I had my gutters replaced by Aylwin on January 7, 2022. While the job was ultimately completed on that day, to my satisfaction, it took 7 weeks and multiple emails to Byron Henderson, the sales person to get the job done. From my email chain to Byron: " Just a recap - we started this conversation on 11/17.  You implied on 11/22 it would be "next week". On 12/7 you said you'd check with Wayne and that "we should be close". On 12/14 you said you spoke to Ron and that "he should be reaching out shortly" (Never heard from Ron). It was not until 12/28/21 that a installation date was set. During that time I had to dig a trench alongside my home to drain water that was pooling from my old faulty gutters. Based on my experience, I wont be recommending them. read more

Aylwin completed a roof replacement on my Lake Oswego investment home about a month ago and I'm extremely pleased. The speed of completion, quality of detail work and their over all expertise was better than I expected. I had a ton of rot in the eave and over hang areas and I was worried that I would get hit with a huge "added" expense. Aylwin did find a ton of rot yet the total added expense was extremely reasonable and the repairs did not delay the completion of the job. Repairs were professionally done and the roof looks great. I'm pretty technical when it comes to construction so I know what to look for during and after a roof replacement. Kick out flashings, valley flashings, edge flashings, straight lines and detailed attention at fireplace and skylites. I walked the roof when all was complete and I couldn't find a single complaint. Best of all - we've been hammered in wind driven rains this week and......no problems!! Aylwin quoted the lowest price of all three vendors I talked to. It took a bit longer than expected to get my job on their calendar yet I think that's ok considering the extremely well priced job and the quality of work. You might have to wait a few weeks longer to get your job done yet you'll save a ton of money and the quality can't be beat. read more

We hired Aylwin to replace the roof at our condo. Their communication was great until a couple weeks into the project. What we were told would be a six week job turned into two years. The quality of workmanship was not good. The crew had very little oversight. They would show up late, take long lunches, and leave early. We ended up hiring another contractor to oversee their work and fix the many mistakes and shortcuts. Despite multiple inspections and supposed fixes, we are still finding work they charged us for but did not complete. (We have disconnected vents, stem vents that were not installed, abandoned construction debris, and tight lines that were not insulated.) read more

This company installed a roof in 2013 for almost $30,000 which is now leaking and we have staining on our ceiling. The owner was nice enough when I spoke to him said his workers would be here in 30 minutes. 1.5 hours later they finally showed up. His workers were supposed to come back the next day and crawl up in the attic but they never showed up or cancelled the appointment. I had to clean out a closet for the workers to access the crawl space. I called and the owner said they could only tell where it was when it rains. I have staining on the ceiling and wood shows when it's been wet so that's bullshit. The insulation would show signs of being wet too. The boss said it was the chimney but I was never told anything by his workers and they didn't show up to verify the problem. read more

I should have read the review before ordering service. My realtor used them so I thought they cannot be that bad. I ordered a repair, and they could not give me a estimate on when I can get it scheduled, so I asked to be notified ahead of time to plan other repair work accordingly (I was doing other renovations to the house at the same time). To my surprise, they came into the property without my consent and did the work without even notifying me! They then sent me a bill, to which I told them (as I was out of town) I needed time to check on the quality of the work and whether it has affected the other part of the renovations (since this was unexpected to other contractors who was in progress to do work as planned). Anyway, I paid them 2 weeks after I received the original bill, but that's not the end of it... they still sent me a threatening letter that they will put a lien on my property. Never have I experienced this type of service with any other contractors. What a service! No notification, trespassing properties, not allowing customer time to check on the quality of work, and send threatening letter even though we have already paid them! read more

