I've been waiting 4 months to write this review. In Dec., Village called and said I needed to be seen. I confirmed I needed to come in now and not May (1 year f/u) and the very nice lady at the front desk said "actually yes, I could wait until May." Great! Just 3-4 weeks later, I placed an order for meds to be delivered and the next business day my order was declined. When I noticed this, I called and the other front desk lady - an Extremely unpleasant woman - said I must be seen before I can get more heart meds for my dog. I referred to my call the month prior. The mean lady told me too bad, I must be seen by the new doctor. I was hours away out of town and still they would not fill the rx 1 more time (2weeks supply) without being seen. With no notice, Village cut off my dog's life-saving medication. I had to pack up and head back to Mobile so that I would not be without medication when I arrived back from vacation. What kind of company does that to someone with a terminally ill "baby" as they like to call pets. If that were my only unpleasant experience, I could get over it, but I got a new medication that front desk refused to help me with including ignoring my emails when I inquired about it. Village has treated me terribly in the past few months. The new female vet is young and nice and seems savvy enough, but you have to deal with the front desk the most and the office feels really dirty and old. The workers got together and painted the joint and it's really bad. But you're still paying top dollar for services just like if you pick a vet with a nice office. Since vowing to leave Village, I have taken my new puppy to Westside. It's a much cleaner, appealing office. And we took our sick, sweet girl to University Animal Hospital in a Hail Mary attempt to keep her alive longer from the heart failure that was taking her from us. I called University on a Monday and got in first thing Tues. morning. My husband highly recommends University as a small operation with great service and said we need to start taking our puppy there. I was impressed by University's quick appointment time and they will l do a same day dental! Unheard of. They also do light anesthesia options for dental cleanings but also offer full sedation. When my puppy needs to be spayed, I'll take her to University. And never go back to Village. Ever. read more

They are all so sweet from the receptionist to the tech and the vet! They genuinely seem to care about your animal. I had 2 female guinea pigs that was having some problems with their sinuses and I thought they were sick but come to find out it was just allergies. The vet recommended changing out their bedding and see if that stopped their sneezing. The tech and the vet noticed that their nails were long and sharp and needed cutting so they cut them for me. Then I thought one of the guinea pigs was pregnant so the Vet examined her and then she did an ultra sound on her and found out she was not!! My bill was very reasonable and I left there very satisfied!! I would recommend them highly!! I have a 3yr old cat that I just adopted and I will be taking him there!! read more

We've dealt with this clinic for 20 years, and with 3 dogs. They continue to be helpful and listen to our concerns. the staff is friendly, and the vets have always shown an interest in the long term care and health of our dogs: Atlas, Jazzy, and Percy. Dr. Roxy Leslie was the best. He cared, he listened and helped. He made sure he kept his cost down so people could afford to take care of their pets. If you had to make the hard decision to put your pet to sleep because they were old and suffering, he listened and explained why the decision was good for your loved pet to help a little bit about your decision. HE HAS RETIRED. Dr Michael Zimlich has apparently taken over his practice. I had to make the difficult decision to let my senior cat go. I made the appointment at Village Animal Clinic since I had been going here for several years. On their website it only listed Dr. Zimlich so I assumed Dr. Leslie had retired. I assumed which was totally wrong that whom ever took Dr. Leslie's place would be the same caring person that Dr. Leslie was. Boy was I incorrect. I took my cat to Dr. Zimlich so we could end her suffering. I am obviously upset and crying. One of the ladies came in and said we needed her weight to properly know how much medicine to give her. The front desk lady came in, asked me to sign the paperwork and it stated $125.00, I signed and handed her my debit card because i thought I would forget. The Doctor came in, asked me to put my cat on the table so he could give her a shot that would make her sleep. I did as asked. He then said he would be back in a few minutes to check on us. He came back and asked me to put her on the table again so he could give the shot to shut down her organs. I did as asked. He gave her another shot and then informed me they would put her in a bag for me to take her home and left the room. NOT ONCE DID HE SAY, AS A VET, I WAS DOING THE RIGHT THING FOR MY PET NOR ANYTHING ELSE. I got home later that day and looked at my receipt. Not only was I charged $125 which I knew about, I was charged $60.00 for Physical Exam/Office Visit. The only thing he did was give her 2 shots. If you are looking for a kind and caring Vet for your beloved pets, for me my pets are my family, this is not the place ANYMORE to have your furry family taken care of. read more

