This is a very good surprise. The food there is exceptionally well and the service there is outstanding. The people there are all friendly and knowledgeable about the menu. You can go in there for breakfast early in the morning, at lunchtime or in the evening for dinner. I really want to rate a 4 but the inconsistency of the times we've eaten there are driving the 3. Breakdown: Beef enchiladas- always good - 4 Chicken enchiladas- inconsistent - 2 Breakfast tacos - inconsistent and sometimes too greasy -2 Country sausage, egg , cheese - always a 5! So we eat here often, and we are never disappointed. The food is good, the service is usually spot-on, and the ambiance is a cool little Mexican restaurant with all the trappings of culture that you would expect. I had the ham and cheese platter, which is ham and cheese scrambled eggs, potatoes, and beans with a couple of tortilla shells to use as you wish. I like to roll two breakfast tacos with the beans, eggs, ham and a few potatoes, then eat the rest like a normal breakfast. The only complaint was the coffee was a bit watery, and our server was pulling double duty on the drive through and we were on a bit of a tight schedule so we would have preferred to get out of there a bit quicker. Charged us a dollar when we asked them to keep the beans and substitute with rice! Asked them to keep the lettuce too. You saved on beans and lettuce and charged us for rice?! January 2025---I went back and continue to go back due to the flavor of the food. The customary food for New Year's is menudo. I am the only one in my family who likes this tasty beef tripe soup so I go hear. I love that it seems like an easy dish but it can easily be ruined. I have known other restaurants that don't cook it long enough or the broth is not simmered long enough to develop so it is just like brown flavorless water. This Menudo is nothing of the sort. The flavor is so deep and developed that it should be at a Michelin star restaurant. The inside is not very big but if you do decide to go in you will have a very attentive experience. I also know that the sweet tea is nectar for some folks. If you are in the Spring Branch area I would definitely stop and enjoy some delicious Tex-Mex food. read more

I never give reviews ever, but after giving this place multiple chances I think it's only fair that I warn others so they don't experience the same thing. The past 3 times my wife and I have gone through the drive through here, our orders have been atrociously wrong. I order 5 tacos, they give me 3 and all are the wrong kind. I ask for an enchilada plate, they give us something else. Third time was the charm this morning when I ordered 4 Barbacoa tacos and they gave me 5 bean and cheese. I've only ever eaten one thing from here and that's chicken fajita tacos. And they are da bomb. Flavorful and filled with onions and peppers and stuff that seem to be sautéed in butter and maybe some garlic. Tortillas are thick and chewy ... like mamacita would make. My brother-in-law swears by this place, but after eating here before we drove back up to Dallas, we tried it once more and all I have to say is that it is alright at best. Nothing major, nothing exciting, just alright. I tried the huevos rancheros and it just fell flat for me. They salsa on top of it had no kick and lacked flavor and the beans were way too runny for me. I just don't get it. Now, they salsa they serve with the chips was really good. I was driving around the Texas hill country to visit an old friend out in Spring Branch when I stumbled upon El Rodeo de Jalisco- it's a tiny spot that's bigger inside than it looks from the outside, but there's a drive-thru available if you're in a rush. I highly recommend taking the time to dine inside, as the atmosphere is cozy and the service is as friendly as family. The eats here are legit, classic, and delicious. The menu has all of your favorite tex-mex staples, prepared as if your abuela is in the cocina making it just how you like- giant portions, piping hot, extra cheese on everything! The combo plates are your best bet to get a little bit of everything. It's been so long since I've had food this good that my eyes were bigger than my stomach and I ordered half the menu. The fresh chips and salsa are good, but don't fill up on that. The enchiladas (cheese please) have a great red sauce, and the tostadas are piled high with fresh produce and both guac AND sour cream. Crispy tacos aren't really my thing, but the carne guisada was stewed, meaty perfection. If this weren't so far out of my usual territory, I'd have come back for breakfast tacos. A great stop if you're traveling south on 281 towards San Antonio. The salsa they bring with the chips and salsa is tasty. I've always said the salsa is what makes a good Mexican/Tex-Mex restaurant. I had a margarita to refresh myself after a hike and it did the trick. Ordered the mini tacos with asada meat and they were also tasty! The green salsa they bring out is also delicious. Have drove by many times and decided to stop by and have lunch with my grandson. It wasn't busy, maybe 3 other customers but it took a while for our server to get to us.
