After experiencing a very horrible experience at a different dentist office I was traumatized to be seen by any other dentists. I came to this office read the reviews before coming even pushed my appointments I had out because of my last experience and I couldn't make it due to work. When I came here Dr. Qattan and her assistant Kim helped me get through my stay and be more calm by explaining what the procedure was going to be like. They were very nice and kind got me through my whole procedure from the beginning to the end. They literally got me from having major anxiety to calming down and relaxing with no pain at all even after my work was done. I have been a patient of Dr. Abajian, ever since he graduated from Dental School. My spouse, is also Dr. Abajian's patient. How come he still looks 21, as I have since, turned 70. His gentle touch and full explanation of any work he feels is necessary, for a healthy and comfortable mouth, is what makes me feel extremely, "Well taken care of" At 70 years old, I have all of my teeth, "NO DENTURES" (Maybe a few caps and crowns, Superbly and artistically done by Dr. Abajian) I will never, go to any other Dentist. If you are reading this, while looking for the perfect Dentist . . . Go no further! You can't go wrong, with DR. Abajian. Called to inquire on a new patient appointment and was questioned on insurance before anything, I advised Mona of my insurance and was told next available is end of August, a little absurd to be given an appointment 3 months out. Not the type of dentist I would like to go to if insurance is their priority or at least to state it to a potential patient. read more

After reading all the great reviews here, I was looking forward to meeting Dr. Abajian - however he must have a lot of B.S. friends who lie because I did NOT have anywhere near the type of experience they wrote about. First, I had to wait 3 weeks for the appointment! We just moved to the area and I was looking for a good dentist for my insurance plan. When I called to make the appointment I was told the dentist spent time with a new patient, getting to know them and after an examine would offer some options. That was so NOT the case. The assistant took the photos, the dentist comes in and after about 2 minutes tells me that I need 7 teeth extracted - at least 2 root canals with crowns, at a minimum of $2,000 and and I'd have to be referred to a specialist cause they don't do those types of procedures! After I had the money consultation with the staff person... 3 pages that added up to over $2,000! I know I needed work on the back teeth - but he wasn't interested in offering any alternative options or any type of payment plan it was all "up front cash or credit" neither of which was an option. Have no idea how much the specialist would charge, I'm sure this dentist gets a nice kick-back for the referral. Horrible experience. read more

It first started when I had an appointment in March and when I called to reschedule I was j formed that priority was being given to those who had an appointment and that I would be contacted to reschedule. 3 weeks past and I had not been contacted as informed so I followed up to reschedule my appointment on my own. When I spoke to the receptionist she was very short and was in a hurry to help me almost bothered by my call but I managed to work with her and my appointment was rescheduled after I was told cleanings were taking place in Monday's only. That information would have been helpful from the beginning so I knew to look at Monday's only for my appointment. Fast forward: I was very disappointed today when I showed up to my appointment this dental office is charging each patient an additional $15 per visit for PPE. Although I understand why, you would think the dentists associated with this office would instruct their receptionists to inform all patients of this prior to their appointment. Some people are out here struggling in serious economic hardships and need to be prepared for this prior to showing up to their appointment. Not all insurance cover this cost and being the receptionist have this information can be proactive to inform people so they can be more prepared. Needless to say I won't be returning to this dental office. After my last visit and how ruff the hygienist was and when I had a small cavity repaired she struggled to numb my tooth effectively. The assistant left the hygienist during my appointment and when she returned she did not change her gloves. I thought I would try again however after today I will not be returning to this location. I went to Esthetic Smiles around 7 yrs ago to have my teeth cleaned. The scammers charged me $654. I had DeltaCare Insurance thru Medicare - and I thought it would be covered. Absolutely Not. Let me start by saying going to the dentist is my absolute worst thing to do. I had a horrible experience as a child so even now I get anxious anytime I have to go. But this office staff is AMAZING. I've been with this dentist for the past 10 years. I refer everyone I know here. Have never been dissappointed. They value my time. My wife and I went to Dr. Abajians office today. We both had appointments. I had X-rays done and a cleaning. Gina was very attentive. Did a great job. My wife had a tooth bonded and was done very nicely. I have been there before but insurance made us leave, I am so happy with their professionalism and not making you do treatments that are not necessary. I am a cancer patient and was not able to go to the dentist for 18 month. NO cavities. Yeah! Just a deep cleaning and scaling. Love the office girls. The are super nice and so professional. If I could give a negative star I would. This dentist office "Esthetic Smiles" practice some shady/scam like stuff. I went in for a cleaning and x-rays. All the staff were nice. They told me I had a bad cavity and they were PERSISTENT in getting it done right there and then. I didn't have time that day so I rescheduled for a month later in which I didn't end up going for other reasons. 6 months later I go for a cleaning and x-rays at a previous dentist I had gone too. They told me I had zero cavities and I had normal 6 month plaque build-up. Esthetic Smiles just wants your insurance money even when you don't really need work done. The same thing was done to my father and mother. I will be reporting them to the BBB. I recommend father and son team Dr. Derek and Dr. LeRoy Carson in Oxnard. They are nice, do a great job, and have ethics unlike esthetic smiles. read more

Let me retract my review by stating, that in my last visit I was told I had 4 cavities, a cracked tooth - that was positively going to cause my tooth to shatter- specifically from grinding teeth. I thought that was odd, because in my previous dental visit months before, I had zero problems. So I was shocked to hear it would cost me over a thousand dollars for repairs and a night guard. I simply didn't have the money and no payment plan was offered. I waited a bit and decided I must handle this situation. I decided to see a new dentist. After x-Rays, and computerized examination, the dentist gave me a clean bill. I asked him about cavities. He said, none. And joked-"you want me to find some?". Ok, well what about the cracked tooth? "You have beautiful textbook teeth and gums"- which he showed me in the x Rays. This office was really trying to get me to spend over a grand to fix my perfectly fine teeth! And then to spend more, and have my very young daughter endure fillings she probably didn't need as well!!!! read more

Sad to say, I've been going to Dr. Abajian for over 15 years. I never had any major problems, but It was his job to find them. After all these years, he never told me that my bridge was failing and I was grinding my teeth. All he cared about was collecting my insurance premiums. My initial visit was with dr.abajian. And I haven't seen him since. They schedule me with another doctor and I ask specifically to see dr abajian and front office staff tells me sorry he only does major services? I wish they would have been upfront with me instead of surprising me with a new doctor. The new doctor recommended another procedure that dr abajiann didn't. So I asked for a second opinion with dr abajiann and I had to work hard tk get an appointment with. After waiting an hour for his service he didn't even bother to look at my tooth. He just read all the notes and said yes you need that procedure. Worst experience with this office read more

They used to be known as "Family Dental". The name may have changed but they are still friedly as heck. I've never had a problem with dentists per-se but these folks are painless. I've had 4 root canals and 3 crowns (along with several fillings) done here and aside from the inital shot it's all been painless. Dr John Abeijan (the owner) and his staff are great! After reading these posts,I believe our family has been scammed/overcharged as well. He is a MetLife and Aetna Dental DMO provider but is always taking new patients...why? Probably because his office doesnt have repeat patients AFTER getting scammed. We supposedly had this estimate of services which were completely confusing and not clearly reconciled to insurance coverage. If this happens to you and you pay more than initially expected and agreed upon, report to insurance, Better Business Bureau, and dental licensing authorities. read more
