Variety tacos with side rice

Heard a lot about this place from friends. We stopped by on Sunday late afternoon (open until 7pm on Sundays's). Waitress was superb! They had $5 Margarita special for the restaurants 5 year anniversary Some like it hot Margarita ( very flavorful ) Chips & salsa (tasted roasted) very good For tacos : The OG Heat wave (super spicy , be aware , I can handle spicy but this was over the top ) The Bruce Lee Roy La Bebe Verde El poker Churros It's located in downtown Rock Hill Free parking everywhere Nice cool place

Gave Ay Papi a try with mixed results. Decided to try 3 tacos. The O.G., El Porker and Short King. Both the OG and El Porker were just average. Not bad but not anything that stood out as amazing. The Short King was amazing though. It was well put together and the Bau bun was fantastic. Next time I would just get that x3. The service was also ok. Nothing fantastic but not bad either.

Went as part of a benefit bar crawl but we stayed for a bit to have some lunch. No wait, got serve very quickly and had our complimentary cocktails as part of the benefit. Ordered the 3 taco meal. We picked the Bruce Lee Roy, Bao Down and Carnitas. I really enjoyed the Asian fusion ones. Fun spot, check them out!

Tried this place for the first time today. It was early-ish lunch for a Sunday. Not very busy. Place was clean, ki d of small, but sufficient . We were greeted promptly and sat right away. We did ask what was popular and our waitress advised us of that per the menu. I decided on the 2 taco plate. I thought they were delicious. I tried a fish taco, and I do feel it could have had a bit more flavor, and be served with lime, but overall food was great. I will definitely be back. My older two ordered off the brush menu. The chicken and Pancake taco and breakfast burrito. The papas are so good! My little one ordered the two chicken and cheese tacos from the kids menu (thanks for having a kid menu)!! Great experience and friendly employees. Thank you.

Horrific experience. I will never never come back. First of all, hair in the queso. Second of all, the food was terrible. The crab cake taco was so salty I literally could not eat it. The scallop taco had black beans and the flavor was just not right. I did (very nicely and gently) talk to the server and the manager to share feedback on our experience. The manager's solution was to take the queso and $5 off the bill. This dinner was a waste of money and calories.

Fit for the Mexican Mafia margarita

Walking in it looks festive and fun. Looked much smaller than I thought. They sat us at a high top table that had a giant water pipe in the middle of it with valves sticking out into the seating space. The menu is mostly tacos and their version of some basics. The bar looked great and the drink menu was very extensive. The margarita was on the rod (not blended) but the flavor was good and so was the alcohol content. On to the tacos. The fish taco was good but all the flavor was in the sauce topping. I never really tasted the fish. The shrimp was a little better, but again, the sauce takes over. Somehow they messed up a basic steak taco, very bland and pieces were too big. The Korean style tacos were great, very tender and the flavor was not overwhelming. Finally the carnita tacos, most disappointing. They looked as if the would be great but in fact they were just boring. Another gripe I had was with the tortillas, we ordered corn and it's like they just steamed them for a few seconds before filling them, which made them very weak. Service was great and friendly. PS don't get the rice, not sure what they are trying to do, but it was a big miss.

Mexican Balls!

This place is great! The service and food were perfect. The only reason I can't rate it at 5 is because it was unbelievably hot in there. So hot that it was hard to enjoy our meal. The bartender finally turned down the AC after we'd been there about an hour. I'll go back in the Winter. Tacos were excellent, Mexican Balls were different and great, guac was meh.

We had a fantastic time we didn't spend as much time as we originally intended but next time we definitely well, we met the owner and he's a fantastic person... actually had a really great conversation about how his restaurant came to. As far as the food we ordered the flight taco and some of our choices were the OG, the Catawba, and a Korean inspired one. The tacos were absolutely delicious my only complaint was I should have chose corn tortillas as the base. Come for the drinks but stay for the papas (potato fries) so yum!

Tacos were fantastic, deep flavors and fresh toppings. Tried the elote wedges - good but messy & hard to eat. Salsa was extremely garlicky, but I couldn't stop eating it, nor have I stopped tasting it 6 hours later.

I have been waiting to try this for a while now. My friends and I were downtown Rock Hill and were hungry for a late lunch so we decided to stop by this place. We were sat right away and greeted with the kindest smile. We ordered drinks and tacos which came out in a decent amount of time. The margarita was strong but good. The tacos were different for sure in a good way. They were unique in a way but the flavor was there for each one that I had. Everything was amazing from the food to the drinks. If you want to try new and different I would want to suggest this place.

