Ayi-yi-yi, my sweet Ayodhya...I have been to this place probably 8 times in the past 2 years and it's usually pretty good, sometimes great depending on the therapist. I will always have warm affection for this place because of it's unpretentious location, trappings and simple charm. I've had massages from (in order as I recall: Aye, Nam, Meau, Apple and Toi.) Meau was my favorite after Nam left to go to Boonsee (look elsewhere here for her seperate review(s)) In fact, she reminded me of a big-loving mama cat that looks after her young, the way she tenaciously went after those knots and holding patterns. I usually had the little bedroom in this bungalow-style home, and it always felt like someone delivering a home-massage and that you weren't at a clinic or shop. Lately the massages have been kind of hit-and-miss depending on the therapist available, and a few times they couldnt get me in for lack of a therapist at all. This is a great place though, on Indian Hill Blvd. next to a Psychic Reader and across from The Mix Bowl which has great Thai take-out or eat-in. I tell my friends, if they want to t really "Thai 1 on" to come get the massage (first) then get some take-out with a boba tea and go home and vedge-out...I'm sure I will return again soon...Namaste. read more

We are big fans of thai massage in general. We first started going to Thai massage in downtown LA. Although it was in a pretty ghetto neighborhood, the $40/hr ($35 when we first started going years ago) price just can't be beat, and the ladies were all very good. Now that we're no longer in west LA, we were hoping to find a good thai place closer to us. We decided to try out Ayodhya after reading the reviews. The interior of the house was very clean and nice, definitely gets you in the thai-massage mood. We only saw two rooms, one with about 3 mats/space, and the other one probably about 1 or 2 mats. We went with the $45/r thai massage (this one doesn't include any oil or lotion). I didn't realize until after the massage that they offer a different East meets West type of thai massage for $55/hr that (includes oil or lotion). I guess we were spoiled because the downtown LA place always uses some type of oil. The ladies were okay, asked about how I felt the pressure was frequently, and worked on my troubled spots well. My husband though had to frequently tell his lady to put more pressure. Overall I'd say this place was just so-so, but we'd definitely prefer the thai massage in LA more. read more

This was a little gem of a place, located on an unlikely part of Indian Hill in Pomona. I had a one-hour full-body Thai massage the day after running a marathon, and the massuese was really aware of and sensitive to my soreness. The atmosphere was completely relaxing. Nice music, some sort of nice smell...I almost fell asleep, I think. For 45 bucks, I definitely got my money's worth. This place definitely exceeded my expectations! read more

what to do on a rainy night? let's get a massage! i've had this place bookmarked for about a year now and am glad to finally get it off my list of things to try. what can i say? my bf and i loved it. we've had a thai massage before (pho siam in LA) so we knew what to expect. i do recommend to calling ahead to avoid wait time. space is limited - from what i saw looks like they can only do max 4 or 5 massages at one time. first time i've ever had a male masseuse. a little weird when he gave me a 10 second stomach massage - i had flashbacks of being at the gyno. thai technique is a little rough so it takes some getting used to. you're sore afterwards but it's like working out for first time in a long time. the good kind of hurt. they are very nice here, clean & professional. i'd highly recommend coming here if you want a thai massage without having to go all the way to LA. they don't have yoga classes anymore though so i was kinda bummed about that. ayodhya gets a solid A. read more

The atmosphere and presentation are outstanding.. Yes, it is small but I think that adds to the ambiance. I got a 90min combo massage, I've had better Swedish massages but it was definitely above average. The Thai massage was outstanding... The time passed by entirely too quick.. Hidden in Pomona, is this great find. I was brought here recently, by my mom, who treated me to a Thai massage for my birthday. We drove up to Ayodhya, and my first thoughts are "Why are we at a house?" You walk inside, and the first thing you smell is this aromatic tea. You are greeted by one of the employees there, dressed in a mix of traditional Thai costume, and a uniform with their logo. You will see a yoga floor in the front room. (They offer free yoga classes every Sunday or Tuesday) You are ushered to the restroom, where they give you something to wear. You are then brought over to one of the massage rooms where you will see massage platform. For the first 10 minutes, they will ask you if the pressure is ok, so voice up if it is not hard enough or if it is too hard. After your session (60 or 90 minutes), they let you collect your bearings and leave you alone. You then change back to your clothes, and as you approach the cashier to pay, you are given some of that aromatic tea that you smelled when you first came in. If you have never heard of Thai massage, it's where they bend your legs and arms, into different positions, to stretch your muscles. After reading the Yelp reviews, I had to try this place. The outside is nicely decorated with a meditation area. When you first walk in you remove your shoes and put on these straw slippers. Ayodhya is in a house that is nicely decorated and very clean. The staff are very friendly. I was very pleased with my $45 one hr Thai massage. I walked out feeling relaxed. This little diamond in the rough is truly a magical experience from the people, the atmosphere and the massage itself. As you walk in, you immediately feel like you're in a different world with the authenticity of the Thai decor. I have Phet a female massage therapist who works on me every time and there's something so keen about her intuition that has led me to cry after almost every massage and she is now known as Magic Hands:) I recommend this place to anyone who has a sense of appreciation for the healing arts as well as anyone who wants a bang for their buck. Fantastic all around. If you're a fan of deep tissue massage you owe it to yourself to try Ayodhya. The atmosphere is wonderfully soothing, the therapists talented (and strong!) and the massages are thorough, excellent, and a terrific value! If you're apprehensive about all the Thai massage contortions you'll get put through, being walked on, etc, you might try the East-meets-West massage the first time. I went to Ayodhya yesterday after reading the reviews of the other two. It is truly a gem in the Pomona area! This was my third time in my life getting a Thai massage and it ranks right up there with the other two. I was greeted by a calm and gentle woman who met me at the door. The environment was calm and put me at ease when I stepped in. They also have a free meditation/yoga classes. There is a free mediation session this Saturday with an American monk from 7-9:30pm. Cho is the best and the only way to go. But it come with a price, it is so hard to make an appointment because they don't speak English very well and the other masseuse will talk loud while you are getting a massage. Cho is the only one who knows what he is doing there. read more

