Ok, this place rocks. Fo shizzle shiz. Here's the deal:
I bought this as a groupon and worked to convince people in my circle of trust to go with me. You too may have this problem if you want to go axe throwing...but fear not, you CAN find people to go with you.
I got the deal for 5 peeps...so I needed 4 more. I recruited one of my kids, because the thought of throwing axes make her all kinds of cracra happy (that's my girl). More on that later. Next up, my 9 year old's 3rd grade teacher. Oh yes my sweet little baby angel cakes of America child, through your acts of wild and crazy this past school year, your teacher and I have bonded and now we are throwing axes, so it would be wise to keep your sh$% together...forever. And... and, one should never EVER pass up the opportunity to show a child that their teacher and/or mom can slice a gnat's a#% in half at 20 feet, with an axe none the less! Teacher (who shall remain anonymous for now) brought her husband...I believe to prove the same point (??) Hahaha!
Ok, so that's 4 people, and like Meatloaf said, 2 out of 3 ain't bad. So you take 2/3 and divide it by pi and multiply it by 7.1 and get 4/5. Trust me. So 4 of us...and one 9 year old headed in.
The place is decorated perfectly for axe throwing...some nice pics on the walls and such for serene calm nature thoughts. There are 5 throwing lanes and some seating areas for the rest of the team. There are NOT any tables with watermelons though, so if you went in thinking what I had been thinking...well, you need to recage those thoughts. That would have been cool though. There is a whole area with a massive jenga and huge connect 4 game, plus cornhole and some other fun stuff to do if you're not throwing.
The guy running the place is super chill. Like hey guys, here's how to throw an axe. Here's how not to cut your ear off. Just do like I show you and you'll do awesome. He was a great instructor and when he was done teaching our motley crew set to the task at hand.
Soooo now girl, words of caution time:
If your older child is extremely competitive, perhaps leave her at home. Axe throwing may summon the Viking warrior lurking deep within her sarcastic soul. She may try to sneak in extra turns when no one is looking. She may try to hide the axe. Or she may develop red glowing eyes upon a missed throw, and set the axe down on the ground while silently cursing the tree and the forge from whence forth it came.
Meanwhile, over at the chillax table, you should be wary of having your 9 year old keep score. She may already be plotting her revenge for not being old enough to throw (16 year old age limit). While she keeps an eye on her teacher's throwing skills, she may do some shaving of her own on that points board!
And that husband...he too kept an eye on things, and made a mental note that Santa was NOT going to get his wife axes for XMAS no matter how much she wants a set now.
After an hour and a half we were ready for another hour and a half. Well, some of us were. Husband was ready to blow the joint...and buy a metal reinforced cup. The 9 year old had played games with our hearts on the score board so badly we didn't know what planet we were on anymore. Older daughter kept throwing the axes...we had to drag her away and out the door to calm the Viking demons. And me...well, I left with a great sense of accomplishment and happiness in my heart.
So in conclusion, YES, do this!!!! It is freaking awesome! Take your 1st date on it...see if he/she has what it takes to protect you in case zombies attack! I would also recommend this for the elderly. Not sure why, but old people throwing axes just has the makings for a great video.
That is all. read more
