We had such a fun time at AxeZone! The guys at the front desk were super friendly and welcoming. They explained all the rules quickly, got us set up in no time, and made the whole experience easy and enjoyable from the start. The venue has a ton of interactive axe throwing challenges to try with your group, so there was never a dull moment. We ended up having a blast and already want to go back. We were definitely a little jealous of the group of girls who booked the rage room and were smashing TVs while we watched. That is officially on our list for next time. Definitely a "mom & pop" vibe, but not in a good way. It felt like they purchased some cheap plywood and put it on the wall. The axes barley staid stuck in and bounced back a lot. The axes were also low-grade and not heavy-duty, which is typically what a more professional place uses. I have been axe-throwing before, and it came with an instructor who went over safety, showed you how to throw, and made sure everyone was comfortable before starting. The guy working legit showed us how to use the mouse and keyboard to play the digital games projected on the wood, so we could throw. He also threw one axe and said good luck. It was very odd, and the two guys working sat on another couch and played their own music. Our group made the best of it, but we could have set this up in our backyard; it was not impressive. I wish I could give this place -10 stars. To start off, when you walk inside it looks like a creepy place in the movies where a person goes to get held captive. Weird vibes all around and it was boiling HOT! There were some workers playing with the axes and they had a huge fan blowing on them, but apparently the AC was broken and wasn't going to get fixed until next week - guy at the front desk didn't give a crap either or notify us before we arrived. We were taken to a room and told "if you want to" there is a protective mask (that looked like it's never been clean) and some gloves (that were sticky) and a jump suit (smelled) that we could use for protection. We didn't sign waivers and weren't told anything else just "here's your room". Basically just go at it. Two sledge hammers and two metal bar things to use. Booked the "Rookie Mode" package online and was so disappointed! Inserting a pic from their website to show we should gotten 15 small items, 3 medium items and 1 large item. Instead we got 2 big tvs, one super small tv & two keyboards. When we asked where the rest of the stuff was we were told they didn't have anything else but instead gave us an extra large item. Again, the guy at the front desk didn't care. Oh and don't even bother looking at their website because nothing they put there applies once u get inside. It also said to bring a playlist so u could play your music or you'll hear Limp Bizkit on repeat...umm there is only one loud overhead speaker and when in the room u could hardly hear it. Terrible experience! Booked the rage room for 2 online for Saturday 8/3. Rookie mode you're supposed to get 15 small items, 3 medium items and 1 large item (see photo from their website.) Upon arrival, the place looks nothing like their website. It's super dark inside, weird lounge vibes. Once you check in, they bring you to a room and just say here's some headgear, gloves and orange suit if you want to wear it. No waivers to sign or anything. We ended up only getting 2 large items, 1 small tv and 2 keyboards nowhere near close to what their website says. Their website also says you can bring your own playlist and connect to their speakers - wrong. When we asked about this the guy just pointed to their speakers overhead and said there's already music. You can't hear this music in that room so guess what? You get to rage in silence. We tried to enjoy it but it just was not it. Within minutes we're sweating and uncomfortable because On this particular day it was ridiculously hot inside and the guy up front just said "our AC is undergoing maintenance " the owner or manager could've warned people that had booked or simply not allowed any bookings at all considering the hot temperatures. We left before the 30 minutes was up because it was uncomfortable, hot and who wants to break stuff without music?! Not worth $70 per person! My wife and I came here on a weekend for an hour of axe throwing. I had previously done it in the loop in Chicago. While the staff member was friendly and courteous, he spent at most 5 min showing us how to throw the axe and then play the various projected-based games. Much like some other reviews: 1. The axes weren't in the best of shape. Tape was peeling off the handles. The edges were quite dull. 2. It was very dark in the entire establishment. 3. The projector screen light intensity was so faint, it was hard to see and read things. 4. We had to interface with a keyboard and touchpad to track the games, scores, etc. 5. The wooden board we had appeared to be quite worn out and chipped away. 6. It was really, really warm in the building (July). The staff member was kind enough to offer us a cold beverage at no cost since we'd previously requested if he could crank up the a/c. Being newbies, when at most 5% of our axes were staying stuck in the board 30 min into it, we asked the staff member to help show us what we may be doing wrong. He patiently told us what to do, but we found it amusing that on his first 2 tries, he also had his axes bounce right off the target and fall to the ground [see #1 and #5 above]. This was only my second time doing axe throwing, but I remember the place in the loop spent a lot of time on safety, proper throwing technique, and also had their venue well illuminated. Another couple next to us on this day also appeared to struggle to have their axe stay lodged in the wooden target board. Either my wife and I, and this other couple, just were 100% newbies . . . or, the quality of the axes and wooden target boards needed some fixing. This axe-throwing place was nice because it has "video" games to play over the target, so you're not just thowing axes at the same ole circle for your whole time. It was digital and you could change the display so you had options to throw axes at zombie heads or your traditional numbered target display. Lots of fun for a date night or family outing. We had a terrible experience here. We paid for two rooms for a total of 5 people. The guy put us all in one room and only gave us four items for us to smash. We were supposed to have 11-12 items total to smash. He told us the beer bottles were part of the "medium items." He had to call the owner to ask for more items and then he put a few more in our room. The protective gear we were given to wear was disgusting. The suit was smelly, dusty and had holes in it. Super fun evening tonight and was excited to review! Place has been around for 1.5 weeks. Went here for a girls night on a Saturday. Actually bought our tickets on Groupon and then booked a reservation on their website (required). We were greeted by a very friendly staff member who checked us in smoothly. We signed their waiver by scanning a QR code on a wall which made the check in and waiver signing quick and seamless. He brought us to our lane and walked through some safety rules and best throwing technique. The vibe is definitely cool, there were a few lanes with older adults but the music playing definitely catered to a younger crowd but that didn't stop anyone from having a good time! There are couches in the middle which create a lounge feel which allow you to grab a seat, chat, and drink. Boards are taken care of and there is whiteboard on each lane that allow you to keep score if you wish. Place is BYOB and BYOF (food) which is cool. We booked 90 minute slot, but think 60 minutes might have been a better fit. I would recommend to others looking for a fun evening with friends, a place to catch up and drink, and enjoy throwing axes! read more

