The broth was super light and flavourful, the combination of clear and hand pulled wide noodles was very nice, providing different texture to the meal. The meat was cooked nicely, removing that gamey taste most people don't like with lamb. I added a Wintermelon Lemon Tea and that was the perfect compliment to the meal. The restaurant was small, but felt cozy and was also clean. The servers were very polite. So all in all, the ambiance was very good. I had heard many great things about this restaurant and was excited to finally try it, but unfortunately it fell short of expectations. The restaurant itself was clean and the staff were attentive. As for the food, the beef noodle soup noodles were overly soft, the chicken nuggets were too salty, and the deep-fried pork chop was oily and fatty. The one dish I did enjoy was the stir-fried squid, which was probably the most decent dish of the meal. I did share my feedback with the server, and I appreciated that they offered a small discount for the inconvenience. I saw this place on YouTube and wanted to try their noodles. The restaurant is small and quite family friendly. We love Taiwanese beef noodles so decided to check this place out. Aside from noodles, they also have stir fry dishes, appetizers and bubble tea. We got the 2 bowls of beef noodle soup. Their broth is rich and flavorful. They use beef shank for the beef. It is thick but super tender. We got the think noodles and it was very chewy. overall, it is a very good bowl of noodles and the price is reasonable. We had some lucky timing with this place! We were seated right away when we arrived, but by the time we placed our order there was a wait outside and they were adding names to a waitlist. We ordered a broccoli appetizer and a couple deluxe bowls. I ordered mine with the hand pulled noodles, and it was served with some egg, wontons, and veggies. The hand pulled noodles are good but probably wouldn't be my favorite choice for this dish. The noodles were thick and wide which made them heavy and slippery and difficult to eat with chopsticks. The broth was light and refreshing which offsets the richness of the other things in the bowl. The beef was incredibly soft and tender - if they had bones they'd fall off so easily. Solid spot for beef noodle soup. I liked the filling of the dumpling and that I could choose the type of noodles. I chose the wider hand pulled ones and they were bouncy and stretchy, not overly thick or heavy. Beef was good and not chewy. The soup could use more flavour in my opinion. Really solid dishes that were very comforting, super filling, yet felt healthy and flavorful. Each ingredient stood out on its own and complemented the whole, and was cooked well. Even my husband (who doesn't like pickles) enjoyed the pickled cabbage in the beef noodle soup. I like that you can choose from several different types of noodles depending on your preference. Came here for the first time after the business is about 6 months in. The interior is quite modern for a Taiwanese restaurant. Service is quite fast, beef noodle soup being a staple here. The beef noodle soup is a 3 out of 5. Beef shank doesn't taste like it's braised well enough so that the flavors are not deep. Pieces are tender but flavour could be richer. Soup is flavourful but thin. The thin noodles though are very chewy and texture is perfectly al dente. Fried Squid Tentacles could use some more sprinkling of seasoning salt. read more

Visited this spot a few months ago. Got off of a ferry and it as a rather rainy wet weekend so wanted to go for some soup! Wanted to take my parents to try Taiwanese beef noodle soup and they were completely obsessed. Comforting flavours, we all opted for the knife cut noodles which was a fantastic texture, ordered some clams and popcorn chicken (which I forgot to take a picture of) as well and it was sooo delicious and absolutely hit the spot. Unfortunately, I don't think this place has improved. I've eaten in a lot of TW beef noodle places and i don't think this tastes like a quality bowl of Taiwanese beef noodle. The noodles were tough. It took a while to decide and I went with their signature Beef noodle soup with hand stretched noodle. It was plentiful and the beef was tender. I'm going to do the Yelp community a solid by including pictures since the first two reviews didn't include any. We're always on the lookout for any new Taiwanese place since my wife is from Taipei. This new place in Richmond is super convenient for us since it's less than a quarter mile from where we are staying. We ordered the Original Beef Noodle Soup ($13.99), Deluxe Braised Pork on Rice ($16.95) and Taiwanese Fried Chicken aka Popcorn Chicken ($7.99). The beef noodle broth had a very aromatic beef scent and taste, however, it was lacking some spices that I associate with Taiwanese beef noodle. I make mine with Lu Bao and it seemed lacking of it; I prefer my broth with a little more "punch." The noodles were wonderfully tender with some "bite" to it and the beef shank was quite tender. The rice dish was definitely the better of the two. The included egg is more like the Japanese ramen egg than the traditional boiled egg which is a nice fusion twist. Taiwanese sausage was delicious as was the braised pork pieces. Surprisingly, was the inclusion of pork floss which I haven't encountered in other Taiwanese rice dishes. The popcorn chicken taste just like you get at any other place. We always like ours with deep fried basil which this one has. Service was very good here and the two young ladies were very attentive to us and made sure we have everything we needed and would also occasionally check on us. 4.5 Food 5.0 Service Solid 4.5 and will certainly be part of our restaurant rotation when we're in town. read more

Many individuals have praised AYA's beef noodles and salted crispy chicken, and today, my husband and I finally had the opportunity to try it. Unfortunately, it was a huge disappointment. We ordered a deluxe red braised beef knife-cut noodle soup, which came with tough beef, wontons with thick skin and minimal filling, minimal pickled vegetables, and a half-boiled egg that lacked marinated flavor. The knife-cut noodles were somewhat chewy, but the broth was completely flavorless. Having had my fair share of salted crispy chicken, AYA's version was excessively salty. I had to drink a cup of tea with each bite of chicken. Previously, I saw a group review praising AYA's salted crispy chicken as crispy, flavorful, and juicy, but our experience was entirely different. Both my husband and I found the chicken to be extremely salty, small in portion, and not crispy at all. My husband ordered a fresh taro milk tea with pearls, which we both agreed was the worst we've ever had. The milk tea had no flavor, and the pearls were small and hard, with a milk taste reminiscent of powdered milk. We couldn't detect any fresh taro flavor. My husband requested additional sugar, but the second time they brought it out, it was still flavorless and difficult to drink. My husband also ordered a pickled vegetable and intestine dish, which was overpowered by ginger and green onions, with minimal pickled vegetables and a flavorless intestine. I experienced gastrointestinal distress immediately after the meal. I spent considerable time in their washroom. We will not be returning, and it's no wonder they only had two tables of customers during lunch.The two servers were too busy chatting and had to be asked repeatedly to refill our tea.
