Awesome first experience axe throwing. I got this via Groupon as Christmas gift for my boyfriend, well more for both so we could have a fun experience together. Thanks to our instructor Xander who was so great we were able to learn the techniques and throw with passion and protection. My guy was awesome, this looked so natural for him. I was scared at the beginning but the coach was super reassuring and checking on us all the time. The location is at an unassuming area around Miramar and coexisting with Escape rooms. I like the medieval theme and decor. We had an awesome time!

We had such an amazing time at Axe Throw San Diego. The atmosphere and aesthetic are absolutely incredible, the space has such a fun, welcoming vibe. The staff were all super friendly and helpful, and a special shoutout to Xander, who was an awesome mentor! He made the whole experience even more enjoyable with his great attitude, clear instructions, and fun energy. This was by far a much more pleasant and engaging axe throwing experience compared to the last place I visited. I left feeling confident, happy, and already excited to come back. I'd definitely recommend Axe Throw San Diego to anyone looking for a great time, can't wait to go again!

This is the best axe throwing location I've been to. Xander was our instructor and gave the most helpful instructions I've received at one of these places. After our warm up, I had only landed one tomahawk. He came back and showed me what I was doing wrong, and I hardly missed after that. My wife and I had such a a good time and so glad we chose this for some birthday fun. 100% recommend. Thank you, Xander!

We came here for a date night and we were not disappointed for our first time. We had a great time the staff was welcoming and ax throwing is pretty fun! This was a very relaxed vibe attended to quite frequently. We will definitely be back here in the future!

We were here for our team bonding activity. there were few parking spots but not a whole lot. this place is on the second floor, so make sure you are able to walk up the steps. This place is a combination of axe throwing and escape rooms. You could do both in one place if you really wanted. There was a guy that explained everything with safety and how you should throw them etc... he seemed like he really likes working here. They also have a lighter axe, if you don't have any muscles like me.. there are scoreboards and different ways to play the games. It was a lot of fun. They also have Game of Throne vibe happening with some giant dragon hanging from the ceiling and they had a throne. I'm not sure why but it was a fun photo-op. We had a great time and will be coming back!

Brought my boys here on a rainy day during winter break, and the when there was a rare blizzard in Big Bear. Primal fun for sure!! There's also a giant connect four and king size jenga that you can tack on to the night. If that's not enough there's an escape room too! We'll be coming back for sure, and not just on a rainy day. This place would be great for parties as well with all the shiek decor.

So much fun! Got our own lanes.

We had a wonderful time at Axe Throw SD. They were super accommodating with our business group and the Axe coach was so helpful in setting up and making sure our group had a great time. It was awesome to be able to bring in our own outside food and beverages. We had the private room called the Great Hall, which was huge and had lots of space to spread-out. Thank you again!

Super fun. Xander was a great instructor. I felt nervous at first but it was actually way easier and laid back than I could have guessed. Left feeling confident in simple axe throwing.

First time I've gone here and first time axe throwing. Took my dad for his birthday. Xander helped us out and he was amazing. He showed us some basic tips, checked in on us, and showed us more tips as we practiced. He was very knowledgeable and made the experience more fun. I will return to this place just because Xander is there.

We found Performance Archery and their 1-hour intro lesson for $40 per person. Pretty fair deal. Me, my wife, and both our boys all tried compound bows. It was a tiring but fun afternoon. The next day, me and my wife definitely felt some muscles we do not use often. LOL. Our instructor, Todd, was very helpful and encouraging. He explained what we, as complete newbies, needed to know without making it confusing. Safety, stance, how to hold the bow, how to aim, and how to release. Just enough to get us started and actually enjoy it. He also gave a lot of praise to my youngest son, who showed some real potential. It was his first time ever shooting a bow, and he hit yellow at 10 yards. Beginner's luck? Maybe once. But he kept hitting yellow again and again. Because of that, I asked my youngest, who is 15, if he wanted to continue with archery and see where it goes. He said yes, so we ended up getting him a package that should last him a few years: an Elite Archery Basin RTS, a release, arrows, and a bag. He was super happy. The staff was also very helpful in setting up the bow for him. They adjusted the draw length, draw weight, and peep sight, and made sure it fit him properly. The only sad part is that this place is far from home. I checked Yelp reviews for places closer to us, and honestly, they do not look as encouraging. Overall, this was a really good afternoon. For $40 per person, the intro lesson was worth it. Fun, educational, beginner-friendly, and maybe even the start of a new hobby for my son.