The axes are in horrible shape, the projectors project a very blurry image and the place is just very run down. Paid over $60 for two people and left early. The group next to us ordered beers and returned all of them because they were warm. We didn't sign any waivers and most of the employees were MIA and outside. Rage room review - I felt like this was a total waste of money. The room was already trashed when we came in and were told "the cleaning company hasn't come in a while". We paid for the upgraded package so over $200 for 2 people for 30 mins - a few flat screen TVs and some beer bottles - that's it. We asked for more beer bottles and were told no. Flat screen TVs aren't actually that fun to smash - they're really thin, not many parts. We were done in about 15 mins. The protective jumpsuit was ripped and gross. Very disappointed. False advertising on the website for Naperville location. First, no one signed any waivers, not even asked to. Paid extra for the "Warrior" rage room ($90 for 2 people) there were a couple TV's and all the rest were beer bottles on the floor. Even questioned the "warrior" mode and they said it had "extra" beer bottles. Didn't look anything like the rage rooms on the website. Specifically said on the website to make your own playlist otherwise you listen to the same song over and over. Made our own playlist and was told the speakers were not hooked up in the room. Raged in silence was not too exciting. Website states specific for "Birthday" nothing was mentioned nor anything special for Birthday group. Axe throwing of 6 people, none of the axes would stick in the wood. The wood was too damaged and over used, need to be replaced. Even walked up to wood and hit the wood with the axe and it wouldn't stick in the wood. Very disappointed. Paid close to $500 for 6 people, definitely not worth it!! read more

Visited Tuesday, 8/4/20. Disappointing experience. My daughter and I chose a 4pm appt because that is when they opened. So I assumed it would be very clean. Yes we all had to wear masks however, all the axes should have been sterilized and it should be mandated that everyone wear gloves. The axes where filthy with no hint of a alcohol or clorox scent. The bathrooms looked like they have not been cleaned in days. They were so dirty and low to no napkins for drying hands and low toilet paper. Not to mention the gentleman that checked us in took a couple minutes to show us how to throw each ax but never once checked our form when we began or during. I have gone to other axe throwing venues and that is the service I am use to receiving. The place was not even busy. There was another grp of 3 there and thats it. He just sat on his. The only good thing I have to say about this place is the variety of games they offer was cool, the rest not so much. First off it took forever for their system to accept our payment because it was having issues reading the swipe and chip, we were about to walk out until it finally went through. Staff didn't even show us how to hold or handle the axes, simply showed us how to control the screen and which lines to throw which axe from. Half the axes were dull and the other half were chewed up looking, very jagged. The handles were all duct taped besides the plastic ones. I get grip tape maybe but the duct tape was real tattered. Not sure if they didn't wet the boards enough either because most of our throws didn't stick even when standing up close and trying to stick the axe right into the wood it just bounced off (could've just been from how dull the axes were too.) We're not pros but we've been throwing a few times and never had that many that didn't stick. Very disappointed and was not worth the $30/person. read more

Staff was very friendly and did a good job explaining the process for us which the majority have not done axe throwing before. Took off one star as some axes weren't as sharp and the space was a little cramped. Overall, we had a blast with some friendly competition; the girls vs the guys. The staff was friendly & helpful, but the overall business model needs improvement. We had a reservation, arrived 15 minutes early, but was told that we'd have to wait another 40 minutes. Apparently, when a group is late to their reservation, all reservations after that will be pushed back/delayed. The waiver... whether you sign the online waiver or not, the staff would never know because it was never checked. And from a business standpoint, I'd definitely double-check that...it's tight in there, crowded, and people are drinking alcohol while throwing sharp axes. It's bring your own food & beverage with the option to have food delivered from a local burger joint via Grubhub. It took 30 minutes to receive the food and unfortunately, it was cold. If you're going to allow food to be brought in, it would be helpful to actually have enough tables & seating for guests. We stood in the front waiting area eating our burgers. Very awkward & uncomfortable. We also learned that Axe Zone was denied a liquor license. When I had inquired if BYOB was allowed, I was told by an employee NO LIQUOR is allowed, but because they were short staffed that evening, they weren't enforcing the no liquor policy. And that was quite evident as people were rolling in with coolers filled with alcohol. So, I guess I am still confused whether or not you are truly allowed to bring your own liquor. read more
