The enchiladas were bland, gravy was beef gravy, no flavor, brorocho beans were thick gravy and blan , no flavor , Spanish rice was a small icream scoop and about a tablespoon of lettuce, no tomato, no tortillas, only thing was good was margarita but very expensive, on a scale from 1bad 10 good I'll give them a 2 and that's for the margarita flavor read more

The food here is fine but the bar service is a real problem. I regularly order top-shelf margaritas here with my meal, which come at a high premium price. Recently, I've watched the female bartender make my drink and noticed she pours only about 1/4 of a shot instead of the full shot these margaritas are supposed to contain. I politely pointed this out. Instead of fixing the drink, she pretended not to understand English - even though I've personally heard her speaking fluent English. When I pressed the issue, she still refused to correct the drinks. You're paying high-end prices for a weak, dishonest pour. If you're paying for quality, don't expect to get what you ordered here. read more

As wonderful as the food, service, and atmosphere are at Sandra's cantina, i must say that their gift certificate policy absolutely sucks. If you don't use the entire gift certificate, you forefit the balance. This absolutely ruined the experience for me. How inconsiderate. I couldn't even leave the balance for my waitress. Tacos are all I've had here for 3 years every time I leave San Antonio heading back to Lawton Oklahoma. I get excited knowing I'll take tacos back to Lawton. Lol!! They aren't greedy with their food! They stuff them tacos! Homemade tortillas. Beans are so GOOD! The service is always good, order at the bar for " To Go" . Restrooms are always clean & smell nice. The furniture in here is very nice heavy wooden chairs & tables. The atmosphere is cozy and comfortable. The temperature is perfect! read more

My wife and I put this on our weekend breakfast because we have tried every restaurant in SA at least once !!! very clean and relaxing atmosphere with very nice outdoor Covered patio with plenty of fans with live music on Friday & Saturday evening. They have every dish you can think of for lunch and Dinner that taste like Authentic Mexican food. (Not Tex Mex bland food ) Full Bar and Fantastic Margaritas & COLD Beers. We usually really love this spot but the service can be a hit or miss. My boyfriend and I went here today and he had ordered cheese enchiladas. He received chicken enchiladas and it was another 20 minutes of him waiting for his food. It's alright, mistakes happen and happens to the best of us. But when he was about to start eating he realized he no longer had silverware, it was left on the plate that was taken back, handed him mine because I was basically done eating at that point and our waitress was busy with other tables as it started to pick up for a dinner rush. He was pretty disappointed with the experience this time, and unfortunately so was I. I don't really have any remarks for my meal, I had the fajita beef plate- pretty good but not super notable. All their ground beef has bell pepper in it. We ordered the chipotle burrito., and it was horrible. Neither me or my husband could eat it. I then went to the restaurant to pick up their tortillas soup, which is the only thing they have that's good that we've eaten, I was told that their burritos don't have peppers. We went there today and got an to go order or beef Chalupa's only to find that they put bell pepper and all their ground beef. So neither of us could eat that. Maybe they should try to make ground beef without bell pepper peppers, and add it only upon request or allow someone to request no bell peppers. If we're going to have bell peppers in with their ground beef, they should put it on their menu. read more

Just meh. Probably won't be back and I live only 3 minutes away. Service was slow and the waitress made it abundantly clear that she would rather be literally anywhere else. She was not friendly or attentive AT ALL. I don't think she even smiled once in the 90 minutes we were there. It was difficult to get her attention when I needed something because she wouldn't even scan her 5 tables to look at people. I asked the hostess for things a couple of times. Everyone had a margarita on their table, so I figured they were on happy hour on a Tuesday evening, but they weren't. $10 but it tasted ok. Kitchen is gruelingly slow. Order an appetizer, so you don't notice the 45+ minute wait for your 2 enchiladas after you order them. I asked for more chips & salsa at one point and 15 minutes later I had to ask again because no one ever brought it. Food was mediocre. I thought the enchilada gravy was lacking flavor and the little chunks of tender beef that really good gravy has, puffy taco was dripping so much grease so I only ate half, nothing to write home about on the flavorless rice even after they caught all the puffy taco grease, and refried beans were unappealing. The borracho beans had a bit of a kick to them and the salsa was great. I just expected a lot better for $45 (2 plates and 1 margarita). Prices are pretty high for Mexican food, IMO. Do yourself a favor and go to Limestone on 46. Better food, better service, better prices, but not better salsa. read more

I need to update my review on this place. We have been several times since my last review and it has been awesome every time. This is our go to Mexican food place. The food is always so fresh and tasty. I have tried several things on the menu and they have all been great. The service is great, we have gotten to know several of the waitresses and they are cheerful and attentive. I know many people complain about the wait for the food, but it is worth it. They don't start cooking it, until you order it. It doesn't get any better than that. I don't understand why people want good food fast, instead of great food that takes a little longer? Where are you in a hurry to get to? I am sure the kitchen is small and they are cooking as fast as possible. Great food, great place. Will definitely go back again and again. read more
