Get a tetanus shot before entering. Not good. The sangria mix and margarita mix looked dangerously over baked in the sun and unsanitary. And there is a two dollar charge to use the filthy bathroom if you are not a customer! What? Quac and chips $12.99? Another What? I eat out at least 3 times a week and have done so for the last 10 years. So when I say this is the WORST experience I have ever had at a restaurant, don't take it lightly! It was Sunday afternoon at 2pm and the place was empty. We had a table of 5 plus a baby. After seeing ourselves we waited 10 minutes for someone to find us and take a drink order. Two margaritas, a beer and Don Julio on the rocks. Pretty simple. 20 minutes later our drinks come. One watered down margarita on the rocks that tasted like water, the frozen mango one was not frozen at all and tasted like kool aid. And whatever they served me was not Don Julio. It was a watered down cheep tequila. Food time. There are 8 things on the menu. Tacos, (choose meat) 4 salads and 3 pizzas? Yes pizza. We order 5 pastor tacos, grilled chicken salad, 2 ground beef tacos. Guac, cheese dip and rice and beans. No choice of tortillas. Corn only. Soft only. We wanted steak tacos but they were out of steak. 1 hour to get our food with lots of running back and forth to the kitchen. 1 hour, and I remind you the place had 3 tables at this point. Salad- head lettuce and canned chicken with bottled ranch Pastor tacos - dried pineapples and pork that was most definitely cooked last week. Dry, flavorless. Disgusting! Rice and beans from a can. The guac was decent if you salt it Cheese sauce as from a can. Now here comes the bill. I politely told them how awful the food was and maybe let people know ahead of time you are out of everything and there kitchen will be slow. He said ok and dropped the check. I set down my credit card and this was honestly the fasted I saw this guy move! "We do not accept credit, cash only. Oooh but there is our atm". I politely said "I just gave my kids my debit card to go shopping and don't have cash on me." I also asked where the sign that says "cash only" is. He said "I don't know behind the bar". This is clearly a scam and every table is was mad. They are racking up ATM fees by waiting until people have eaten to tell them. On the way out I searched for this mysterious sign he told me about but could not find it. Food is a joke, staff is clueless, and shame on the owners for not accepting credit or debit cards in a sit down dining Restaurant in 2019. It's was our first time in Galena. Decided to give this restaurant a try for an early dinner. We started out by ordering a beer and a margarita. It immediately became apparent the margarita had literally no tequila. None. After a few minutes we were met by a very attentive wait staff. She recommended their torta al pastor. What we got was a burger bun smeared with a meatless sauce. The torta was also filled with chunks of visibly spoiled avocado. The so called "torta al pastor" also came with what looked like the last bit of the bag of chips, literally what was left in the bag, a bunch of crumbs and a few pieces of jagged chips. The rest of it was nothing but crumbs. They also threw in about a spoon full of salsa. By far our worst dining experience ever. Disgusted. read more

Okay so I originally came here for drinks. TLDR: y'all need a new chef We sat down to eat, a Mexican place.. with some American culture. First impressions were good. Server was nice.. but that changed later. She was very friendly. Good on her. We ordered bruschetta.. it was bad. The cheese was *probably* frozen initially and it was somewhat soggy. Imagine sauce, a toasted piece of bread, cheese, lettuce, 1 tomato. It was a sad sight.. especially since I'm Italian. So she apologized for that and we had hopes for a better main course meal. My sister and our friend got steak tacos.. but the rice was OBVIOUSLY store bought. You could even see the pre cut carrots and thawed peas.. like frozen vegetables.. you really thought you could sneak that... Mine was a quesadilla.. steak and shrimp. It tasted like a heavy cheese omelette. You could taste the shrimp and steak (which was good) and just cheese. The green sauce was very water down as well.. but what about the other ingredients? I couldn't tell you. Often times, I had to fetch the server. It was understandable cause she's human. Also the order took FOREVER. For 6 steak tacos, frozen vegetable rice, and 1 quesadilla (aka omelette tbh).. and it was like all that wait for bland food? But the server was very dismissive about my non-authentic order. She didn't apologize for it being bad. She just said "We will take it back" but didn't mention anything about the bill. So I wasn't sure. I wasn't rude. I just said the food was poor. But why wouldn't she ask "why?" I feel like that would be good customer service.. improve your food. We spoke about the bill. My sister and our friend was talking about splitting it and I wanted to be sure that my order wasn't on it. The server answered by turning to me with a tone "I TOLD you we were taking it back." WELL you didn't mention the bill.. so I told her to lose the attitude- it was a question. No need for confrontation. As someone who worked in retail for 6 years, apologies were scarce. Once they saw you didn't like their food, you didn't matter. Overall, VERY dissatisfied. The only good thing were the drinks. Save your money and time. They don't care if you hate it. Comparable to Chipotle and Taco Bell depending what you order. But more expensive. :( read more