If they tune my bow and I come back bc it's out of tune they charge me again!!! Recently my Mathews Title needed new limbs on a warranty claim bc of a weak limb. Very important!!!! The shop I'm loyal to, Bow N Arrow shop because they always does fantastic work on my bow. They NEVER overcharge me either!!! If I get a set of strings installed there they will NEVER charge me for tuneups on the life of that string set!!!!!! I brought my bow to my technician. My bow tech gave me a video and showed me why I 100% had a weak limb. The cam lean in My bottom cam was so bad it was rubbing the inside of the left side of my yoke on my new string set! Everyone at the shop was in agreement that this was warranty claim due to a weak limb issue. Since Bow n Arrow is not authorized Mathews dealers, I took my bow to Performance Archery for them to start the warranty claim. They asked if they could touch my bow (no mention of a charge and I'm in there for a warranty claim!) but I agree. They take my bow to the back and all four technicians there agree it is not a Cam lean issue or a weak limb issue and that it is ai ply a top hat issue. They proceeded to flip my top hats, so that there was only 1 mm of clearance from the Yoke cable from the Cam and did not fix the Cam lean at all. Matter of fact the problem was 100% still apparent and they let me leave and made me pay!!!! They looked me straight in my face and told me that Mathews is amazing with doing warranty claims! That all it takes is making the request and that it's easy, and then they did not do the warranty claim for me and gave me excuses and did not fix the problem. And charged me! The next day I took my bow back to my Bow technician at Bow N Arrow Shop showed them what they did and what they charged me for! They said it was completely I appropriate and they told me that the same problem was still an issue and that whatever they did didn't fix anything!! They also tone me I still can't shoot my bow. So then I was told by my Bow technician to call Bret at Willow Creek Archery.. Bret is Is amazing! I told him what I was going on, what I had been through and he immediately agreed that it was a week limb issue over the phone!!!!!! I sent him the video of my Bow on the bow draw board at the Bow N Arrow Shop showing the problem and diagnosing the weak limb issue and stating it was a warranty claim 100%. Unlike Performance Archery, He immediately got a hold of Mathews sent them my information and immediately was approved for a brand new set of limbs! Imagine that!!! The point is, Performance Archery does shawty rushed work on bows that they tune. They misdiagnosed and negate responsibility for obvious warranty claims. I could've derailed my cables and needed another new $200 string set. That's how bad it was. They charged me for a full set up fee and my bow is completely out of tune and I was still left with the same problem. Insult to injury! Bottom line: Go to Bow N Arrow Shop! 100%! The majority of the time if they don't need to charge you, they won't, and if they need to, their bench rates are better than Performance Archery and they do better work. Also, Bret at Willow Creek Archery Is amazing! And Bruce from Bow N Arrow Shop is fantastic and all of their Bow Techs there are phenomenal. Avoid Performance Archery at all costs!!!

It was fairly busy but we were still able to get a lane! - PARKING - Large parking lot, not an issue getting a spot here. - SERVICE/ENVIRONMENT - You check in at the front and let the staff know how many hours you'd like to book. It's $50/hr on the weekends and $35 on the weekdays. $6 for shoe rentals! The lanes themselves are pretty small - there were only 3 seats plus the center seat, so if you weren't taking up two lanes with your group, you had to share the area. Bowling balls are everywhere so you might have to look for the correct weight that works for you. - EXPERIENCE - The system seems a little older, and sometimes was hard to figure out. The lanes were also a bit slow to reload the pins at times. Because of some of these delays, we were just shy of finishing our second game, so our friend asked if we could just get an extra 10 minutes and luckily he was nice enough and added time. We also ordered a pitcher of beer and it seemed like a decent price. - OVERALL - A fun casual activity to spend time with friends or for a date night out!

The bowling alley is large with 44 lanes however it was quite busy on the weekend and full. They only take reservations if you reserve a minimum of 2 lanes for at least 1.5 hours. Otherwise it's first come first serve. Note certain days they have very limited lanes due to leagues playing so you may want to call in advance about availability. In addition to bowling, they have a small arcade section, bar area, and food service. Prices are $35/hr per lane Monday to Thursday and $50/hr per lane Friday to Sunday and holidays. $6 per shoe rental. A bit pricey for a family outing but I guess if you split costs with friends it's more reasonable. Note there is limited seating around the lanes, only 3 seats per lane. It can be tricky to find the right ball size as well when busy. Ample parking in the lot and street. Overall a nice activity to consider when going out but for the price probably not on a regular basis.

A couple months ago, three friends and I did them back to back, starting with Black and White Cafe. It was a great way to spend a rainy Saturday afternoon, and I definitely recommend starting with Black and White Cafe if you do that. It's a lot easier and a good warmup for Moriarty's Manor. Black and White Cafe is aesthetic, cozy, and clever. Moriarty's Manor, on the other hand, is the hardest escape room I've done so far. Our group of four made it out with just seven seconds to spare!! (We had two beginners who had each done 2-3 rooms and two intermediates who had each done 10-12 prior to that day.) The combo of puzzles was SO good, with lots of variety and opportunities for different skill sets to shine. I like that MindFox gives unlimited hints but that everyone in the group has to agree to receive a hint. I thought the gamemasters were super personable and helpful. It's difficult to review escape rooms because you don't want to give things away -- so just take my word for it and check this place out! (Just don't start with Moriarty's Manor if your group is all beginners; practice on some other rooms first.) They told us they're opening up a third room later this year, so my friends and I will definitely be back for that!

Anyway, my friends and I arrived for our reservation. The person who greeted us was friendly. We had to fill out a waiver and then pay before entering. He gave us a quick talk about the concessions, most of which were not available that eventing. He also gave us a bit of direction as to how to throw the ax. He also told us about the house rules. We settled in for a moment. We had all come directly from work, so were a bit hungry and thirsty. We had planned to get dinner nearby after, but wanted a little something at the moment. Unfortunately, we were told they had no pizza that night, so a pretzel was the only option. Also, they had just a few beer options and three mediocre wine options. My friends each had a beer, and I chose a Sauvignon Blanc. The drinks were fine.... nothing special, but we were there for the axes. Surprisingly, the pretzel was pretty good.. Despite the fact that we had been given a 2-minute tutorial about throwing the axes, most of the games they had made no sense to us. We gained a bit of guidance from the group next to us. I also made an effort to ask our staff person some questions. However, I still feel like we had really not clue how the games worked. We were only given one ax for our group of three. It was just one style. I have been axe- throwing before, and they had lots of different possibilities. I remember that I had fun trying the different styles. In my past experience, they also gave us more education about the games we could play together so we didn't feel so lost. They were also more available for consult. I think Axe-Thro is a fine place to go if you want to throw some axes. It is not the best for bar food and dinks, or if you want a little information on the games you are playing.
