The taco salad bowl was awful. The tortilla shell smelled as old oil. When we initially got there my bf asked for a picadillo plate. The girl asked "what number?". She then said they have no picadillo. Weird because the taco salad had a picadillo option. I guess she couldn't just do picadillo with some rice and beans à la carte. Rice was bland, beans were mid. My taco salad inedible. The salad was mostly lettuce. The steak fajitas kinda chewy and not very flavorful. The carne guisada looked ok. The only thing that was decent was probably the chips and salsa. If you prefer a blander taste (everybody is different) then this is the place for you. This is our second time at Sely's. The first time we came, my mom really loved the food, and since she's visiting from out of state, I wanted to bring her back. Special shoutout to our waitress Idelmi :) super kind, attentive, and always checking on us. She made us feel so well taken care of. I am so happy that Sely's is open for dinner now!! We enjoyed a great dinner with phenomenal service. The restaurant was not as busy as it should be. Was clean and plenty of tables. There are plenty of TVs and even one that had a movie my 4yo son could watch Coco on. For an appetizer we got Bean and Cheese Nachos and Queso. Both were perfect. We ordered the Wednesday special that came with enchiladas, chalupa, puffy taco, rice and beans. Soooo much food and it was delicious! We also got the tortilla soup which was very filling and yummy broth. I know the reviews are all over the place but you should definitely give this place a shot for a great family dinner. read more

Always been good. Not this last time. Flour tortillas need to be put on grill to get warm and get some color. Tortillas are not white and chewy. They were barely edible. Potatoes were passable but a bit hard. Service was great, waitress did bring me a cooked tortilla. Not a fan anymore. As a Mexican American growing up eating tortillas everyday, I expect a Mexican restaurant to know how to heat up and serve a cooked tortillas. I'm adding another review. We moved I to the area (ish) 3 years ago and wanted a place to eat Mexican for breakfast - who doesn't want a reliable and tasty local taco joint? Three years in, and this is our go to place for breakfast if we eat out on a Sunday morning. Tacos are great, and they'll make whatever you want - even if it isn't on the menu. No complaints. Our regular server, Melly, is an absolute angel. Love her friendly welcome and ceaseless hospitality. Every time we go it feels like family and we can be certain of a great breakfast. Service here is awful. 15 minutes waiting and they can't even bring water to the table. When I brought this to the waitress attention she just said you can leave if you'd like didn't even offer water . When I asked if I could place my order, she said she didn't have paper to take my order down and instead of going to get her paper she never came back to my table and instead went to the register. I had to get up and ask for water, which again she said she couldn't get because she was too busy and that they only had 2 other servers. This was not the first time service has been bad but this was the worst experience yet . This was all from the owners mouth too. We will not be returning. read more

I've been coming to Sely's regularly for about a year now and it's seriously that good. Don't let the humble exterior fool you--this place serves legit good food. In San Antonio--or Schertz wherever this place is technically located--you can get decent TexMex just about anywhere. It's pretty hard to make anything slathered in melted cheese bad. But Sely's is actually very good TexMex. When I go to a Mexican restaurant in SA, I always get their cheese enchiladas as that usually tells me if other food is going to be good. Let me tell you, Sely's understands how to make delicious enchiladas just like your abuelita used to make. They're seriously that good. So good, in fact, that there is usually an enchiladas special of some sort every day of the week. While I'm talking about their daily specials. Omg. So much food. They usually give you a couple of enchiladas plus a taco or two or something. All for less than $10-as it should be! Let's talk about the rice--another make or break item on a menu for me. Sely's rice is always flavorful. I could eat just that for lunch. Oh! And their chips taste homemade not store bought and the salsa is delicious. The service is pretty good. The servers are all super friendly. Sometimes when it's busy the cooks will take awhile (we're talking an extra few minutes) on orders. If you're new to Randolph and you're in the mood for some good comfort food, San Antonio-style, get some enchiladas from Sely's and don't worry about the calories. Ordered an Enchilada and Puffy Taco special for $6.35. My order was for Pick Up. I asked for Asada on my Taco with Lettuce only. I picked it up and was charged $3.00 more for the asada without mentioning it when I ordered. I got my order back to my office and there was no lettuce and the enchilada sauce was all over my Puffy Taco. Definitely not worth the almost $10 I paid. Wont do that again. read more

I always get random taqueria's/restaurants each week. They hit the mark there on several levels. Huevos Rancheros plate is solid. Beans are packed with that buttery lard mouthfeel you seek for. Seasoned perfectly. Ranchera sauce was money. Drench the whole plate please! I also had to try a Carne Guisada taco. Never know if it'll be tender at places but it was delicious as well!! Beware of unknowingly being overcharged. Ask for an itemized bill. I got overcharged by $3. My breakfast item read $9.99 on the menu but the cashier charged me $12.99. She disagreed with me even when I showed her the item on the menu. A restaurant should always give you an itemized check initially for you to look over. They trap you into overtipping regardless of the quality of service or food. Customize your tip to the quality of service you received by pressing the green key. Also know they charge you if you ask for a to go container and for salsa for your eggs. I understand they pool the charged tips to disperse them not sure who all is included. So we tip with cash! Breakfast tacos are good. Thinking of moving on to another place for breakfast! read more

