Today was the day for our introduction and time to decide if she was to be our forever puppy. Crystal, her foster Mom who volunteers at ARF, introduced us to little Tommie and the rest is history. We immediately decided to take her home We are thankful to ARF for their rescue and adoption services. Hopefully more folks will use their services and find their new best friend!

Although we have two dogs of our own and a new baby at home, we took the dog in, fed it, bathed it, and kept it safe inside overnight while trying to locate its owners. Unfortunately, the situation became very stressful for our household. Our smaller dog was extremely anxious, and our 62-pound rescue dog was also stressed and beginning to show signs of aggression toward the unfamiliar dog. After 24 hours of caring for the stray and being unable to locate its owners, I brought the dog to the Humane Society, hoping they could take over its care and help reunite it with its family or find a safe outcome. What disappointed me was not the mission of the Humane Society, but the way I was treated during the intake process. Rather than feeling supported after doing my best to help a lost animal, I felt pressured and judged for not being able to continue fostering the dog. The gentleman assisting me seemed frustrated with my situation, even as I explained the challenges we were facing with our own pets and the fact that we have a baby in the home. My family has supported the Humane Society over the years through donations and advocacy, which made this experience especially disheartening. I understand shelters are often overwhelmed and resources can be limited, but a little compassion and appreciation for community members who step up to help lost animals would go a long way. We did everything we could to care for this dog for the time it was with us, and I left feeling unappreciated for those efforts. I truly hope this feedback is taken constructively, as I still believe in the importance of the Humane Society's work. I simply wish the interaction had reflected the same compassion toward people that they strive to show animals.

One young lady came to my house in tears because how she was being treated so I sat and listened but still gave company a chance. Then I get an email yesterday asking if I can change from my normal day and I responded saying I would try to accommodate and I went and moved things around after I got home ready to let them know I could make it work to find I received an email saying they are discontinuing service to me because they can not give what I needed. I have been trying to accommodate this company for months and I even got 4 neighbors wanting to hire them then I received a very unprofessional email no explanation or anything. I had already planned on leaving in a month my old housekeeper is moving back to Pascagoula so I was atleast going to stay with them and give them a two weeks notice I was leaving but I don't get that in return. Horrible and needless to say I have shared my email communication with my neighbors and they have decided to just hire my old housekeeper. So disappointed that I gave this company another chance. The young ladies cleaned well had a few issues but always gave them a good tip it's not the young ladies fault about the office issues. Also I found out the office tax their tips so I tipped them directly because I was never told I couldn't. Update after I requested an explanation I was given an explanation why they just stopped my service. It was much better than the first email that I received. All of the cleaners who have cleaned my house know I'm preparing for a very large party in a few weeks and to be told that the cleaning service cannot handle my cleaning at the last minute after I've already been scheduled for a cleaning is just very unfortunate but I do revise my statement. I WAS LATER given an explanation by the owner. The first person that contacted me was very blunt and did not give me a reason at all, so I requested an explanation and was given one. I would've respected them more if the person that contacted me after I requested an explanation was the first one to contact me because at least she explained why even though I still find it last minute because my cleaning was to be less than a week from now, I can understand if you don't have the staff to accommodate my cleaning schedule anymore. I would have rather that email being completely open about the sudden change than the one I received at first. I hope the company can get things together because I was all for supporting woman, and as a woman I just think after everything I should have just been given a little more notice. They do transport of 50+ dogs a month to upstate…read moreNew York... every dog has been neutered, every dog has all shots and vaccinations, all who needed it were treated for heartworms, many have had to be treated for injuries, illnesses or infections... all have had the benefits of living for at least 2 weeks in a foster home with a family... and every one was rescued from a horrific situation or was in a shelter prior to the tremendous efforts put into their veterinary needs. Additionally a large number of cats are rescued and neutered and nursed to health... and a few dogs are also rehabilitated and given veterinary services so they can be adopted locally, sent to other parts of the country, or put into service dog programs. It's an amazing organization doing an amazing amount of work.

In that case it is just a poor wondering hungry cat that the coalition didn't check on. Be careful before you waste your hard earned money or call the helpful cat Coalition. I've been waiting 4 months to write this review. In Dec., Village called and said I needed to be…read moreseen. I confirmed I needed to come in now and not May (1 year f/u) and the very nice lady at the front desk said "actually yes, I could wait until May." Great! Just 3-4 weeks later, I placed an order for meds to be delivered and the next business day my order was declined. When I noticed this, I called and the other front desk lady - an Extremely unpleasant woman - said I must be seen before I can get more heart meds for my dog. I referred to my call the month prior. The mean lady told me too bad, I must be seen by the new doctor. I was hours away out of town and still they would not fill the rx 1 more time (2weeks supply) without being seen. With no notice, Village cut off my dog's life-saving medication. I had to pack up and head back to Mobile so that I would not be without medication when I arrived back from vacation. What kind of company does that to someone with a terminally ill "baby" as they like to call pets. If that were my only unpleasant experience, I could get over it, but I got a new medication that front desk refused to help me with including ignoring my emails when I inquired about it. Village has treated me terribly in the past few months. The new female vet is young and nice and seems savvy enough, but you have to deal with the front desk the most and the office feels really dirty and old. The workers got together and painted the joint and it's really bad. But you're still paying top dollar for services just like if you pick a vet with a nice office. Since vowing to leave Village, I have taken my new puppy to Westside. It's a much cleaner, appealing office. And we took our sick, sweet girl to University Animal Hospital in a Hail Mary attempt to keep her alive longer from the heart failure that was taking her from us. I called University on a Monday and got in first thing Tues. morning. My husband highly recommends University as a small operation with great service and said we need to start taking our puppy there. I was impressed by University's quick appointment time and they will l do a same day dental! Unheard of. They also do light anesthesia options for dental cleanings but also offer full sedation. When my puppy needs to be spayed, I'll take her to University. And never go back to Village. Ever.
