He was the perfect tour guide for 6 friends on an adventure who were impressed with his historical knowledge, quick wit, and love for his island. We got to experience an once in a lifetime bull "chase" from a locals home, enjoyed fantastic food (ask about the local beef dish) and got a full tour of what the island had to offer.  His company may be called Taxi Amigo, but he was definitely more of an amigo than simply a taxi. We visited multiple geologic features, scenic vistas, different types of volcanos, 2 caves and had an authentic meal at a restaurant that raises their own livestock for food. There are plenty of options to customize the tour- for example there are vegetarian options, local spots he can take you to that match your interests, and as many breaks as you like. There were many breathtaking views and opportunities for Gui to take your photos. The other customization is that the guide can answer any questions you have about the island- of the 100s of questions we asked there was only one he couldn't answer he contacted a local art historian to get the answer to us. After searching Instagram for pictures of the island, we had stumbled across Juca's photographs. We immediately contacted him and begged him to be our photographer. He kindly agreed, although he had never done this before. He specializes in guided tours of archeological sites, photography tours, hiking, and food & wine. Juca was a true professional that has an unmatched passion for fine photography. Juca was incredible--his knowledge of the island was something you don't get with the other guides in Terceira. We have been there three times before and done multiple tours, but we will never book anyone but Juca again. He was funny, spoke perfect English and has a wealth of knowledge. By the end of the trip, he felt like family. He knows just the right places to eat and will take you to locations that are on no map. Believe me, I thought I knew every inch of the island, but every place he brought us to left us speechless. Trekking in our wedding attire is one of our favorite moments. Of course our ceremony is a day we never want to forget, and because of Juca, we won't. His pictures are such high quality I will probably look at them daily for the rest of my life in disbelief. While on the island, we also had the chance to meet his beautiful family and felt so at home with them, we invited them to our wedding reception as well. Marisa helped book meals and even sent us recipes for our favorite dishes. To say that they are the epitome of hospitality would be an understatement. I can not possibly recommend them enough. All I can say is book early and often. We will be heading back to the island as soon as we can and I can honestly say, Juca and Marisa will be the first people we reach out to.

I also signed up for a cove tour but due to lack of attendance (it was shoulder season) the tour did not occur. However, the captain was told I wanted to see it and he took the entire group on a mini visit to the coves! What a sweet added bonus that made my day. I highly recommended this company. Great experience!

We got picked up at our hotel and taken to what looked like a little plaza of airport like kiosk…read morenear the bay. The guide instructed us on how to attach the life preservers and explained what we were going to do. We took a little speed boat rafting tour to see some caves and get out into the water and it was very choppy and water was pretty salty. We got pretty wet and I really wished I had a poncho, rain jacket, or something waterproof. I would say dress appropriately. The view was spectacular and it was very cool to see. We had a lot of fun, and it helps when you have a good group that has a good sense of humor. The guides were great in their explanations and friendly. I would definitely recommend them.

We first did a Pico Day Tour with Raisa, who is super fun and hospitable. She made us feel like family and facilitated a very nice experience, and the trip mates who we did not know prior to the tour, clearly also felt very welcomed and we all had such a great day together. Raisa takes you to the some very breathtaking sites around Pico, and is clearly extremely passionate about what she does and the island of Pico. She is very knowledgeable and we learned a lot, all in an awesome environment. She seemed to tailor the trip to the group and the weather, and is very flexible depending on what the group wants. At the end of the tour we forgot the cheese that we bought in the van. I Instagrammed Raisa who got back to me immediately, saying that she saw we had left it and was heading to our accommodation at that moment. Sure enough she brought us our cheese! She had also offered to bring anything including food or medicine to a couple that at the beginning of the tour (upon pick-up) could not join the tour due to being ill. She is very genuine and very much cares about her customers and wants to ensure the best experience for your time in Pico. We also met another guide along the way that seemed very nice and genuine as well. After hours my husband and I contacted them to see if we can get a two hour trip to Gruta das Torres the next day, and Joana and Raisa got right on it setting up the tour and our transport with David through Tripix to the caves. She allowed us to pay for both tours on the second day after they were both completed without fuss or hesitation. We already can't wait to come back to Pico to take more tours with Tripix, and could not more highly recommend this awesome (and environmentally conscious) company! Thanks Raisa!!!

During the tours, both Matteo and Rai (the tour guides/owners of the company) were very knowledgeable, friendly, and helpful. We had a great experience. We climbed Pico Mountain with Matteo, which was challenging but absolutely amazing! Matteo was very informative and helpful for the entire hike, which took about 8 hours. We also did the Secret Lagoon and Lava Cave Tour. We spent the morning visiting a number of beautiful lagoons, and then went to an awesome lunch. In the afternoon, we explored a lava cave, which was very cool. Matteo spent a lot of time explaining the history of the island, and was able to answer any questions. As our third tour, we did a full day winery tour with Rai. We had a great day exploring vineyards, and doing wine tastings. Rai was great! She provided a lot of information, and was super friendly. Overall, we had a great experience with Tripix Azores and would definitely book with them again!

Did a half day (morning) whale watching tour with a friend starting from Pico. What an incredible…read moreexperience! First, off, it feels great to watch and learn about whales through a company grounded in sustainability and research - not just earning profits. You can tell all the staff are incredibly passionate and knowledgeable about the local wildlife, and they even have internships for those who want to get more involved in the work. In addition to the whales, we learned about local fowl, crabs, and other sealife. Communication and payment was super easy via their website, and I got WhatsApp updates on the meeting spot and timing the day of. They make sure to keep you well protected from the elements with a waterproof jacket and overalls. The boat is not a typical tour boat meant for leisure - this is a small rigid inflatable boat with forward-facing seats meant for a bumpy ride. This is NOT a recommended trip for people with orthopedic injuries, sensitivity to jarring motion, or who are pregnant. They do make a point to check in on everyone to ensure they're doing okay. I am prone to seasickness and I had some nausea while we were idling, waiting for a whale. But, being smaller, it's fairly agile and able to maneuver quickly when chasing a whalespotting tip and my nausea subsided once the boat was moving again. Definitely recommend a tour with Naturalist!