Went to visit during lunch on 3/3/21. 3 of us sat down and waitress got 2 out of 3 drink orders wrong and had this look on her face that she was mad! One of us asked if they could have some coffee and she replied "we don't have any coffee after breakfast". By this time the tension was getting thick so we just ate and left. I received a coupon for Sely's (the pink building on hwy 78 near Randolph AFB) and had never been before, but the buy one get one lunch coupon attracted me to try it. I was sadly disappointed when I showed them the coupon before ordering and they said they didn't know anything about it. The waitress took a photo of it and checked with her manager over the phone then confirmed they would not take it. I pointed out the valid expiration date (Jan. 13, 2023) but they still wouldn't accept it. So I left. Their meal prices are reasonable to some but too high for me to use without the coupon. Sely's is a very surprising restaurant - a bright pinkish colored metal building that is very unassuming on the outside with simple fixtures and furniture on the inside. The TV on the wall typically plays Univision or whatever soccer game the workers are rooting for. The low prices on the menu would lead you to believe the food is going to be very run-of-the-mill typical San Antonio Mexican. But don't judge a book by it's cover. The food here is definitely not gourmet, but it's not cheap Mexican either - although it is very inexpensive. It's mostly homemade, flavorful, and appropriately spicy with a style that in my opinion is slightly closer to TexMex than authentic Mex. If you select one of their daily specials (on Friday the special is two cheese enchiladas, two puffy tacos, rice and beans), you'll pay about $5.99 and you'll get enough food for two meals. I always take half of mine home for lunch the next day. Possibly the best value of any restaurant in the San Antonio area. Tortillas and chips are homemade and the chips are usually fresh fried, a little on the crunchy side, with all the fun yellow, orange, and green colors the kids love to eat. I'm not a huge fan of their red salsa, although there really isn't anything wrong with it. The verde salsa is excellent (and hot), but you have to ask for it. On the scale of getting more than you expected, this restaurant is a 5 star establishment. Still, I'd like to see slightly better lighting inside and they need to do something with the décor to make it feel more welcoming, maybe tune to an English language TV show occassionally. But, my complaints are very minor, Sely's has definitely earned my 4 star rating, plus a tiny bit extra. read more

I was almost scared off by the 3.5 stars but the parking lot is always full so I decided to try it. I now get it. The food is very good with some glaring shortcomings. My wife had the fajita taco salad in a edible taco bowl. The fajita meat was delicious but the taco bowl was old and inedible. The best part is breaking up the bowl to scoop up the good stuff. I also didn't care for the individual packets of sour cream and salad dressing. It might be just as good but it's not a nice presentation. I had the #2 combo. 2 puffy beef tacos with 2 cheese enchiladas. It comes with rice and beans, small guacamole, chili gravy and 2 house made tortillas. I love the extra tortillas for scooping up all the gravy. Everything on my plate was very good and it as a lot of food for the price. I would definitely go back but I could not give 4 or 5 stars. We have driven by this place several times and finally decided to stop. The menu was large with several options. After you order, they bring complementary chips and salsa. They were delicious! The green salsa is very spicy! We ordered individual items (tacos pastor, chorizo and egg taco, Chile Rellano, and a tamale. The pastor was good, but a little dry. Looks like a hole in the wall but you know what they say about those types of restaurants ... they are always the best places to eat. I love breakfast and theirs is magnificent, including the cinnamon on the French toast. My husband loves the traditional TexMex cuisine. Everything is fantastic. Our grandson loves the green chips - don't ask lol. Our granddaughter who is literally still a baby can't get enough of the beans and quac. For years I have been driving by this bright pink restaurant. One morning my husband wanted breakfast and I suggested we finally tried this place since I always see a lot of cars fill up the parking lot. We walked in and there was no one there. The wait staff were all in the back. We had grabbed our own menus and sat down. After a few minutes a lady came out and saw us. She asked us if we were ordering Togo. Nope we were dining in. So she said just let her know when we were ready to order. She stood next to the Margarita Machine applying he make up my husband and I continued to look at the menu. After a few minutes we asked her about the menu. She walked over and answered our questions. We ordered some breakfast tacos and my husband ordered biscuit and gravy. Followed by our drink order. Food came out nice and fresh and did not take much time. I was surprised how big the tacos were. The tacos were very tasty and my husband enjoyed his food. I would order for pick up next time . Their breakfast tacos were very good. We walked up the register to pay and they should items at the counter and I touched them and they were rock Hard. I was a bit shocked on how hard they were. It said tortillas $.75. I think they should just have a sign rather a display or old tortillas. The server brought a bowl of chips, a salsa bowl and 2 different salsa's (hot and mild). We then ordered the specials. The serving size was massive, and tasted wonderful.
