Co-owner Santiago Rodriguez, who is project manager of challenging structures like ours, is a master craftsman. His hearty crew members are talented hard workers who arrived at dawn and worked way beyond dusk in the dark! We got a roof replacement quote from one company with the cheapest option being $22,000. We wanted multiple quotes so, after looking at Yelp reviews, we contacted Cornerstone Roofing. Mike (from Cornerstone) came today to give us a quote. After getting up on the roof, he came down and let us know that our roof looks great and does not need to be replaced. He explained what materials he saw that showed it was a newer roof and listed all the features that were put in when it was replaced. He gave us the name of the shingle company and let us know we probably still had a warranty through them. He even followed up after he came, saying he looked up satellite images and the roof was probably replaced in 2016/2017. I had already contacted the shingle company to ask about the warranty and, Mike was right, the roof had been replaced in 2016. We now have a warranty we can use if an issue with our roof comes up and we know that we do not need to replace our roof for many years. Mike saved us a minimum of $22,000. I can't speak to the quality of Cornerstone Roofing's work (only because we didn't end up needing it) but I can speak to the honesty, integrity and knowledge of their employees.

There wasn't a single piece of flashing that not dented or wrinkled. None of the different roof planes lined up. In several areas, the rows were not parallel to one another. One third of the exposed nail and screw heads were incompletely sealed. The shakes were not the shakes I picked and did not match our garage. There was damage to our house and greenhouse without any mention of it. I never saw a supervisor and calls to the office were ignored. The owner refused to talk to me until I refused payment. Although we renegotiated the total, the owner and his company are an unfunny joke.

Pros: I chose Simple Star Solutions because other roofers…read moredidn't provide a logical solution to stop 2 leaks. One company wanted to replace valley flashings and the other wanted to do a remove and replace then charge me more if needs be. Regardless, Simple Star Miguel proposed neither and explained to me why those were not good solutions. So I went with him since I didn't want to throw away valley flashing in dump and he provided me good warranty on work and he found me good matching shingles. He replaced moldy plywood and redid the roof shingles with autumn blend. So far no leak and looks solid the new install. Cons: My insurance audited my claim on the roof repair done by Simple Star Solutions. They denied the invoice because it didn't state anywhere it was paid the full amount. I asked Miguel to sign the invoice as paid per my insurance company instructions and he refused to sign it. So basically I cannot get insurance renewed because of his denial to sign it. I was shocked actually. I was even willing to meet him on a job site to sign it and he refused. There must be a reason why he doesn't issue paid invoices to customers. Customer must receive a paid invoice for insurance claims purposes.
