I'm convinced mangoes in Vancouver are on another level compared to LA--especially after another great mango experience at Macu Tea Robson. The shop is tucked away on the second floor of an older plaza, and it was tough to find a seat since many people were having breakfast. Came here to try their mango mochi as it was recommended to us by multiple people and it did not disappoint! I got 2 mango mochis to try. The large pieces of mango were ripe, sweet and juicy which was wrapped in a soft, pillowy, chewy and stretchy mochi. The mochi skin wasn't too thick and not too sweet. The sweetest solely comes from the freshness of the mango and it was delicious. This restaurant is in a food court on the second floor of the building which wasn't very hard to find. It is attached to a parking structure which had plenty of parking spaces. I found out about the mango mochi from a YouTube video. Apparently, you have to pre-order online because they only sell 30 per day, so I placed an order for three of them for the day I flew into Vancouver, for a 2 PM pick-up. When I arrived, they couldn't find my order and it turns out that I had accidentally placed it for the following Thursday. Luckily, they still had maybe 10-15 left that day and I was still able to pick up my three. Each mochi is $4.99 (+ tax). The label recommends that you fridge it if you don't eat it within 2 hours, and then you should eat it within 24 hours. We ate ours later that evening after it being in the fridge for a few hours, and it was still good. The mango is really sweet. It tasted like they also added condensed milk in there. We saved the third one for the next day, and it was no good. The mochi was hard and crumbly. That being said, I wouldn't recommend buying any extra, and if you can, eat it a few hours after you buy it, for peak freshness. They do keep it in the fridge, so you may want to wait for it to warm up to room temp (we didn't wait, and it was fine). It was a good mochi but I don't know if I'd go out of my way to get it again if I visit Vancouver again - but nice for a one-time experience. FYI, Rice Holic is located in a food court on the second floor. You have to turn into the parking deck and go inside, then upstairs. Saw this spot on social media so I wanted to give it a try and it was just okay ish. Located in the upstairs food court so took us a second to find out where it was. We got there around 1pm and it wasn't busy so my order came out fast, I ordered the special promo regular size includes 2 mangos mochi and 2 fresh mango slushies. First initial bite was underwhelming the mochi was not chewy it was rather sticky, mango was sweet tho. The drink was good too I like that I had pieces of real mango whenever I took a sip. Some of the best mango mochi! Takes me right back to Hong Kong. This place went pretty viral and I had it bookmarked as a spot I needed to try on my trip to Vancouver. I haven't found anything similar in the States, and was so excited to finally come! It was a little difficult to find, but is in the mall upstairs with the other food spots. We got 2 mango mochis to share, which came out to 10 CAD. Not a bad price! They were absolutely DELICIOUS. Think of the freshest juiciest mango enveloped in the softest chewiest mochi. Ok I'm giving it 4 stars mainly for the mango mochi and mango drinks. Yes they are that good. Each mango mochi is a full mangos worth. The drinks are superb too. Now, the food. It is probably worth only 3 stars - if that. My salt and pepper chicken thighs were alright. Not too bad, but I've had better Taiwanese food. My wife really didn't like her chicken noodles. I came at 10:50 AM on Saturday. Things were packed. I luckily found a parking spot in the busy parking lot. It was a difficult to find the place, but I walked up the slope to the second level of the parking lot and through the doors, and immediately was in the food court with Rice Holic in front of me. Rice Holic wasn't open yet, but there was still a line forming! I was the third person in line. Once opened, they quickly took our orders. They have a pre-order system available on their website now, in case you don't want to brave the trip to Richmond only to find out that they're all sold out :( There's a limit of 6 mango mochis per person on each day if you pre order on their website, but there shouldn't be a limit for in person buying. They also show how many mango mochis are available for pre order for each day on their website! We pre ordered for a Monday at 1-2 PM (you have to pick the time window for pick up, not sure how lenient they are on it/if they sell your mango mochi if you're late, LOL). I pre ordered 3 (one for my boyfriend, one for me, and one for a friend) but ended up getting another one when we got there to split with my boyfriend because they still had some mango mochi in store by the time we got there! It was so delicious and the natural sweetness and firm yet fleshy texture of the mango went perfectly with the mochi. No other fruit could ever do it. Try to imagine biting into an apple mochi, or an orange mochi... not so appealing now, is it? A rice bento was around $15, and it had a good amount of proteins, vegetables and even an egg that was cooked runny. There was also some mushrooms thrown in for good measure. Sure the food here is good but this time we came