I can only comment on the shaved ice not the regular food. I went there for shaved ice because it was hot outside walking from the supermarket. The Google map didn't show the correct entrance because the front entrance is on the street not near the parking lot in the rear. The place almost looked closed. What I like about this place is that it's not closed in the afternoon unlike some other dessert places. The place is a little dark inside and I wish they have some wall plugs for you to charge your phones. The service is good and courteous although it can be slow at times. The shaved ice is alright although they put too much condensed milk. I wish they would put it on the side so you can pour it ourselves. Came for a late-night dessert They have a policy where you have to order at least the number of dishes as the people seated inside but it can be to go if needed for some of the items. The dining space is small but the decoration inside makes you feel like you transported to a different country. Marshmallow Thick Toast 4/5 The toast was about an inch thick, well toasted outside with a pillowy soft center. There's some melted chocolate on the bottom that added to the smores vibe. The marshmallows on top weren't very thick, so it melted to an even layer with perfect browning. The toast was cut into 9 pieces so it can be shared but given the portion I think 1-2 people would be fitting for this dessert. We weren't too hungry, so we shared amongst 4. Jasmine Tea Jelly 4/5 I really liked how fragrant the jelly was and that the jelly was a softer jelly that reminds you of Aiyu jelly. The after taste was a bit bitter but I feel like that tells me it was brewed and made and not just bought to serve. It's served with a splash of half and half I believe. To-Go I wanted to try and compare all the tea flavored jellies they had, Jasmine, Oolong and Earl Grey Tea Jelly. Packaged with small packets of the half and half to add later. The best was OOLONG 5/5- it had a slight roasted tea flavor that was refreshing and comforting at the same time. What you would want from a milk tea. Second best was Jasmine - fragrant and less bitter than the one I had in restaurant, typical jasmine flavor that's lightly floral and not too heavy Earl Grey 3/5 - it was good if you like earl grey like me, but it has an intensely strong fragrance and flavor that might be off-putting if you're not used to the taste. Really sold place for Taiwanese food. We stopped by at around 10pm for some dessert but got some snacks as well. The sausages were decent but the spicy marinaded pigs ear was very tasty. Very well seasoned and have a very nice crunch. Then we got the shaved ice with taro ball and brown sugar jelly. Perfectly nostalgic and authentic flavors, and honestly great service and a cozy environment. My friends and I dropped by with the intention of grabbing dessert, but ended up having a light dinner too. I got the pineapple shaved ice, which there was some confusion and they made me the pineapple slushy originally. I was a bit sad but didn't want them too have to remake it or chuck it so I said I'd just take the slushy. But they said it was okay and that they would make me the shaved ice, and don't worry about the slushy, they will "drink it" instead almost funny - but I really appreciates that level of service. And the pineapple shaved ice was everything I imagined it would be bringing back memories from my childhood in Hsin-Chu Taiwan. This Taiwanese eatery was recommended by friends in Vancouver. Each person sitting must place their own order, no sharing permitted. We were a group of 8, and we asked if we could place 6 orders for the table and the server agreed to the 6 orders. We had just completed a big dinner. My favourite was the Triple Classic Tofu Pudding, it was so silky. I had also ordered a Osmanthus Oolong Milk Tea with Tapioca Gummy Cubes. It was served in a paper cup and lid as if it was a take-out. The picture displays a delicious cold creamy beverage, with a ton of toppings on the top. My drink seemed to have a ton of ice cubes, and it did not have the volume of tapioca gummies indicated like the photo. I was somewhat disappointed. My sister had the Strawberry Shaved Ice with condensed milk and it did not have a lot of condensed milk. I cannot understand the high ratings of other reviewers. Came here based off a friend's recommendation on a recent Vancouver trip, and omg I have NOT stopped thinking about the peach green tea jelly dessert which I got here. It was SO GOOD. Just the perfect amount of sweetness for me, and great tea flavor. It was around $9 CAD, which is a bit on the higher side but acceptable to me given how good it was (they also give you quite a bit of it). I came here with a pretty large party (around 10 or so people), and we were able to get seated right away during off hours. The grass jelly was okay, not the best but still good. The custard tofu flower was very good and was my first time trying it. They don't put a lot of brown sugar in the sweetening sauce so the traditional tofu flower didn't have much flavor in the larger bowl, but did in the side desert dish that came with our noodles. The tofu desserts were good but I didn't like the old stained bowls that we were given - perhaps it was supposed to look like antique bowls but you don't really know. The thin napkins were thrown on the table and got all wet. We had to ask for fresh napkins. The waiter seemed new and not attentive until alerted. The tea was unique and was told that it was red watermelon seed tea. The shaved ice had few options for toppings and because there was not a generous portion, it didn't have the full flavor. We ordered the Taiwanese pork combo and ground pork combo and got the tofu pudding and jasmine jelly for dessert. Both came with an assortment of sides and a boiled egg in each rice bowl. Wow, this place is just perfect for those who love traditional Chinese desserts with a modern twist! And on top of that, they have FANTASTIC dinner menu items! I really loved their tea jellies, they have Oolong, Earl Grey and Jasmine tea jellies. It is literally a perfect modern take on traditional Chinese Jellies using a tea style flavour instead. They have a variety of toppings too to add on your main dish of desserts. They have oden and a variety of dinner menu items. Their bowls of rice are the typical Northern Chinese ingredients on top of them. The stewed beef and pork stuff, with tons of pickled radish etc. I didn't feel like any of them that night so I just went straight for the typical desserts. I love the decor of the place, as it is the typical traditional Chinese old Ming Dynasty. You can tell they worked so hard on getting the bricks made onto the walls, and on top of that that large doll display case is ridiculous!! If you like drinks and/or shaved ice with tropical flavors, make sure to check them out here - flavors like pineapple, passion fruit, etc. I originally wanted to come here to try the Taiwanese snacks and maybe tofu pudding, but I was overly full after a big lunch somewhere else, so I couldn't take advantage of those. Instead, I got the small pineapple shaved ice, which was huge for a small size. My friends got a large/regular shaved ice, which is way too much for 2 people unless you come here with an empty stomach. The fruit flavors were more on the sweet side, which I like, but someone who prefers sour or tartness might not. I'm not big on having beans in my desserts, so having pudding as an option was a relief. Something that bothered me was the rule requiring one order per person. This only worked out because my husband ordered a drink. If a group or couple wanted to come in just to share some shaved ice, tofu pudding, or jelly, that would be difficult because each person would have to come up with something to order when maybe they don't want anything else. An inviting and relaxing space offering "old fashioned" Taiwanese desserts and a handful of lamb dishes/snacks. Appreciated them being open late, even on a Sunday. We came for dessert and had a homemade milk tea, custard tofu pudding with toppings (barley, red bean, yam balls), and cream custard toast. Everything was delicious. This in itself would be enough for a top rating, but the visit was also special because of the beauty of the space (a stone wall facade that shuts out the outside world like you've stepped into a secret place) with dozens of thoughtful decorations across the walls. You sit down and feel that you're looking at a story about a place and a family's connection to it. The website has a nice history of the owners that help you appreciate that. The staff do a great job too. They were busy throughout our visit, but still polite, paying attention to everyone, and making sure the order was done correctly.