Dr. Leslie and his team have been a godsend, taking care of my dogs since I moved to this neighborhood. He and his staff have helped me nurse both Chance and Jackson through their final months, and are now taking excellent care of Blackjack. I can't thank them enough: great communication, lots of care and attention, and I never feel like a number. read more

I read the other persons review and thought " I've reviewed Village Animal Clinic before , several times , it's just now , there are so many different sites you can go to for reviews of businesses !! I only recently learned of " Yelp".. I do agree with what he said, I believe I get the best care for my animals and Dr. Leslie is just super awesome !! My sister and dad raved about him so when I was looking to change my vet , naturally , I switched to him and it was the best decision I ever made . Not only is he a great Veterinarian, he's also just a super nice funny , great guy who loves the same pretzels I do !! Lol seriously, it's nice going to a place where everyone knows you and they know your pets, so not only do you get quality care , you get personal care as well ... Dr. Leslie has done surgery twice now on my male German shepherd and both times , my dog-Harley , has done very well afterward . I've never worried, I've always had complete confidence in everyone there , they are truly a great group of people you would want taking care of your animals!! And a little side note here : the very first veterinarian office I ever used as an adult when I got my first dog out on my own was " Village Animal Clinic", and I believe the year was 1982, not sure , and I believe the vet's name that started the clinic was Dr. Hugh Pickett. I have been taking my babies to Dr. Leslie for many years. The staff has always been the best. Dr. Leslie is the BEST. He can be so funny, but so very knowledgeable. He has helped three of my babies over the rainbow bridge. Such love and caring not only for my pets but for me too. He is always available by text or email. Very fast to answer. The only thing I don't like about him is that he won't move to Georgia by me,so he can take care of my babies. LOVE YOU AND YOUR STAFF! read more

Dr. Roxie and his staff are amazing , but don't fall on hard times and have to put a dog down. A vet tech named Melody will be rude and degrading. She has never been a tech that I liked or even wanted my animals around. Everyone else is loving and kind, and you couldn't ask for anyone better than Roxie to look after your four legged family members. read more

First of all; Dr. Roxie Is awesome; however, I've tried and failed to get my dog out of the kennel from people who should be there. I drove in 10hrs 2 days early to get my Beaus. So today I went over at 3, 4 5pm...nobody. Then I just started calling the "call if you are here and we are not" #.because I know they are there from 2-5pm. Nope, no chance to leave even a voicemail, no cars in the parking lot to show anyone walked my dog. Let him out, let him eat, let him drink, let him poo, let him have human or any kind of interactions. Great Dr., Poor animal care. That's just my opinion. read more

The whole staff at Village Animal Clinic are amazing! I am Military and travel a lot. When I moved down here I was worried about finding a vet for my lab (Thumper). A friend of mine told me about them so I went there in 2015, and I will NEVER go anywhere else as long as I am here. Dr. Leslie is AMAZING, Thumper has bad allergies and instead of him throwing high priced medications that he could have sold me on multiple occasions, we would talk and he would have me try different over the counter cheaper medications instead. It really shows that they love our furry family members, and they aren't like other vets just trying to make money. Thumper loves going to see them (I think it's because he knows the staff is going to give him a endless supply of treats lol), but it makes me feel good knowing they are caring for him when he is sick,because I know they love him just as much as I do. If your needing another vet then go see them!!! They are hands down the best! read more

Had to rate one star because nothing less was offered!!! I entrusted Dr. Leslie with my English bulldog....in which I thought he specialized in this breed. How I was wrong and we paid a price in the worse way!!! We recently breed my eb and after all the details given Dr. Leslie choose the csection date!! 2 days before scheduled csection I brought her in for constant panting. Panting being a very strong sign of labor starting. Her temp had dropped and had told him this. He didn't check her temp and dismissed the panting. Still against my better judgement I trusted him more and took her home. Less than 8 hours later she was delivering pups. Litter of 9. The 2 she delivered naturally survived but the 7 he took by csection died. After talking to other vets it has been decided that he didn't take the pups early enough. No compassion or sympathy was shown what so ever!! Please people don't be a victim of this carelessness. We lost 7 puppies not too mention we found out today that a few things that he overlooked or dismissed were serious issues. read more