Swung by yesterday for a massage - I wasn't sure what to expect but it was quite easy to setup an appointment. They were very accommodating and the overall vibe of the place is calm and relaxed. The masseur was Sunny and she was good. I had never been to a Thai message place. Part of the massage was using their elbow on your back which was killer... and I mean it in a painful way. Lol this place is great if you are looking to get knots taken out. If you are looking to relax this place is good too, but be sure to tell that to your masseur. read more

Ok I've been going to this place for years and I love it... but this time around I felt a little cheated. I thought I was getting the one hour massage and it was going great. My little Thai masseuse had good massage techniques and pinpointed my achey neck and shoulders she even attentively got muscles in my lower extremities that I didn't know needed some loving. It was great then she started doing the near end yoga moves and I thought to myself "hmmmm she must just be going out of order. " Because it felt a little short. Then, she did the karate chopping of my shoulders that signifies the conclusion to your massage and that was that. I looked at my clock on my phone prior and it stated 4:21pm and when I checked my phone when she was done it was only 5:03pm!!! 18 WHOLE MINUTES!!! THAT IS ALOT OF TIME to miss out of an hour massage! That's 30% of the massage I missed and im very saddened by it. My knotty shoulders kneaded the extra tlc. But needless to say, I got her name and as kind and friendly as she was I will not be her returning customer. But I will be back here again bc I loved all my previous massages esp by Nam or Nan but I don't think she works here anymore:( read more

They told us "one ok but not two". Wtf? Is there some imaginary person your planning to massage? I went on thursday with a friend again, just 1 week from the amazing massage I got from Chok. I called earlier to make a appointment with Chok, however he was fully booked on that day. So i took whoever is available. Me and my friend start at the same time for a 90 mins section. my lady was so so... I told her few times my shoulder is the place need work on , but I think most of the time she was focus on my legs!! ok fine, she probably has her work flow...or she doesn't understand me? I was still ok until she told me " You are Done". and i saw the clock it was 7:30pm. We started at 6:13pm! I normally wouldn't realize the time was short, however my friend and I started at the same time, she was still getting the massage until 7:43pm. So I was dressed, paid, and waiting in the waiting room for 13 mins before she finished massage. I asked my masseurs when I was paying: am I getting a 90 mins massage? she said: yes, it's a 90 mins. I asked her : but it is not 90 mins, it is a 75 mins massage, why you finished so early? she said: because every masseurs has own work flow, sometimes finish 5 mins early or late." I said: but it is not 5 mins early. it is much earlier..." then she stopped talking... I could have asked for a 60 mins massage.....I asked for 90 mins section just because I wanted to enjoy longer...PLUS, I am a good tipper, last time, I tipped $20 for 1 hour amazing massage, wrote a great review for them, took another friend for massage 1 week after, asked for a 90 mins massage, and I GOT THIS: massage wasn't good, and 13 mins shorter. however, I still tipped her $15 this time which I shouldn't..I did just because I still want to go back for CHOK's service. read more

I've been going to this hidden treasure for 2 years now and have never had a bad experience. I've also gotten a lot of my friends and family hooked on this place. I'm sure the location may cause some to hesitate, but don't let that stop you! The inside is very clean and has a very relaxing vibe to it. The staff is very friendly and they know what their doing. Thai message is very different from your typical lay face down on a table massage. They massage your entire body along with various stretching techniques that are sure to have you walking out a new person. I'm surprised to see some of the complaints on here, but the key is to be open and let them know where your trouble spots are and how deep you'd like it to be.
