The pastries get freshly filled with filling upon your order, and they box it up so nicely! There are aeating benches for you to sit and wait for your order, which didn't take too long. I got 3 cannolis, 2 cream puffs, and 2 cookies (I got the last chocolate cookie of the day). Service was friendly and quick as well, only took about 10ish minutes! Everything tasted amazing! And best thing about them was that it was not too overly sweet! It was the perfect amount that makes me want to keep tasting more. The cookies especially were so satisfying and soft and I loved how everything was quite decent sized as well! I will definitely be coming back!

The pastries are the best I've ever had. I am a lobster tail junkie. Whenever I'm in NY or Philly, I seek out the best. I've been to several famous Italian bakeries in these cities and never found one as good as Utica Bakery in Apex. It's world class. Just look at the cannoli cream and pistachio cream stuffing those bad boys. Their savory foods are equally as impressive. This stuffed bread with meatballs and Parmesan was excellent and I love their tomato pie (not pictured), which I have had in the past. Everything here is outstanding! If you're anywhere close on a weekend, get there asap.

This is our 2nd visit here...First time was when they first opened so thought I'd give them some grace as they work through the new business glitches. I honestly don't recall much of the items that we bought so am giving them another go. First, none of the items in the bakery cases were labeled. Had to ask the staff what each & every item was. Labeling them would be far more efficient and helpful for everyone. Second, the appearance of the bakery items weren't very professional/ esthetic looking compared to other bakeries that I've been. Not a big deal to me since taste is first & foremost most important however, a pretty pastry definitely makes an impression on the eyes. We bought a couple of items to try. The lemon olive oil cake with pistachio sounded delish. Have had other olive oils cakes before & it was always moist & flavorful. This one was dry & crumbly. The flavors were there but how could an olive oil cake be dry?!?! The vegan banana walnut cake with chocolate sounded amazing. It too was very dry and very very dense...so dense that we had to use effort to push a fork through. What this tells me was that the items have been sitting for a long while & haven't sold. There's no excuse why these 2 items were not quality checked and still left for sale. In all honestly, these were not calorie worthy enough for me to give them another go.

Got it. Here is the revised Yelp review with the correct name:…read more My wife and I recently stopped by Once in a Blue Moon Bakery and Café in downtown North Carolina, and we left already planning our next visit. From the moment we walked in, we were greeted promptly and served with genuine kindness. The atmosphere is welcoming and relaxed. It feels like the kind of place where you can slow down, sit across from someone you love, and actually enjoy your coffee. We ordered an espresso, a latte, a chocolate croissant, and a lemon pastry. Everything was fresh. The croissant had crisp, flaky layers on the outside and a soft, buttery texture inside. The lemon pastry was bright and balanced, not overly sweet. The espresso was strong and smooth. The latte was well crafted and comforting. Service was quick without feeling rushed. The space was clean. The overall experience was simple and well done. If you are in downtown and want good coffee, fresh pastries, and attentive service, Once in a Blue Moon Bakery and Café is worth your visit. We thoroughly enjoyed it and will return. Highly recommend.

On the positive side, the flavors themselves were solid overall. The icing was tasty, and while the cake was decent, it leaned a bit dry, which was already giving us pause given this was meant to showcase their best work. What really ended the conversation for us was a major quality issue. Two of the icing sample balls each had a very long hair in them. It was immediately noticeable and extremely off-putting. At that point, we lost confidence and couldn't bring ourselves to continue sampling, let alone consider trusting them with something as important as a wedding cake. Between the dryness of the cake and the hair issue, we ultimately decided to go in a different direction. Not terrible flavor-wise, but the experience as a whole was disappointing and fell short for such a high-stakes purchase.

They helped me navigate my coffee order and executed it to perfection. They also answered all of my gluten free questions and took extra precautions for my allergy. Came here recently and really enjoyed my visit!…read more First, there's a small parking lot right next to the bakery, and I think a larger parking lot at the rear of the building. I got lucky and snagged a spot near the front, though :) I looked around at everything and it all looked so tasty! I decided to grab a loaf of pumpernickel bread, but next time I'll probably get a dessert or two. The staff were helpful throughout my visit. They asked me if I wanted my bread sliced, and when I replied in the affirmative, gave me a helpful chart with a lot of different options for how thick I wanted each slice :) I took the bread home, stuck it in the oven, and ate it with some butter and jam. Delicious! My kids really liked it as well. Overall, I will definitely come back!

One thing that had a slight improvement but I will insist desperately needs improvement is their packaging. While this time I did get plastic clamshell containers, which is better than the foam lunch clamshell I got a full tart in last time, it was still a bit disappointing. The small paper bags for the cookies made sense, but then it was all thrown into a generic yellow smiley face thank you plastic grocery bag. I beg, please invest in some nice bakery cardboard boces, that way multiple treats can go into a single box too, and then just some nice paper bags. I love the food, but when trying to gift them or take it to somebodies house I feel odd pulling stuff out of a grocery bag and each item being individually in a plastic clamshell.
