Food and service was decent. It's unfair to judge a commercial establishment when there's a lot of authentic Mexican restaurants in San Antonio.

Rodrigo seated our family (there were 6 of us, 4 adults and two kiddos) quickly with a minimum of fuss, he was quite accommodating and efficient throughout our time there. We ordered drinks, mimosas, Bloody Mary's and coffee as well. By the time Rodrigo brought us our drinks we were ready to order. The menu had lots to choose from (Tex-Mex) and we all ordered and enjoyed what we had. I know mine was quite good, chorizo omelette, tortillas, beans and breakfast potatoes . Hubs had two large breakfast tacos and they disappeared quickly, lol! We definitely will head back and try other options. Thank you for your excellent service, Rodrigo!

After reading many of the reviews and seeing the low Yelp score of 3.2 in April 2025 I didn't have many expectations when my Dad suggested we eat here because he really enjoys it. The place is inviting when you walk in. They were surprising busy, but had no wait, after 2p on a Sunday. Table service was SLOW as mentioned in numerous reviews and clearly the reason for not only my reduced star but the overall Yelp score. Management must have staffing challenges and the owner doesn't seem to care much because there are zero responses to reviews on both Yelp and Google (where their score is much better at 4.1/5 on over 1.6k reviews). Our server missed filling my drink for a long period during the chips and salsa portion of the meal. He did better by bringing a 2nd glass and refilling both through the rest of the meal. Zero plates were cleared, so they must wait for the bus person to clear these after departure. The server also got frustrated and a bit snippy when I asked for him to clarify my options for shell choice on fajitas. Instead of saying "is flour okay" maybe say the couple options. Food was good all around. A lot of reviews complain food lacked flavor so just add some of the provided salsa or ask them to provide sour cream or guac. It's actually good they don't over spice or "hot" the food because not everyone likes this. My fajitas were good. Dark chicken (why no option for white?) was tasty with onions and peppers done perfectly. It makes no sense why veggie is the same price as chicken AND beef is $6 more than chicken unless someone on staff is raising chickens. I would order the fajitas again. Only other complaint was not enough shells for all the food and zero attempt by the server to ask, as we didn't see him towards the end until I was almost completely done with the meal. Also no ask on whether we wanted a few more chips that were finished before the meals arrived (we didn't but still nice to ask if you're wanting higher scores and satisfied customers). The bowl of chips and salsa amount is very small for a table of three. My family also enjoyed the taco salad with shredded beef and steak & eggs (my Dad's favorite, for lunch) At first glance the building looks like a fast food restaurant, but inside they have a bar area with booths and a dining area with tables and booths. Plus outside there is a covered section with about five tables.

My husband and I visited on Saturday for the first time. The location is convenient. It wasn't too busy and we got a table straight away. Unfortunately, the hostess sat us in the room with the families with kids. It was noisy. (Next time we'll ask for a different area.) My husband ordered a breakfast plate and I got the taco salad. We both enjoyed our meals. Although, I was surprised that the taco salad didn't have rice or beans. There were refried beans at the bottom of the taco bowl to "glue" the bowl to the plate, but not part of the bowl. The waitress was kind and attentive with plenty of coffee refills. The ladies bathroom was dirty and gross, that's why I knocked off a star. They have a drive through and I'll keep that in mind for future pick up orders.

Chile relleno w side of Mexican rice.

Our server Hailey was right on. Always, offering more drink, chips, salsa. I ordered the beef chile relleno. Excellent!! The side of rice was fluffy, but lacking in flavor needed more cumin, chicken broth. Refried beans great consistency, but lacking in flavor. Bought a box of their cajeta empanadas, very yummy!!

I avoid dine in because the service or the food is bad and my most recent experience proves me right. Ordered a virgin drink and it looked nothing like the alcoholic version and I was charged the same price. My youngest child wanted something from the kids menu and didn't get what he ordered. His taco toppings were supposed to be on the side and it was to have beans and rice. He got a taco with a big spoon size of shredded chicken just dumped into a tortilla. Had to wait for 20 minutes after our server had made multiple trips to our table in order just to place and order. Then our food was served, but no silverware to use to eat with. I waited 10 minutes before I asked for a fork. This is a perfect example why I only do drive thru and buy only tacos. Crap service ruins the experience every time.

Came in for margaritas and chips and salsa. The host / greeter was an older gentleman and did a FANTASTIC job!! Lots of personality and enthusiasm - very contagious! He likes his job and it shows! Margaritas (the wawarita) was great - good mix of tartness without being overbearing. We found it odd that they close at 3:00pm on a Sunday afternoon though. Open for dinner every other day.

Traveling through the area and stopped for one night and decided some Mexican food sounded good. We were greeted promptly and chose to sit in the bar area. We ordered the pomegranate margarita. It was okay, but I'm a margarita snob. We ordered a small queso to share. It was very small 4 oz. So if you have more than two people, I'd get a bigger one. We both then ordered the Wawa Enchiladas. Great choice. Very flavorful. My only complaint is my charro beans were still a bit al dente, not quite done. When we were looking at the menu online an offer for free sopapillas popped up so I entered my email. So they were free and delicious. Total bill was $61 before tip. Place was busy but not too crazy. Clean. Give them a try.