I met my husband for lunch at this fairly new Tex Mex joint in Downtown Rock Hill, and here's my take. The place itself is pretty cute...with some popping artwork, fancy light fixtures, and bright, colorful palette throughout. However, I thought the layout for the tables were a bit awkward. There were actually only 6 sizable tables, 3 of which were directly facing the bathrooms. VERY awkward! There were lotsa barstools facing the walls and the windows...and I thought that was quite odd. Guess it'd be a good place to visit alone? Seems they specialized in tacos, so I went for the Taco Flight of 3 ("The Bruce Lee Roy", "The Chesterfield" and "The Lafayette"), with a side salad. My husband isn't a fan of the Raddish or Slaw in most of their tacos, so he ordered the "Burrito Me", which was quite sizable, with Papi's Poblano. Well, their tacos had some potential, but they weren't cooked nor served hot enough. The shells and the meats were barely warm. My husband said the same thing about his burrito. We both agreed that our foods were simply not cooked long enough...and not properly heated! Obviously, we both didn't quite love the foods. Also, must say that the Korean taco (misnamed "The Bruce Lee Roy" LOL...BTW, Bruce Lee is NOT Korean!) was not authentic at all...but guess I wasn't expecting it really. Overall, I thought the place had a certain charm (though again, a bit awkward). The foods COULD have been good (if properly cooked/heated!), and at the very least, they were reasonably priced. Also, the service was really good...fast and friendly. Am glad I checked out the place...but not itching to go back soon. Not opposed to revisiting in the future, but I sure hope the foods are properly cooked next time?

The food was delicious. The service was great. Prices were good. We were all pleased with our food, place and service.

Pork Carnitas Burrito with Papas and Guac
Laura M.

I ordered the pork carnitas burrito with fried potatoes and I ordered a side of guacamole. Everything tasted fresh! The burrito was huge and I could only eat half. Our group tried the churros dessert. It was also very tasty! The only negative was that everything is a la carte including the chips and salsa. I'm accustomed to being greeted with chips and salsa at most Mexican restaurants.

This stylish and vibrant restaurant serves authentic Mexican cuisine and has the same owners as Casa Tequila in Rock Hill and Mr. Rayo Mexican Grill in Fort Mill, SC. SERVICE: My server for the evening was Jesse. He was super friendly, knowledgeable about the menu and patient as I had a hard time deciding which margarita to get as well as dip because I wanted to try 'em all. Worth Tryin' Recommended Highly Recommended Miss Black Foodie Fave APPETIZERS: Chorizo Dip ($9.99) - excellent taste and consistency Street Corn Elote ($6.99) - Grilled or boiled corn cob smothered in a creamy mayo sauce and topped with chili powder, cotija cheese, and lime - loved the texture of the corn, but the Cotija cheese flavor wasn't as bold as I'm used to. I will try the street corn in the esquites version on my next visit to see if there is more flavor MARGARITA: Mango Chamoy Frozen Margarita ($15.95) - excellent presentation, perfect amount of sweetness A LA CARTE: Mexican Pizza ($12.99) - comes with your choice of ground beef or shredded chicken, prepared with a large flour tortilla, onions, tomato, peppers, and mozzarella cheese - immense flavor from the peppers, shareable size SIDE: Refried Beans ($3.99) SEAFOOD: Fish Tacos Entrée ($15.99) - Grilled or tempura style (I chose tempura). Three fish tacos served with tossed salad, pico de gallo and your choice of cilantro rice or Mexican rice (I chose Mexican rice) on the side - each taco has a good size fish fillet. I love that the seasoning on the fish doesn't overpower the fish's natural taste

Our waitress, Brandi (Brandice), was phenomenal -- knowledgeable, informative, respectful, and genuinely happy to be there. Her energy made the entire experience even better. The restaurant itself is deeply rooted in history as part of the Friendship Nine sit‑in location, and you can feel that significance the moment you walk in. It adds a meaningful layer to an already great dining experience. The bathroom was spotless, the prices were very reasonable, and everything from start to finish felt intentional and well cared for. Highly recommend Kounter for anyone looking for great food, great service, and a place that honors an important piece of Rock Hill's history.

On the menu for today I chose the Blue plate Special ($23) OG, bacon wrapped meatloaf, swirl potatoes, veggie du jour, stewed, collards, steakhouse, vinaigrette, cilantro Crema. The dish was Tender medallions of meatloaf, wrapped in savory bacon. Topped with a steakhouse vinaigrette, tangy, and savory, which had an amazing flavor by itself, I just wish it added more to the main. Which was slightly bland. Unfortunately, this cilantro Crema had no hints of cilantro. The actual star of the show is the collard greens. The Collard greens has a subtle kick, which is amazing and flavorful, and gives that little extra punch. Hand slammed fries ($5) Parmesan - rosemary dusted, roasted tomato malt vinaigrette. Tasty especially with their house made ketchup, but unfortunately, the fries were a little on the soggy side. And a Blake's cider (5). crisp and refreshing. Perfect for a southern Carolina afternoon. Overall, food was delicious, but could use just a hint of attentions to flavor. I would definitely recommend you give Kounter a try. I would love to come back here again and try some more of their menu. Follow me on Yelp and Instagram @noodlesoupr as I travel the world in search of delicious food encounters.
