart stuck up your butt. Went here for the first time a couple weeks ago. They tried to tell me that I needed a crown on my front tooth but recommended that I get crowns on both of my front teeth and a night guard because I supposedly grind my teeth. They tried ripping me off for a grand total of ALMOST $2,000!!! Mind you this was after what my dental insurance covered a portion. I ended up paying out of pocket for a second opinion with my old dentist (who unfortunately doesn't take my new insurance) and he said that they were definitely ripping me off because I didn't need crowns; just a filling for a small stain that could potentially turn into a cavity. I HIGHLY encourage you to get a second opinion!!!!! I recommend Dr. Matt Wallace because he's amazing. read more

Terrible experience just by calling. This review does not reflect care quality as I did not receive any care. However, based on the rudeness and lack of empathy of the receptionist, I quickly changed providers without stepping foot into the clinic. Customer service is the first point of contact and can determine a relationship, which is what drove me to make this review. Their website states they do emergency appointments, when I called to try to get in asap due to what I believe is a crown infection, I was told that because I'm a new patient they won't give me an emergency appointment. Ok, understandable. I called in tears because of the pain, so I asked if maybe I should go to urgent care, her response was in the tone of "are you dumb" - she said urgent care doesn't work on mouths- again, it was the tone. No "Sorry we couldn't help you, or I hope you feel better " nothing showing sympathy to clearly someone experiencing a dental crisis. I called a different dental clinic that gladly took me in and helped me. This is my experience based on the phone call (again, I didn't see a dentist). read more

Kind and gentle dentist and hygienists. They would frequently check in to make sure I was doing okay and were responsive and patient when I had questions. I just had a good feeling being here - it's really nice when you're at the dentist to not feel like your mouth is being invaded, or to not feel shamed for whatever issues are going on in your mouth. Usually I put off making the 6 mo cleaning appt, but this time I'm happy to do it. Hoping that this will be a place I stay with for a while. Also, a quick note that I appreciate their attentiveness to covid-related procedures - they reminded me to put on my mask when I started to leave my room to walk to the exit as I had forgotten. I really wanted to like this place because of the rating and location but it wasn't what I was hoping for. The staff was incredibly friendly but the dentist I met with wasn't what I expected. He was very blunt and when I tried to ask questions he just kept repeating what he had told me initially which is what I wasn't understanding. A little background, I like going to dentist and had been going every 6 months but my regular dentist was out in LA and I wanted someone local. The new dentist told me I needed extensive work which is probably the case but the way that he explained it to me felt like a total cash grab. I'm not perfect at taking care of my teeth but the way he told me what I needed made me uneasy and wanting a second opinion. Front office are super unprofessional, and incompetent. Very lazy front office staff. One of their hygienists also very rough w my sons gums during his prophy. (Dental cleaning) I asked the staff to email my X-rays SEVERAL counts within the same hour which takes LESS that 10 seconds to send to another DDS. They were NEVER sent which mean I was forced to re-take MORE X-rays at my specialists office when I had JUST taken FMX full mouth X-rays here at Avra dental just the day before. Which meant MORE radiation exposure. Front office do not know what they're doing and very unprofessional. I mean as dental staff you're dealing w peoples finances and lives here. Lazy and rude staff. The dentists are nice however everytime i have an appointment for myself or my children we have waited two hours or even longer to be seen. Also my son was having pretty severe pain in his tooth especially when eating or drinking and they say they provide emergency services but wouldn't take my son after 4 oclock and refused to help him. They don't close till 7 pm according to their website and it was 5 oclock when I brought him in and the front desk was very rude. On top of that my son had a prior visit where they put a sealant on his tooth they said to prevent a cavity that looked like it was starting to form. We moved to a different part of town and ended up going to a new dentist. X-rays showed my son ended up having a cavity in his back tooth but unfortunately they couldn't do the filling because Avra dental billed our insurance for the filling in that tooth when all they did was put a sealant on it and my insurance only covered one filling a year. read more

I am so happy we found Avra Dental. I haven't found a dentist I've liked since my childhood dentist retired 15 years ago, but Dr. Jabaiti is wonderful. He is thorough and quick and does high quality work. Everyone who works there is friendly and they seem genuinely happy to be there. Normally I would go to a different dental office but since this crazy year dealing with COVID a lot of office closed down, I'm so thankful that Dr. Jabaiti's office was open to treat me and get me out of pain. I'm so lucky that I found an office that is not over crowed and he dr and staff care about my safety and of course theirs to. They took my temperature asked me a few COVID questions. The office it self was super clean and made me feel comfortable. The root canal and crown didn't take him to long to do and now I feel normal again no pain, no swollen face!!!