strictly for the mango mochi which to me out of many in the Richmond/Vancouver, B.C. area there is no comparison! Each is filled with half a sweet perfectly ripened mango and no creamy fillers here. The mochi texture was also soft and each complements each other to make for one awesome taste! This is an unassuming stall tucked in the Admiralty Centre. This review is for the mango mochi which is the only thing I've tried. For all the hype I've heard about it, I expected more to be honest. The mochi in the mango mochi is very good and soft, it's the mango that didn't do it for me. They used old mangoes and it was evident in the flavor that it imparted -- it tasted almost fermented, and was very fibrous. On top of that, it wasn't sweet enough. This huge mango mochi went viral at the beginning of this year, I was not successful in my attempt early this year, but better late than never we finally got it last April. The mango mochi is indeed huge, it's half a slice of regular fruit, so far all the mochis were perfectly ripe, juicy and sweet. The coating is so soft that I was not a fan because I was excited to taste it I had them right away upon bringing them home and it kinda falling apart. So it's best to fridge it for at least an hour so the mochi coating will stick or for photo and video purposes freeze it for at least thirty minutes. Overall nice choice of fresh fruits, huge and delicious. The hype is down but it is still not always available, Rice Holic is taking preorders so check out their pages, IG and FB if you want to order. I think it's s a little pricy $10 for two but I still recommended especially this summer. read more

It's close to the airport so after landing in Vancouver, I decided to go try the TikTok famous/ super hyped up mango mochi at this location. We got there right when they opened, it inside an Asian mall on the second floor food court. Because I was travelling, I wasn't aware that this stall actually sold food as well. They limit the mango mochi to 2 per person only. They also have mini sized mango mochi along with the large one. Since all the TikTok videos i've seen of this mochi are the large size, I of course had to get the large one as well. The mochi itself is a 10/10. Chewy, great thickness and so delicious paired with the mango. The mango is also a 10/10 and super sweet and fresh. My husband and I made the trip here from downtown Vancouver to try their famous giant mango mochi! It's located on the second floor in an Asian food court. Based off other people's reviews and experiences, we decided to come here prior to opening to ensure we'd be able to grab some before they ran out. We arrived about half an hour early (although we didn't line up yet because we didn't want to look crazy LOL), and by 10 minutes before opening, a line formed with about ~10 people. Two pieces of the large mango mochi was about ~$10 CAD, although they do have smaller mango mochi available also. The mango was ripe and sweet, and the mochi was sooo soft and chewy! It was the perfect dessert and my husband and I both loved it. We also tried the mango pomelo sago, and while I enjoyed it and appreciated that they used real mango in the drink, I do prefer Yi Fang's since they blend it with ice and it's more chilled. It was still pretty good though! Seems to be the norm for the area, but in case you weren't aware, BRING CASH!!! They close at 3!! I figured this out at approximately 2:48, but I was in the area, so I made it to the address at about 2:56. It was a bit of a struggle trying to find Rice Holic in the shopping center food court that it is in. It is located on the second floor and you can see the food court from the main middle area of the first floor. I made it in line before they closed and was able to get my hands on the mini mango mochi. They come in a set of 2. I don't know how much I paid nor do I care. I got the last one for the day and felt like a winner! Take my money! So apparently you need to make an order for the big size mango mochi. The mini mango mochi was large though... Larger than I thought. I thought mini would mean bite size, but it was a decent size piece of mango, maybe 6 bites, wrapped in mochi and it was delicious. I definitely had to use a knife and fork to eat it. I'm so glad I got to try Rice Holic while in Richmond for the day. It was a last minute adventure that turned out perfectly. i called rice holic at around 2:50 pm on friday in an attempt to secure a couple of mango mochis, ('cause i showed up the week before, and they were sold out) and confirmed they have only the mini mango mochis left. i reserved six of these babies and was told they close at 5:00 pm and to get there before 4:30 pm, no problem, or so i thought. what is supposed to be a 22 minute drive, turned out to be well over an hour long ordeal with rush hour and construction. we showed up a few minutes before 4:30 pm, and i dropped one of the precious mango mochi containers on the ground! two mini mango mochis were on the parking lot pavement and i had to grope under the car to pick up my babies. there goes the five second and ten second rule. i have a newfound appreciation for the making of mochi. don't believe all the social media hype that says it's super easy...it's not. if you could only see how my mango mochi turned out, it's laughable. read more
