He used a couple of my towels to absorb the water when the ice melted. He was able to replace the defrost heater and thermostat. Yea! I actually kicked him out of my house within one minute of him arriving which I NEVER have done for a service person before. I needed our dryer repaired because heating element was no longer working. My husband had removed the front cover of the dryer to replace the thermal fuse to see if that would fix the problem. When it did not, we called marathon to come out for a diagnostic call. We figured leaving the cover off would be no problem and allow for easy access. John arrived, wasn't particularly warm on the onset (seemed annoyed or stressed). As I led him to the laundry room, I acknowledged that the dryer was partially disassembled. Which honestly was a stretch because it was literally just the front cover off, no parts were undone. He immediately says "Uh, well that's a problem. I can't fix a dryer I can't diagnose." When I paused for clarity, he goes on to say (in an excessively rude and condescending tone) "I mean I'll try because I'm going to charge you the service fee anyway, but you really should have mentioned that in your scheduling. I usually charge an additional fee to put the dryer back together before servicing it." Had he said all of this in a polite tone, I would have inquired about the cost to reassemble the dryer, and then with understanding, say go ahead and do what you need to do. I wasn't trying to withhold any information, And honestly, it wasn't even really disassembled. His tone, approach, manner towards me was so incredibly rude and offensive, and frankly, I don't think he would've talked that way to my husband (or a man) like that. I simply asked him to leave my house. He promptly says " OK, Good luck" With an arrogant tone and then proceeds to walk out of my house and slam the door. Clearly, he doesn't need the business. Ladies, if you want to be treated with respect - AVOID!!

He ordered parts immediately and returned a few days later to perform the work and get me up and running again. The technician was prompt, professional, extremely knowledgeable and really nice. I also know that he was honest because my brother has his license in refrigeration repair back east and I consulted with my brother about the work and costs. This is the second time that I have used Marathon Appliance and I will definitely use them again in the future. They go the distance!

Yes, he was nice enough and apologized, but when you give a time, you should honor it. Especially since it wasn't an exact time, but a 3 hour window. Second, he did not record the model or serial # of our machine - we had to be bothered while I'm at work, and my wife is recovering from surgery, to hunt down information we have no clue where it is. Very frustrating and unprofessional. Yes, everyone is nice and apologetic (which is why i gave 2 stars and not 1), but these are very basic issues that should not be taking place.

O asked again about $ and he said not to worry about it that he enjoyed the quick fix since he doesn't get to work on Sharks much. In the 10+…read moretext message exchange he never once mentioned a service fee -- which, of course, is a common fee for this line of service, but it's not unheard of to not charge one -- and despite my pinpointing the brand and specific issue (door hinge), he didn't ask for a model number to potentially alert me as to parts availability. Needless to say, he spent 5 minutes looking at the oven and charged the $95 service fee while commenting that the parts were unavailable. I called him out on not disclosing a service charge, and he responded with a sarcastic comment. In my opinion, it's not unreasonable to expect (1) disclosure of the existence of a service charge (and amount) and (2) inquiry as to the model type so as to figure out availability of parts (presumably, this was easily discoverable given that he was here for 5 minutes and made that determination). Would not recommend.