The wife and I wanted some brunch on this Saturday morning so we took off to find some pancakes. First, we thought about IHOP so we went over to Singing Hills and the parking lot was full. We didn't want to wait that long so we said let's give Ay Chiwawa a try. It was a very pleasant experience. We walked in and were seated immediately. The waitress was very professional and attentive. She got everything right and came by often to refill drinks. We both ordered pancakes and eggs (over medium is how we both like them, done but yokes running). Wives eggs were a little bit too done but she said they tasted fine. Mine were perfect. Bacon was thick and crispy just like we like it. We both had plenty and could not finish but we got close. The place was super clean and open air though it was not very busy for a Saturday morning. We will return for sure.

Location/Parking: It located in Bulverde near Walmart. There is parking around the restaurant. Price: The prices are good. You can get a taco for around $4 each. Most entrees at around $10 and a fajita plate for $16-22. A kid's meal is $4-$5. Ambiance/Seating: It is a nice restaurant with clean bathrooms. There is a bar seating, private seating and drive thru. Food/Drinks: There is a bar area and serves margaritas and mojitos and a beer. The food was okay. We received free chips and salsa. The chips were fresh tasting homemade chips. The salsa was tasty with a kick to it. The refried beans could be more flavorful. Service: Service was wonderful! Our waiter checked on our drinks often and refilled as needed. Overall, the food was okay. This is a great place to take a client for a meal or host a meal with a large group.

Food and service is consistently good. The servers are so nice and quick. We have been coming here for nearly three years now. Best value around north SA for Tex Mex.

This is in our top ten let down places for the year.....everything that could go wrong went wrong…read more From ordering, to the food, wrong. First, I'm a very proud Mexican, I'm fluent in 4 languages. So I don't have a problem with ordering pretty much anywhere. The problem was I was the only one bilingual in my party. Please understand the following. I'm not even remotely stating anyone's ethnic background or language is wrong. So we get up to order, I notice the huge accent on the young lady, and she was struggling mightily to speak English. So I ordered in Spanish. There was a man standing next to her, perfect English. I got my cup, went to get my drink while others ordered behind me. I had to go back and translate, because the person behind me was almost in tears trying to order. Like watery eyes and red. What didn't help is the young lady behind register was so bad at hiding her facial expressions, she was annoyed and frustrated. So this is where I have the problem. Why didn't the other gentleman step in, and why have someone taking orders, who can't understand if someone doesn't speak Spanish? I would think because of the area that wouldn't be the case? It really upset me, and the affected person had to go to the bathroom, I'm pretty sure to cry. It wasn't that she couldn't order, but the fact that they mentioned more than one person behind the counter was making faces.. Enough of that. After getting situated and calm, the food began to come out. As for the food, I was excited because as perplexing as it was, the crowd was 99% Latino. Which is 9/10 a great sign we are about to get great food. NOPE. Talk about insult to injury. Dish after dish it was all woefully under seasoned. Like the cheapest laziest way possible. I know you think, I'm just being harsh because of the incident. No, I was actually hoping for the opposite to soften the mood. I mean, everything lacked salt. Everything lacked kick. The awful pink coleslaw on the fish and shrimp tacos was unappetizing and unnecessary. It added nothing, and we all picked it off. I've never seen that in Mexico, or any other seafood place in town. The ceviche also lacked kick. I think I heard, "this is like canned tuna with lime?" No tang or kick. The green table sauce was equally unimpressive. No bite. The coctel was very imbalanced. The servings are tiny for the price. I could go on and on. The one positive, I don't know if they have a machine to make their own corn tortillas, or they buy them, these are the best I've had in a while. I say bought because they were all perfectly the same size and shape! Yep they were pretty darn good. Other than that, I genuinely do not understand the high reviews. Wouldn't ever come here, and absolutely would not recommend!

I'm not sure if they're just this ignorant or they just don't give a f$&k. First, whoever works Sundays, the shorter older lady with glasses, leaves the phone off the hook in her pocket for 10 minutes at a time so if you're trying to order ahead good luck. It's not because they're that busy. You're going to get a busy tone for 10-15 minutes straight until she realizes. Today it was 17 minutes. THIS IS A REGULAR OCCURRENCE for at least two years now. We ordered 8 tacos and not a single taco was made correctly. Even after Laura repeated the order correctly on the phone somehow that did not translate to the computer. This is a family owned restaurant run by people who don't actually want to run a restaurant. My only hope is this place goes under completely so another descent restaurant can take its place but it's unlikely since the entire family lives in the backyard. Avoid this "restaurant" at all costs or risk wasting 50.00 for a bag of hot garbage food. We're having to make our own eggs to add to our tacos because some idiot wrapped 5 tacos with bacon only. Who tf orders 5 bacon only tacos? That's it, bacon and tortilla. Absolutely ridiculous.