Everything but the margaritas and service are bad. I have been to Ayala's twice. I thought I would give them the benefit of the doubt; but it was worse the second time. What they claim is steak in their items is so grisly it will spoil your appetite. Very over priced, they charge for everything !!!! No free chips and salsa here. Beware! Severe case of food poisoning! Margaritas were lukewarm and were in white wine glasses. Guacamole was mostly onions and tomatoes and not blended well at all. Chips were stale and when the food came, my quesadilla was just thrown on a plate with a glob of sour cream on it. The steak was burnt to a crisp. From eating a bit of this food, I was sick as a dog within hours. On a plus side, the staff is nice. Vary rarely do I give such poor reviews, but this place needs to clean it up. read more

Well, I wish I had looked at the reviews prior to wasting our time and money!! We felt like we were in the Twilight zone! We walked in and saw that we were the only customers there. My husband ordered a beer and I ordered a margarita on the rocks. It tasted like water with a bit of lime. Eric, our waiter informed us that they were out of rice and beans!! What??? It's a Mexican restaurant and you are out of rice and beans??? Run to the store and buy some!! We ordered the chorizo cheese dip and chips with salsa. While we were patiently awaiting our appetizer, another couple came in and I can hear him tell them that they're out of steak, but never tells them that they are also out of rice and beans. He then leaves their table and goes to the bar where I believe some of his friends just sat down there. Mind you, there's football on the tv. Eric, our waiter proceeds to yell at the top of his lungs at the tv. My back is to the bar and my husband says, "that was our waiter yelling!" Eric brings chips and salsa to the other table while, WE'RE still waiting for ours!! By this time, were ready to just leave but he finally showed up with our order. My husband tells him that we'll need the check so we can just pay and get the Heck out of there. Eric then tells us that the credit card machine is broken but there's an ATM that we can use. What???? Wouldn't this be something you would tell the customer prior to them ordering?? Why would I want to use an ATM and be charged a service fee?? Thank goodness we had cash!! But seriously, what if a customer only has a credit card but no pin to get cash, then what do you do??? I would never go back to this place again!!! You have been forewarned!! read more

Two of us stopped in on a Saturday around noon. The host/bartender graciously explained that the chef was on his way and all he could offer us was chips and salsa and a drink. Approximately 30 minutes later the chef arrived and it took another 30 minutes to get our food. We had steak fajitas which were the special that day. The portions were huge and delicious. The homemade margaritas were fantastic! If the chef had been there this place would have easily gotten 5 stars. I hope it was just one of those days. The host deserves a raise, not only did he cover for the chef but provided us with exceptional service. read more

Meh. I liked them when they weren't a branch off the old Ayalas. I ordered the carnitas tacos and chorizo cheese dip to go. The chorizo dip was ungodly salty and the chips were stale. The tacos had good flavor but had radish on them? It was a strange addition to me, personally. They also didn't give any lime, which is something they used to do. So the lime/radish ratio was way off in my opinion. Overall the food isn't terrible, but it really leaves a lot to be desired. read more