They couldn't do the repair immediately, but offered a tarp for the day and we were put on the schedule for the next day. After the initial repair, we received a quote for additional areas of the same issue and decided to have those areas repaired, as well. From start to finish their sense of urgency and priority was a great relief! Everyone I dealt with was professional and pleasant. Dante, the crew supervisor, communicated with us every step of the way and showed photos so we would better understand the problem. The crew arrived when scheduled and worked hard all day - even checking in at the beginning and end of each day. They were very respectful of our property and cleaned up each day, moving things out of the way of our garage so we could get in and out. Bryon, in the office, was quick with quotes and very available to answer any questions I had. This is our second experience with Aylwin - the first was a few years ago and was equally as positive - and I highly recommend them! read more

I purchased a house 2 years ago that had the roof completed by Aylwin in 2005. Here in 2017, the roofing materials are in great shape as told to me by 2 roofers. Unfortuantely, the same 2 roofers told me about how poor of a job was done by the roofers that did the work. Every place in the roof where I have a vent, as well as where the roof split levels, and at the chimney I have a leak. The ones by the vent are so bad that one of the roofers I had look at it this week was concerned he was going to fall through the roof. The inspection company should have caught this, which is a different story, but the workmanship is so poor that a 30 year roof needs to be replaced in 12 years. When I called them about the warranty, the response was essentially "too bad". Unfortunately, I am 2 years beyond the statute of limitations and the warranty expired due to the previous owner of this house not transferring the warranty to them. Regardless, if you've had a roof done by these folks in the last 10 years, I'd advise you to have someone take a look at it just in case. read more

Requested a quote to replace rusted out gutters (2) on August 8. When I had not had a response by August 15, I called again. As I still had not had any response by August18, I gave the job to a competitor, who called, came when they said they would to bid and gave a prompt written quote. Incidently, the competitor quoted to replace all 5 gutters on the front of the house. Needless to say, I would have loved to get an estimate from Aylwin, but if the lack of response to a quote request is any indication of how they approach their business, I will not bother to call them in the future. I called this company on September 9th to schedule a soffit replacement, roof vent repair and partial gutter replacement. A company rep came to my house on September 12th and promised a written estimate by the end of that week. He assured me the work will "be done by mid October". It's now October 9th. I have called them 4 separate times begging to schedule the job. I still can't even get an estimate out of them. They are always "going to call you right back". I understand they are busy. Still, these people take bad customer service to a new level. They will not do the work. They will not return your calls. They will not take your money if you beg them to. It must be nice to turn away business. Since they clearly don't need the work, I suggest you call a roofer that actually wants to do the job. I got estimates from various companies and finally chose Aylwin Construction and I'm so glad I did!! The estimate was spot on regarding what needed to be done and reasonable. They did an excellent job and the crew was not only extremely courteous, but arrived always on time and cleaned up completely afterwards. My roof was challenging and they were able to replace the roof, repair the house where damaged, change and add needed venting and added new gutters. The bid was competitive and we got a referral from a friend so we went with them. They ruined new landscaping we had just completed and it seemed unnecessary if they had taken a few extra minutes to prep. They fixed some of what was ruined but the repairs did not hold (pathway trim boards, hose bibs, etc). They just did not have the level of respect for our home that we have come to expect from other contractors. After 6 weeks we are still cleaning up our yard. Empty water bottles were left behind, wood pieces, shingles, nails. After speaking with the owner we got the excuse that our house was a difficult job. Be CAUTIOUS. read more

I contacted Aylwin to repair three spots on my roof. They came out and gave me an estimate, and the estimator was very friendly and responsive to my questions. I hired them to do the repair, which they completed while I was out of town during the summer. I thought the repairs had been taken care of, until it started raining and my roof leaked in the exact same spots. When I called, they told me that they had actually only repaired one of the spots because they thought I wasn't paying enough to do all three (I paid the amount they charged, so I don't see how it was my fault). They did a shoddy job on the one that they did fix, as that continued to leak. The owner promised he would send someone out to fix the problem, and we set a date and time to do so. His worker never showed up, and when I called to check in and see when the repair crew would come, the owner screamed at me and cussed me out. This was a complete waste of my money and time, and I had to pay another company to come out and do what I already paid Aylwin for. Don't waste your time or money on them. read more
